Chapter 6 - The Mentor

"The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury."

Marcus Aurelius

(161-180 BCE, Second Century CE)

The Mentor Awakes inside his small makeshift tent. He gets up from the worn cot and opens the flap to stand outside in the sunlight, shaded by fluffy white clouds growing bigger from the humidity in the air. With his alien sight, he can see through the solid obstacles from afar that Human sight is unable to register. His eyes pierce through tents, vehicles, and Humans walking by. The Mentor finds The Commander of War from The Realm of Light. He walks towards the large open tent, established at the center of Central Park, Manhattan. She has summoned The Sentinel and The Mentor to meet her at the Command Post.

On his way to meet The Commander, his thoughts return to his argument with The One Between and The Pact which led to their sparring. A lesson that was needed by his Pupil, but he remains bitterly upset about how he's hurt Them. Raped Them. A Power The One Between hates to wield as a weapon. Control. Violence. Power and Rape go hand in hand. That is the only thing that matters in the Dark Realm. The Knowledge of Chaos finally in the hands of The One Between would be the most absurd of pyrrhic victories. The Mentor's Light shudders at the thought of the insanity and the want for Death. The Void of Darkness will never let go without a fight. He will never let their Brother have Them. Whatever it takes.

The Mentor walks through the large encampment surrounded by temporary GP medium tents, a common type used by the U.S. military. These tents provide shelter for larger groups and can be equipped with heating and cooling systems. The facility's perimeter security and access control are critical aspects of base operations where both Humans and aliens oversee protocols. However, aliens do most of the security at night while Humans do so by day. The aliens take on the form of Sentinels' and follow what the Humans do, their tents scattered throughout the encampment. The Mentor walks past the various types of maple, oak, American elms and black cherry trees that are interspersed among the tents and provide shade and cover, while others surround the camp. He observes the buildings encircling Central Park that are being guarded and protected by Shield Guardians acting as standing Sentinels. The Shield Guardians keep a close watch of the area using the tallest structures. Some buildings lay in ruins, others are crumbling from the blows of war. The Shield Guardians create a protective barrier using their energies, shaped in an oblong globe, hiding the encampment and protecting its denizens from attack. Men and women within the enclosure are wearing armbands bearing a symbol representing the resistance—an inscribed circle inside a square.

The Mentor is nearing a war tent abuzz with the activity of other foreign generals standing around a large war table. At the center of the tent stands The Commander, who takes the form of an Indigenous Human woman, graced with the features that are seen in the Lenape Nation. The Commander's black hair is braided and tightened into a bun. She wears a uniform that represents her rank in the U.S. Military, decorated with an insignia representing the 'General of the Army' of the United States. The Commander is known as 'Spirit from the Stars,' an accolade bestowed on her by the Iroquois Confederacy in honor of her relationship with the Indigenous natives in New York. She is respectfully addressed as 'General Stars' despite the Indigenous name on her name tape. Her copper skin glistens with rivulets of sweat dripping down her strong jaw amid the humid air. She's taller than the average Indigenous woman, mirroring how the aliens are normally taller than the majority of Humans when in Sentinel form. In their true form, the aliens tower over Humans like giants. The Commander of War stands strong and proud, her serious and intimidating demeanor exuding calm and confidence. The Commander's dark brown eyes focus on maps of New York and New Jersey. Larger maps of the United States and Canada are tacked on the board with markings of the enemy lines and locations and their respective positions at a larger scale.

The Mentor arrives at the tent as a young mulatto man, wearing a military uniform representing the United States. His light-green eyes follow the map The Commander is focusing on. They greet each other, projecting their emotions of honor and gratitude befitting their positions. The Commander is relieved to see him but notices the absence of The Sentinel.

The Commander of War returns to looking over her maps. "Is The Sentinel Awake yet?" She telepathically motions to him to enter the tent.

He goes inside the tent. "No, but He should be soon."

The Mentor and The Commander wait patiently for The Sentinels' arrival. They fill the time by discussing battle plans. The Mentor provides intelligence regarding the Beings of No Light. This is recognized as critically valuable information, as he is the only Being of Light that was formerly a Being of No Light. The Mentor understands the Nature of the Lightless Beings and how they operate. Soon, The One Between will share in this Knowledge.

In the forest surrounding the resistance encampment, an enemy lurks, reconnoitering the situation. Its Shield is strong enough to preclude detection by the Shield Guardians. The phantom moves through the Shadows around and inside the encampment. She is focused on The Commander of War from The Realm of Light and The One Between. Memorizing the schedules of all residing in the encampment and what goes on. Taking mental notes of every detail, right down to the animals used in their communications. All this information must be delivered to The Lord of No Light. The opportunity to fight against The One Between when given the order from her dark Lord titillates her. It makes her hunger for the battle to come. She carefully watches the tent hosting The One Between. Walking up a small hill is a young Human woman of moreno skin and short black hair, wearing a similar uniform. The soldiers' boots trek through a path of mud and grass to a small tent. The soldier arrives outside and waits patiently at the entrance of the tent, she can hear the chords singing in the trees around her. Their melody is comforting. A few fly away with the pleasant sounds of their chirps and the flapping of their wings.

The Commander hiding in the Shadows watches from afar among the trees and bushes, positioning herself to not be seen by Humans while continuing to Shield her presence from the dispersed Shield Guardians surveying for enemies from above. To her surprise, The One Between stares directly at her the entire time He walks down the edges of the encampment. Wooden pikes surround the encampment, separating it from a grassy clearing and the trees. She mentally cusses for being spotted, yet The One Between isn't moving towards her. Still, her Sibling continues to never look away from where she hides.

"How odd," thought The Commander of War from The Realm of No Light, confused by The One Between's behavior.

"Why would He not attack?" Impatient but intrigued.

Suddenly, there is a hush in the air as the bird songs fall silent. While spying on The One Between, a familiar voice interrupts The Commander of War.

"Still a disappointment I see." The Mentor steps out from the Shadows, pointing out The Commander's obvious failure to Shield.

A broad and tall Human woman of light skin and blonde hair rises in anger. "Fuck you, traitor. You out here… playing Mentor." She begins to laugh, now standing before The Mentor. She towers over his Human host to intimidate him with her size. "All of our Brethrenare laughing at your worthless ass."

"You have some nerve to be here and I have a lot of pent up rage to air out, but I won't, for the sake of The One Between and the Humans. I'm no fool and neither is The One Between. I know why you're here… spying. Like an Informant." The Mentor smiles, insulting The Commander of War. "You bastardize the name of 'The Commander of War.' What The Lord of No Light sees in you I'll never understand.It disgusts me."

The Commander acidically projects her thoughts toward The Mentor. "Has The One Between's lap dog come to defend Their bidding instead of Themself? Pathetic that my Brother has stooped to such a low… choosing to be this weak."

"Don't. Test. Me." The Mentor takes a few steps forward into the shadows of the trees around them, his human eyes shining like a predator.

"Give a message to our Brother, that I'm aware of his plans. He will not win."

"I'm not your fucking messenger. Tell him yourself." The Commander of War materializes a javelin, ready to fight.

The Mentor chuckles. "Are you sure you know how to use that?" He grins bemusedly, accompanied by a gentle bouncing of his shoulders.

Her eyes burn a bright blue, angry for being mocked for her limited Knowledge regarding weapons. She feels his judgement will always make The Mentor laugh at her shortcomings. Infantilizing her.

"Shut the fuck up!" The Commander growls threateningly, getting into a combat position.

The Mentor glares at the weapon and returns his gaze at The Commander and smiles. "I don't start fights. Not anymore." He pauses, his face darkens, staring down menacingly. "But I will end them." A bright electrical flash bursts from his hand, materializing a katana. Waiting for the invitation to strike her in defense after she strikes first.

"Yet you couldn't stop our Sibling from making The Pact. What a fucking failure, choosing to be someone's bitch!" She cackles into a growl.

The insults roll off him like water. He's not bothered for being mocked as a 'Mentor', aware that she is simply challenging him, believing she can defeat him.

"Our existence is Pain to gain Power. All else is meaningless. Remember?" says The Commander, reciting one of the tenets from The Realm of No Light.

The Mentor holds himself back from beating the shit out of The Commander of War. A low guttural and animalistic growl escapes his clenched human teeth. Without warning, The Mentor effortlessly cuts the tree next to him clean through with his sword. The weight of the wide trunk causes it to lean and crash to the ground. The Mentor's eyes flare red threateningly for a brief moment. He tightens his grip around the handle of his sword.

"Leave," he growls deep in his chest.

She grins. "You think you're safe now. …Just wait." Her eyes darken to pitch black, disappearing into the Shadows, her laugh echoing in the trees.

He feels a sharp Pain. She leaves a heavy weight in The Mentor's chest where his Light is housed, strangling it with her malice. The Mentor speculates about what his adversary has said. He decides to visit The King of Nightmares, hoping that there is a chance to dissuade The Brother by offering an ultimatum.

~~~~~
The Mentor visits The Realm of Nightmares where The Lord of No Light reigns. The Mentor wishes to parlay with His Brother. He continues to wear his military uniform and keeps the Human form he assumed while at the Human military home base. He walks through carnage, the aftermath of wars enmeshed within other wars. Screams of fallen soldiers, crying out for their mothers. The Mentor walks through the storm of blood, artillery firing across the expanse, eviscerating its targets. Gunfire rattling, blades clashing. The bullets slice through his body leaving no bleeding wound as they hit a large Viking warrior about to swing his broad sword at The Mentor from behind. The warrior falls into the mud, his blood splattering from the countless holes the bullets leave in their wake. Across the expanse of chaos lay bodies ripped apart, coming back to life with a twitch and a wet, sickening reknitting of flesh, tendons and bones intertwining with muscle. Eyeballs dangling by their nerves slowly returning into their sockets, the neck and wounds stitching themselves back together. Severed heads rolling back to their filthy, trampled bodies. The fallen soldiers come back to life to continue the onslaught of hell, crying out in vain.
The battle blends into an asylum of the insane and depraved, murderers carving into flesh, flaying the bodies of their victims. Entrails decorate the walls. Organs displayed like trophies. A child's arms wrap around a glass globe holding a beating heart. Its soulless eyes follow The Mentor who walks past. On the blood soaked floor lay bodies of children. Crying and screaming echo in the damp, filthy, decaying halls. With each step, The Mentor leaves behind bloody footprints. He continues to move through winding hallways that are continuously shifting into different forms of nightmares. The environment changes into a new hellish vista with each step he takes through the monstrous dreams.
Through the darkness, The Mentor arrives at the gate of The Realm of Nightmares. A dragon protects enormous jagged, black gates. In an open area, rocks surround a giant cave, the darkness hiding a terrifying creature. Growls reverberate through the surroundings. The giant creature's chest glows a bluish-violet in the Darkness, revealing its location inside the cave. The smell of Death. A thunderous growl booms across the harsh landscape, followed by a hissing screech. There is more than one source for the unholy sounds. From the Darkness protrude three heads, peering through the hellfire, flames shooting out like a falling star in the dead of night. The flames swirl of blue and violet, intimidating those who dare visit the gates to seek an audience with The Nightmare King. To be worthy of such an honor, one must prove one's worth by reaching his palace through the Labyrinth of Nightmares, weaved from the nightmares of all living and dead. But to cross the giant gate into the Labyrinth, one must first survive the dragon's attention until it permits passage.
It roars in a piercing high frequency that would damage a human ear to hear it. Its foul stench billows inside the cave. The ground shudders with each loud stomp of its paws, accompanied by the sounds of crunching and cracking. The Mentor hears the low guttural growls come closer. Bones fill the cave inside a mountain of dark jagged rocks. From The Guardian of the Gate explodes a thunderous column of fire rolling towards The Mentor. The dragon emerges to reveal its massive body, its large horns twisted on its heads, like crowns of burning black fire. The creature spreads its wings and its roars vibrate around The Mentor, but this hydra does not faze him. Its giant wings extend out, from its powerful wings a thunderous gust of wind causes the rocks to tumble. The bright flames slip through its large snouts and rows of razor sharp serrated teeth in its ravenous jaws. It raises its heads to roar into the air with a deafening screech to challenge The Mentor, fire once again erupting from its powerful jaws, converging into a giant fireball of dancing colors, illuminating the empty air with flames of lightning. Its black scales sparkle a deep violet as it moves. The wild incandescent flames fall back like cinders, touching the creature's scaly body and making it glow. The dragon's giant mass towers over The Mentor. Its glowing deep violet eyes menacingly follow its prey. Its heads' moves around to look at him from different angles. The dragon glares at the intruder, who does not run away or cower from the danger. This angers it. The two heads' from either side shoot fire to trap The Mentor while the other snaps and bites. The dragon swipes at him with its giant talons and issues a second withering salvo. The flames are hot enough to melt almost everything they touch. But The Mentor handily avoids these attacks, unflinchingly dodging the searing inferno. The dragon is singularly failing in its attempts to instill the proper sense of Fear and awe into this pesky nuisance of a visitor. Outraged, it roars in an ear-splitting screech, shaking the ground beneath it. The Mentor continues to stand there and wait. The dragon snaps at him with its razor sharp fangs, trying to catch him with its claws and devour him whole. The three headed beast snaps and spits fire with every move, but The Mentor is having none of it, treating the creature with a contempt that only enrages it further. There is no Doubt in him as he casually stands before it and effortlessly evades its lunges and pounces. The dragon growls into a roaring screech, the air above them ablaze in a brilliant blue and violet. Finally, it glares down in a hiss and moves aside. The gates open. The Mentor walks through into The Labyrinth.
The Mentor is unaffected by the nightmares adorning this fearsome abode as he calmly walks through a winding path of Fears, determined to see The Lord of No Light. Walking through the Labyrinth is a daunting challenge to all by a select few, but The Mentor knows his way around, unimpressed by the "challenges" put in front of him. Even so, he must be mindful to keep his feelings intact, for the Nightmares feed on the sorrows, Fears and Doubts of broken dreams. To fail here would be to unleash the nightmares who walk through its winding walls, alive and ever moving. Through the mist and darkness, the nightmares come to life. The walls change the path where the way one goes is no longer the same one they remember. The Labyrinth confuses and clouds one's sense of direction, leading one to become hopelessly lost.
From afar, a giant palace with the color of pitch is visible, slowly building itself upwards, touching the grayish thunderous sky of a terrible storm. Fire pours down like rain, igniting flesh, steel, and stone alike. The heavy reverberation of lightning is enough to jolt one with panic. The fire of distant comets breaks through the clouds, as if wanting to burn through and scorch the entire atmosphere in this forsaken place. A dark sun pulses violently in the blackened sky. Dark energy and nightmares manifest into solid form and provide the raw materials for the palace, which is constantly reconstituting itself at the center of the endless expanse of this Labyrinth. The materials briefly hesitate at first, hovering and circling around the massive structure of the castle before assimilating themselves into it. The Mentor comes to a clearing of dead trees. Twisted branches reach out like claws. The bushes black, scorched and the flowers wilt in a sea of rot. He ascends up the wide and long broken stairway, pieces of it crumbling in his wake. The doors are aflame in blue fire, reaching up so far that their true height cannot be ascertained. As The Mentor walks closer to the wide doors as the blue flames wildly change into flashes of reddish-orange and yellow. As he comes closer still the flames begin to dwindle until he stands directly before them, revealing the doors to have a constitution of smoke and cinders. He waits. The doors open slowly, loudly screeching at the hinges from metal rubbing metal, as they turn inward. The Mentor walks through them, followed by the thud of their massive heft as they close behind him.
He is cloaked in darkness. His eyes can still see all that is around him. He walks forward with a confidence bordering on arrogance, feeling the hard stone beneath his boots echo against the silence. There is a familiarity in roaming through the empty halls. The effervescence of the hitherto weak flickering blue flames contour the wide silhouette of a hallway, faintly illuminating part of the space around him. Still, the flames are too miniscule to reveal the path ahead or the space behind. He continues his trek through the winding halls. From a distance, he senses thermal radiation, as well as a heavy, pulling weight. The air moves in the direction behind him. He knows who is near. Suddenly, silence befalls The Mentor. It is the bone chilling silence that portends this terrible presence. He continues his march, but the sounds of his boots along the stone are absent, as though he wasn't walking or moving at all. The silence consumes him. He can sense it moving. Closer. Struggling to move forward, The Mentor presses on. He knows what is following him. It's nothing he can't handle. He listens, following his Instincts. Waiting.
"Ah, The Mentor comes to visit me? Are you here to teach me a lesson?" booms the familiar voice in the Darkness.
"I need to speak with you." The Mentor comes to a halt.
A giant creature from the Shadows rises behind him. The large throne room suddenly illuminates to life, revealing countless points of heat and radiance scattered throughout a giant circular abode centered with a giant dying star at its zenith. The light keeps the Darkness at bay, an ironic island of illumination at the very heart of this Realm of Fear and despair. The owner of the voice grins, sitting casually upon his throne made of starlight, sparkling silver and gold under the light of the dying star. The Nightmare King sits upon the cosmos. Separating the two Beings are long steps made of starlight. There can be no mistaking that the one occupying the throne is the one in Power. His impeccable physique towers over The Mentor below, who looks up to gaze at the black void of his Brother's smiling eyes looking down at him. The Mentor stands there with a solemn expression, aware of what is stalking him.
"…Kitty,that is not how we treat our honored guest," The Lord of No Light luxuriantly exclaims.
Kitty disengages from its planned attack on The Mentor, who continues to glare at his Brother, not caring what threatens him. Kitty is no threat to him. The light from the star warps around the giant creature, creating a silhouette of its shape where light cannot escape. Its exoskeletal body is a void in the shape of a giant spider-like creature. A single large horn protrudes from its cephalothorax. Its four pairs of misshapen long legs spread out in preparation for attack when given the command by its master. It wants to devour The Mentor to feed its vicarious appetite. It has not been fed for what seems like eons. A huge skull begins to take shape in its abdomen. Shadow-like smoke bubbles up behind the giant's mouth and slips through its razor sharp, jagged fangs. Through the opaque sheen of its void, the creature's face can be resolved into the form of a large demonesque skull adjoined with the smaller skulls of a human and another alien creature on either side, together forming its grotesque cephalothorax. Small black holes slip through its salivating mandible-like jaws, dribbling with noxious venom that burns and disintegrates into nothingness.
Suddenly the sound returns. Kitty crawls away. The Lord of No Light rises from his elaborate seat. Kitty creeps up the tall, dark walls shimmering with stars, and perches on the burning ceiling. The light of the dying star creates a warp silhouette of its body, distorting the light around its black mass. Its beady glowing red eyes shine through the hollow sockets of all three skulls. The four burning eyes on the demonic central skull follow The Mentor's every move, watching him like a guard dog tasked with protecting its master. Kitty stands ready to suck its victim into its body, another prisoner to be trapped inside its abdomen for all eternity. The creature suffers from a maddening hunger, denied a meal that it knows will not satiate its feeling of starvation, nevertheless wanting desperately to at least mitigate its craving by devouring the unwelcome visitor. The Lord of No Light exercises Power over his monstrous pet, controlling its size and making it smaller. Sound now reaches three feet away from its body, only to be sucked into it.
Grinning, The Lord of No Light slowly descends. The elements from the stars flow under his feet and solidify as steps. He stares down at The Mentor. His eyes, dark with delight, greet The Mentor's intense gaze. Neither of them blink or look away. The Lord's long shimmering black robe of glowing stars flutters behind him, the hem dragging behind him like an ethereal veil. The lining inside his robe appears to be on fire. The flames kissing his human flesh. The garment covers his shoulders, arms, and back, exposing the nakedness of a pale white Human body shimmering with starlight under the light from the star above. The blue of his veins mask the dark matter that pumps through his veins.
The Brother smiles. "I know why you're here. You want me to end The Pact with The One Between and instead, sacrifice your Light and return to me. You're a fool to think I would ever sever The Pact."
"Then a Promise. I Vow my allegiance to you. I will return to you and stay by your side for as long as we exist, if you release your Pact with The One Between. This entails that you never pursue or harm Them for as long as we exist. That yougive up your desire to have Them join you in The Realm of No Light and The Realm of Nightmares and all other Realms in your domain. This includes all dimensions, interdimensions, multiverses, and across all time–past, present, and future; and in the timeless. You will erase all memory of Them in your Consciousness. They do not exist in your reality."
Smirking, amused by The Mentor's demands… his Promise. The Brother pauses from where he descends. "A Promise?" A demonic laugh erupts from his Black Hole chest. "Have you forgotten? You still haven't fulfilled your other Promise to me. Your Promisesareempty.Worthless."
He is right. The Mentor reflects on how he hasn't fulfilled the Promise he's made in the past. The Mentor calmly asks, "…Then why haven't you come to collect… My unfulfilled Promise? I know you'd love to see me on my knees. Serving you."
The Brother continues to walk through the starlight towards The Mentor. "Why haven't I, indeed. I'm a very patient Lord of No Light. You more than anyone would know this. I know every atom and particle of you. You think I would forget who you really are? I yet have use for you. Appreciate your freedom." He grins.
The Mentor glares at the Lightless Lord. His former Lover. Thinking about what he means by his words, which make him feel deathly concerned despite his unflinching demeanor. He will soon uncover The Brother's hidden secrets.
"You seem pretty confident about winning Them over.You don't understand Their Nature like I do. They will never become like you… a monster."
An evil grin crosses The Lord of No Light's glowing face, not hiding his Intentions. He slowly glides towards The Mentor who is quietly and closely watching him.
"You must end this," The Mentor argues. "…This War and your interactions with the Humans will not end your Pain. Possessing The One Between will not end your suffering… Our suffering. All of this is pointless."
The Brother growls, warning him. "...You know I'm right," The Mentor retorts.
He ignores The Mentor's pathetic pleas. The Mentor empathizes with his Brother's suffering from the Knowledge they both possess. His energy encompasses The Brother, sharing his feelings that he is not alone in the Pain drawn from the vast cemetery of corpses in the Forbidden dimension where parts of The Absolute Truths are locked away in The Knowledge of Chaos.
"…You're wasting your time. Powermeans nothing to Them." The Mentor argues.
The Lightless Lord's charm is in his smile, his dark gaze piercing through his uninvited guest. He ignores The Mentor's words.
"Look how far you've fallen," he hisses as he stands in front of The Mentor. "You had so much potential."
The Brother begins to circle around The Mentor with a gentle smile upon his shimmering face. His eyes a void, the warped light of his pupils watch his former Lover closely. Following every detail of The Mentor, analyzing him.
"Such Power you wield. Now a disappointment. And you threw it all away for what?" He returns to face The Mentor.
The Mentor can feel The Lightless Lord trying to intimidate him with the Power emanating from his body. Unfazed by his Brother's threatening behavior, he ignores the passive aggression stabbing him.
"Hoping you become a Being of Light?" The Brother haughtily grins. "Trying to rectify all the evil you have done? Repentance to your "God?"" Sharp human canines show through his pale, ash-colored lips.
The Brother turns to glide away, not hiding his amusement. The Mentor smirks. "It's interesting you say that. I recall you never having an issue worshipping me… And I you."
The Brother silently floats in a fixed position, glaring at him, a hint of rage at the edges of his intense stare belying his calm expression. The Mentor returns a smile to dampen the tension in the freezing air. The Brother suddenly appears behind The Mentor. His arms wrap around him, his hands touching his chest and face. The Lord of No Light reminisces while he moves his hands across The Mentor's shoulder and down his arm and chest.
He breathes The Mentor's musty scent deeply as he seductively licks up from his neck to ear and whispers, "I know who you are better than The One Between. They don't appreciate you like I do." He kisses the nape of his neck, then bites down.
This intrusion causes The Mentor to hiss. A tingling pleasure erupts from the bite. The Brother's energy communicates his meaning to remind his fallen Lover of what he once was. What he Loved about The Mentor, the loyalty and respect he had for him and the Power he once possessed. The Mentor can sense The Brother misses his touch and the Connection they shared in the past.
"You are a beautiful creature of Chaosss." His words cause The Mentor's body to tingle. He Shields, denying The Brother's attempt to seduce him.
He walks around to face The Mentor. "I know it is not in your Nature… to be thiiss." The look of disgust burns in his Brother's eyes.
"You try so hard to be a "good" little Lightless Being. Pretending to be a "Mentor" when I know that is not your true self..."
He pauses, his expression empty of compassion. The Mentor only watches him, observing him calculatingly.
"Then what am I?" The Mentor responds calmly, his eyes betraying little emotion towards The Nightmare King's idea of flattery.
He caresses The Mentor's cheek, projecting his meaning that The Mentor still carries the Nature of Chaos, that he is a Being of No Light and not the Being of Light that The One Between sees him as.
The Brother grins. "...You ask me to tell you what you are now?" He pauses, his expression gentle.
He maliciously squeezes The Mentor's jaw and cheeks. "…Weak. A traitor. Useless like your stupid name."
He aggressively releases his hold of The Mentor's face, expressing his belief that The Mentor is a disgrace after taking the name 'Mentor.' An embarrassment to a once glorious and worthy pedigree. The title angers and disgusts The Brother to no end.
"You're a disappointment. You're living a lie!" he growls. The Mentor quietly listens, unbothered by the insults and taunts and the spiteful intrusion of his face.
"It's pathetic and disgusting to watch you worship The One Between like a God. It's beneath you. Because They don't care. Your existence means nothing to Them." He waves his hand in disinterest and crass judgment, walking away from The Mentor towards his throne. "Or have you forgotten what it felt when you learned of the Truth?" Fire burns black in The Lord of No Light's eyes, consuming the void within. The Mentor can feel his body burn like the fire upon his Brother's twisted crown.
The Mentor's tone changes. "What's pathetic is you started The War because I severed my Connection to you and left this void you call a home.Like a child having a tantrum because you think your favorite toy was taken away and everyone must suffer for it. You haven't changed."
"There is nothing to change. I am what I am.YourLord." He rises in the air beneath the dying star, the rings of fire pulsating around and through him, his body unaffected by the intense heat.
"I lost faith in you. From the beginning of my Friendship with The One Between, in Their presence They have never judged me. And They continue to not judge me despite everything. They helped me regain my Light. To see everything differently. They brought Hope. Something you lack. The One Between Loves mein ways you can never understand."
The enraged Brother rushes towards The Mentor. His cold hands wrap around his throat. Unfazed, The Mentor's shimmering eyes, burning of golden amber, glare right back at the fiery crimson red of The Brother's glowing fury. The Mentor can feel his Brother's rage emanating from his body. The Lord of Darkness' emotions engulf The Mentor, too heavy for words to express, suffocating The Mentor in a way that his Brother's hands cannot. A familiar sharp, burning sensation envelops his throat. A pain The Mentor shrugs off, smirking.
"What is the traitor doing here?" The Sister's disdain beams from her glowing blue eyes glaring down at the unwanted visitor.
The Sister descends down a long dark, starry set of steps that materialize under her feet as they had for her Brother. She wears thick silver armbands adorned with dark blue lapis lazuli, jasper and garnet fashioned around her wrists, ankles, and upper arm. The jewels glisten under the dimming light. Her beauty hides her wickedness. Taking on a Human form, sheer cream color fabric wraps around her body, not hiding her breasts. Her dress covered in dark blue of lapis lazuli, obsidian, decorated with dark red garnet, green jasper, deep violet amethyst, emerald, and bright orange carnelian, held together by thin gold thread in a kalasiris dress depicting vulture wings hugging her legs. The dress wraps around beneath her bosom, sparkling with every sway as she walks down the steps. Thin braids cascade down her shoulders and back. The ends of her thick black hair shine from the triangular-rounded silver cuffs.
He turns his head slightly to gaze upon his Sister. "Having a conversation with The Lord of No Light. Care to join us?" The Mentor grins, The Brother's hands still tightly wrapped around his throat.
She scoffs at The Mentor's invitation, walking towards The Lightless Lord. Her body has the color of ebony, adorned with the starlight of a night sky. The hem of her dress ends at her ankles and is held together by an elaborate and colorful sash. Her dress conforms to her body, hiding nothing. She walks with the confidence of a Queen. The hovering flames reveal the lavishly ornate broad collar around her long neck, made of gold metal inlaid with jewels. Laying at the center of her chest is a large pendant of a winged dark blue stone scarab holding a sun disk made of carnelian. A symbol represents everlasting life, made of an obsidian stone in the shape of an ankh, sways behind her back to counter weight the heavy necklace around her slender neck. Her goddess-style braids are woven with silver and gold metal and adorned with similar precious stones she wears on her clothes. Her thick braids are styled to mimic the atef crown upon her head woven with white plant stems and flanked by two red ostrich feathers on either side. The crown is adorned with a simple carnelian circlet between her dark grey horns, which are shaped similar to a ram's. The crown is woven into her beautiful black hair, symbolizing life and death, ruler of the physical and spiritual realms, order juxtaposed with chaos.
"I have no interest in what you have to say. You're not welcome here, Lightchaser."
The Mentor stares down at The Sister while she wraps her Human arms around her Lover, smiling and kissing his bare neck and shoulder. She glares at her traitorous Brother across from her. The Mentor is not fazed by the insult of being Othered. The Lord of No Light's irises of crimson melts away and returns to shine like the reddish-orange and yellow rings of stellar black holes. The Lightless Lord touches His Sister's hand on his bare chest, his anger still simmering in his eyes despite his Queen's kisses of comfort. He pulls away and releases his grip from The Lightchaser's throat.
The Brother cannot hide his discontent. "You can never erase what you have done! You can't hide who youtruly are!"
The Mentor feels his past tug at his body. "True, I cannot change my past. I chose to be who I am now," his meaning and Intention projecting his Truth. "I am nothing like you..." The Mentor smirks. "...and it tears you up inside seeing me with The One Between. Jealousy is unbecoming of you."
The Nightmare King angrily pushes The Sister away from him. The atmosphere becomes heavy and searingly hot. The dead star erupts above them in a chain reaction from his rage. The throne room burns bright, melting into chaos. The Lightless Lord's flesh burns on the periphery of his Black Hole, threatening to spread out like a wildfire. His twisted, wild horns tear through his head. His flesh burns into ash and drifts away into the chilling air, revealing his nebulous form beneath, his naked body free of armor to emphasize his Power to intimidate and insult The Mentor. The Sister stands aside and ascends in Fear, hoping to avoid entanglement in her Lord's wrath. She knows better than to try to moderate His outbursts. She watches silently from the relative safety of her vantage point.
The dark matter and antimatter inside the King of Nightmares annihilate each other with his rage. "I know your Nightmare! Your Fear!" He roars, his body growing larger before The Mentor, who is still in his Human form.
"Because I know it will torment you to watch Them lose Their Light each time They gain Forbidden Knowledge in the dimension of Chaos!" He growls, taking a step forward. "I look forward to your suffering once I have Them! RapingThem! I will watch you on your hands and knees in despair as you watch me take pieces of Them!ChangingThe OneBetweento be one of usss!" His hiss degenerates into an animalistic growl animated by pure hate.
The Brother intensely projects his meaning like daggers to project a fate he has prepared for The One Between that will be worse than Death. The Lightless Lord glares at The Mentor. His Power and rage descend on The Mentor with such force that he feels the sharp stabs of his Brother's dark energy through his Light and his entire being. But The Mentor can handle the Pain that grows inside his Light. The Lord's wrath does not disrupt his calm demeanor. He is intimately familiar with The Lord of No Light's rage and threats, sharp as a blade.
"They will experience the kind of Pain that will make them go insane, but we know it's better They Kill Themselves! And you can do nothing! This all ends with them!"
The Mentor stands firm, calm, not giving into The Dark Lord's threats with his emotions. The sharp, burning sensations of dark energy stab The Mentor, the Powerful stings creating a deep Pain of emptiness inflicted on his Light, but he shrugs it off, knowing The Brother is trying to rile him up to respond with blind fury. His body shifting into his true form as a Being of Light, growing into its real size like his Brother.
"You underestimate Them. I'll make sure you fail!" comes The Mentor's rebuke.
"You can't stop me when you have this!" He grabs The Mentor's bright flaming Light viciously through his chest, squeezing it as his energy begins to engulf it with his Darkness.
The dark matter invades The Mentor's being, poisoning him inside out. The antimatter attacks his Light like cancer. His Light slowly changes into a Black Hole, shock manifesting in The Mentor's eyes. Fear. The Brother's grin reveals his fangs as he begins to chuckle, watching The Mentor trying to stop him. He grabs the Nightmare King's wrist and forearm, attempting to remove the Powerful grip around his Light. He can feel the Darkness welling up and slithering outwards from his chest. The Mentor can feel the suffocating Pain from the dark energy consuming his being. He slowly begins to transform into his former self, a Being of No Light. His glowing red eyes stare back at the void of The Lord of No Light's obsidian black eyes, driving Fear into The Mentor. The Mentor feels a strong urge to mangle The Lord of No Light, but he resists, knowing what his Brother is trying to do to him by forcing him to embrace his rage and bloodlust. To let go and be consumed by pleasure.
Power… feels good.
Despite wanting to give in to the pleasure of his Power and his desire to tear his Brother apart, He continues to resist the rage. The same rage he felt when his Brother made The Pact with The One Between. The Lord of No Light knows his opponents' intimate thoughts, their rage and Fears, their desires and pleasures. He breathes them. Twists and corrupts. He knows the dark secrets of all who are unfortunate enough to consort with him.
"Fight it," The Mentor desperately tells himself, knowing that his failure to do so would hurt The One Between.
He Fears losing The One Between forever, disgusting Them with disappointment. The Lightless Lord tears open The Mentor's memories of the past, all the memories of what he was and what he's done. Silent screaming, his Consciousness feels like it will erupt. The Mentor feels like he's being ripped apart from the change, as if he was dying in his Brother's hands. The Brother's laughter echoes loudly until The Mentor springs up Awake in Fear, grabbing at his chest where his Light shines. He can still hear his Brother's cruel disembodied laughter. He lays there in a cold sweat, his body shivering. Gasping, he looks at his chest. Feeling disturbed despite seeing his Light shining brightly, the fire in his chest quivers from the emotions of his lingering Nightmare. It felt real. The change. The rage of being transformed into a monster, only to awake in his normal form. A Being of Light. His trauma rears its ugly head. He breathes heavily, afraid of what happened and that the Darkness is somehow still enslaving him. The feeling of a phantom clawing at his Light.
"…It's only a Nightmare." He tells himself as he tries to steady his mind and body, letting go of the Fear he harbors in his Light.
The One Between sits up from where They slept. "What's wrong?" A gentle hand touches his hand still grabbing his chest. "…A bad Dream?" They slowly move closer to hug him. "It's okay. I'm here."
The One Between places a gentle kiss on The Mentor's cheek, Their hand still placed over Their Lover's chest where his Light dimly shines. The Mentor pulls Them into his lap, straddling him. He inhales deeply into Their neck to ground himself into the arms of his Lover. Calm. Peaceful. He clings to the comforting pure energy The One Between generates like an intense aura, warming his Soul. Breathing in Their sweet scent. The Mentor's heavy breathing slows from the gentleness of The One Between's touch, feeling the vibrations of the energy from Their Love envelop him. He lets himself get lost in it. They pull away to lay Their forehead on his. The Mentor kisses Them deeply, rekindling his desires. They return the same passionate kiss as he pulls Them closer to him in a tight embrace. The Mentor's energy runs through his hands and fingertips, a moan escaping The One Between's lips, Their head rolling back to expose Their neck. He can sense Their desires and answers Their needs. He wants to make up for what he's done to The One Between during Their training. He doesn't care about his own needs, though making Love to Them helps him forget the heavy feeling of emptiness in his chest that The Brother placed there. Remembering his Nightmare chills him to his core, but he is reassured in the knowledge that His Love for The One Between and Their Love for him can never be broken. The Brother can never sever his Connection with The One Between.
He lays his head on Their chest, tingling with comfort. Taking Them in. He takes pleasure in how Their body shivers in his hands. Vibrating, two Souls dancing in each other's Lights. The One Between's energy mixes with The Mentor's in an intimately colorful swirl of stardust twinkling in a nebula. The Lovers drown in each other's embrace. He lifts The One Between, Their legs promptly wrapping around his waist as he maneuvers himself to gently lay his Lover down on the bed. The One Between pulls him in closer with Their legs, while he kisses Their glowing chest. Its Light jumps at the sensation of the trail of passionate kisses on Their stomach and up to its neck. The One Between moans with every touch of its Lover's lips. Their hands clench at the sheets of the bed, overwhelmed by his gentle touch laced with the vibrational energy of tingling bliss, causing Their body to glow. He continues to caress Their stomach with his hand moving across Their chest and up Their neck and cheek. It feels as if he isn't touching Them yet the pleasure remains throughout Their body. His energy flows through every atom and particle of The One Between's being. The tingling sensation of blissful surrender between Lovers. The Mentor knows intimately Their very essence. They feel Their Lover become a part of Them, shuddering in his energy through waves of ecstasy. The Lovers' bodies glow a brilliant bluish-white, their Lights burning brightly, aflamed by their passions. A carnal desire winds through their bodies. He gently kisses Them. The One Between opens Their mouth to receive his tongue, their energies flowing through, tongues dancing. A small spark of energy flashes between their mouths as their lips part to take in each other's essence. The Mentor can feel his Lover's aggressive Nature rising up as They bite his bottom lip, wanting more. He happily obliges, his energy intensely rushing through The One Between, eliciting a groan and freeing his sparkling lip. His Lover surrenders into The Mentor's experienced hands, intoxicated. Its body aches with the overwhelming pleasure, wanting ever more of him. The Mentor sends The One Between over the edge, seeing stars from a bliss that never ends. Consuming its body in euphoric oblivion, eyes rolling back. His Lover moans loudly, unable to move. Their blissful noises are music to The Mentor's ears. Smiling at his Lover's reaction to his inner essence and life force. He never tires from The One Between's reactions as They squirm from under him from the intensity of his vibrational Love. Frozen in this ocean of never ending bliss, The Mentor's eyes glow like molten gold and bronze. The One Between's eyes burn with insatiable desire, its body devouring his passions. He lifts Them up to straddle him again as Their ecstasy vibrates into his arms, wrapping Themselves around him tightly. The sounds of moans between gasps fill the air. He flows with Their sexual force, allowing himself to feel the blissful Connection, surrendering to The One Between's essence. The Mentor feels close to the edge, moving quicker in sync with The One Between's insatiable needs. Their head gently comes to a rest on his shoulder with Their face buried into the nape of his neck. A drawn out moan escapes both their lips as The One Between lifts Their head back, clinging onto him tightly. Their horns joining together, The One Between's many emanations wrapping around The Mentor's like vines into an arboreal shape. Joining as One.
The Lovers climax together, signified in the colors of the starlight and nebulae, exploding within both their vibrating bodies. The colors of the visible spectrum swirl within each other as mutual waves of overwhelming pleasure take them to a euphoric heavenly high. They rest its forehead onto The Mentor's, their eyes never leaving each other's intense gaze. The One Between holds The Mentor's head between Their hands as They continue to engulf The Mentor in its blissful embrace. A small smile forms at the corners of The Mentor's lips. He wants more, tightening his hold on his Lover as if They would disappear from his arms into starlight. He caresses Their shaking body, leaving a trail of electric stardust swirling from his gentle touches. His Lover moans loudly into another intense orgasm. He flutters Them with kisses on Their exposed neck. The One Between's overwhelming climax blazes and crackles throughout his body to his release, letting go of his pent up emotions of rage and frustration. The Mentor's worries slip away into bliss. He moans into his Lover's neck. The One Between shivers with each intense tingling explosion. The energies join in a consummation. The Mentor and The One Between hold each other in the quietness, the Lovers' bodies glowing brightly like a newborn star. The Light in The Mentor's and The One Between's chest flutters like flaming starlight glimmering brightly as they gaze into the bliss resonating in their shimmering, bright eyes. Nothing seems to exist except them and their Love.
Glossary of the Alien Language
1 Awake is when a Being of Light or No Light wakes from "sleep" from being in other realms/dimensions/planets as energy beings. They take physical form in either their original bodies or take a physical form of another life form, also known as a Sentinel (See Sentinel). This happens when occupying a realm/plain they're not native to when interacting with the native species of that planet. This also implies that they can be in more places than once in all three of their true forms: physical, energy body, and Consciousness (See Conscious/Consciousness). They can separate themselves to travel to other realms/planets/dimensions and be across different parts of a timeline/world lines (past, present, and future) at the same time.
2 Power is a weapon that is very powerful (indeed, the ultimate power) and can be difficult to wield and control depending on who holds it. It can be used to harm and Rape others or help others. Power can be chaos or can bring balance, depending on how it's used. Power is mostly used as a weapon in The Realm of No Light, but for the Beings of The Realm of Light it's mostly used for good and to maintain the balance of the universe. Beings of Light use Power on others only after being given consent or to force a life form to carry out an action that the Beings of Light believe is necessary for the good of that life form. They do not abuse Power to harm and control others like the Beings of No Light. Too much Power leads to destruction, chaos and imbalance when used irresponsibly.
3 Light represents the Beings of Lights' life force as a flaming light located in the middle of their chest. It is the heart of the Beings of Light to represent a Soul (See Soul).
4 Death/Die is the final Death. This means the life form(s) would cease to exist. The Beings of Light and No Light cannot die because they are immortal.
5 Sentinel is similar to a Vessel (See Vessel) except that its Powers (See Power)and skills are not limited and Beings of Light and No Light can use one while appearing as a species other than their own. All Beings of Light and No Light can become a 'Sentinel' when on a foreign planet pretending or passing as a member of a native species, though this is permitted only under certain circumstances.
6 Shield Guardian/Shield/Guardian is a protector and/or guard of a life form, place, and/or objects. They can be warriors/soldiers in combat to protect a place and/or life forms and/or battle in a war. It depends on the situation and context. They can be assigned to guard and protect other life forms and Beings of Light and No Light until released.
7 Nature is the body, behaviors, and emotions of all life forms, which are unique to each species, society, culture, and biological entity. However, The Absolute Truth (See The Absolute Truth) is that this Nature identifies each species, culture etc. and that it represents a constant that unifies and characterizes them.
8 Knowledge is facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation and gathering of information. The body of truths or facts accumulated in the course of time by the Beings of Light and No Light. Something that is or may be known or the sum of what is known by the Beings of Light and No Light. Humans and other life forms are barred from learning and knowing this Knowledge unless the Beings of Light and No Light choose to share their Knowledge. This also refers to The Akashic Records (See The Akashic Records) of all the Knowledge stored there. Moreover, Knowledge is neither good nor bad, which pertains to how it is used.
9 Shadow(s) are where entities/creatures come from and are called upon by the Beings of No Light. Beings of No Light create and control Shadow creatures/entities. The Shadows are also another form of travel for Beings of No Light and the entities/creatures to other Realms and dimensions where shadow is present. The Shadows can be used to hide oneself and another form of Shielding (See Shield).
10 Brethren/Sibling(s)/Brother(s)/Sister(s) represents all Beings of Light and No Light as siblings to each other. They are separated by The Line between their respective Realms: The Realm of Light and The Realm of No Light. All Beings of Light and No Light are Connected and related to each other like Family without biological relation. Incest is not part of their language, and therefore can be intimate Partners/Lovers with each other.
11 Shield is an energy/force- like barrier that shields the body and mind from harm. Beings of Light and No Light have this ability naturally but vary in how strongly they can wield it. It can also be used to protect others.
12 Mentor(s)/Teacher guides their Pupil/Student in their life (See Pupil). The lessons are individualized, specifically based on the Student's role and the function assumed in a given action or process. Oftentimes, the Mentor uses unconventional teaching methods. This also entails the strengths and weaknesses of the Pupil/Student to overcome challenges and improve skills. Mentors continue to teach and educate their Student(s) in all subjects the Mentor deems necessary: mathematics; science; history; humanities; physics; biology; economics; culture; astronomy; combat/fighting; etc., for their Student(s) to grow in their Knowledge (See Knowledge) and understanding of the world around them. Mentors are responsible for their Pupil(s) and guide their Students to prepare them for their missions and their journey in life (i.e. in realms; dimensions; past; present; future). Normally, this also entails the Pupil learning on their own without the Mentor's guidance.
13 Sibling See Brethren/Sibling(s)/Brother(s)/Sister(s).
14 Informant is a spy that gathers valuable information and supplies social or cultural data in answer to the questions of an investigator. Informants play an important role and are sent to collect Knowledge (See Knowledge) that are difficult to attain.
17 Dreams/Nightmares is a life form(s) or the individual themselves dream that they are experiencing or being present in or sharing a dream with another life form(s) dream. (See TheRealm of Dreams (and Nightmares).
18 Darkness is another way to describe The Realm of No Light. It is the completion of darkness where no light will ever shine and where the creatures of darkness reside. Any place with darkness is a doorway for the Beings of No Light and their creatures/monsters to pass through as a natural form of transportation to a place where darkness is already found (such as the inside of a cave). It also represents the negative energy and darkness one holds inside of them. It will or can corrupt if not controlled and the individual doesn't acknowledge it and heal. The darkness can overpower and turn the individual into a Being of No Light if they lack the strong will to overcome it.
19 Fear is the deepest, most terrifying fear. The emotion of Fear universally applies to all life forms (everyone has experiences based on Fear(s)). It is the fear life forms will not admit to and will hide from it. Fear is tied to Doubt (See Doubt). Fear can be destructive and violent. However, Fear can lead to protecting oneself out of survival. Fear applies to The Law and The Absolute Truth (See The Law; See The Absolute Truth). Fear and Knowledge (See Knowledge) can cause one to lose their Light/Soul (See Light) or it can help an individual grow and change as a person. Fear can both lead to destruction and chaos or it can lead to progress. Fear can lead to solutions towards peace and keeps the balance in The Universe if used for the right reasons depending on each individual and their circumstances. All of creation shares the emotions related to fear and logic based on their experiences.
20 The Realm of Dreams (and Nightmares) is the realm that all life forms experience inside nightmares and dreams. All life forms have access to this realm because all life forms dream. Beings of Light and No Light and all other life forms can participate in combat/spars in this realm against each other and/or interact with each other.
21 Doubt is tied to Fear and is the deep feeling of one's true ability, identity, and anxieties of oneself, manifesting as uncertainty. Doubt creates a strong weakness in the individual and can hinder them in every aspect to where it can be detrimental and dangerous and lead to guaranteed failure. Doubts are like lies to oneself. It challenges Instinct and hinders from acting on Instinct. Instinct can overcome Doubt if the Beings of Light and No Light have a strong will and know themselves completely.
22 Promise/Oath/Vow is a vow that can never be broken. A Promise results in a Pact (See The Pact) you make with the other(s). You make this type of Promise to those you deeply love, trust, and respect. To Promise is a very important word to say to another or when giving a Promise to another. A Promise is not taken lightly and should only be used with complete certainty. The one making the Promise keeps it and depending on the Promise, honors it or forever be tied to the other in servitude until The Pact is broken by another: on rare occasions a Healer strong enough to sever it, or a Being of Light or No Light the Promise is made to release the servant, or the Promise has Intentionally been fulfilled. The one who has not fulfilled the Promise will only become a servant when the other demands it when they feel the Promise is not going to be trulyfulfilled. The Being cannot demand its servant to harm another or themselves or the one it's made the Promise to. This also means the Being cannot force the servant to fulfill the Promise. The servant is the only one to fulfill the Promise Intentionally.
23 Black Hole represents the Beings of No Light life force as a black hole (absent of Light) located in the middle of their chest. The Beings of No Light is without a Light and it represents their incompleteness and symbolizes having no Soul.
24 Partner/Lover can be both a Being of Light or No Light. It represents companionship and an intimate Connection of Being One with another. They all fall under LGBTQIA and have queer relationships, all can be either monogamous or polyamorous in their relationships.
25 TheAbsolute Truth is many truths in one that cannot change and is eternal, representing The Universe and The Laws.
26 The Connection is a deep and intimate bond between the Beings of Light and/or No Light. Knowing a Being's Hidden Name (See Name/Secret Name/Hidden Name) is this Connection. Having this Connection allows you to summon a Being of Light and No Light located anywhere in The Universe by calling on their Name and they will appear. The Connection can also be shared with other life form(s). This allows The One Between to feel and experience what the other life form is experiencing and feeling. The Connection is also a representation of starbound Lovers (See Lovers; See Being One/One) sharing one Soul and body (soulmates/twin flames).
27 Hope is a powerful weapon like Love and is one of the things that survives a terrible event and experience. It is one of the powers to defeat darkness and is an Absolute Truth. Hope is incorruptible.
30 The Other/Outsider can be an insult if the Being perceives it that way. It describes another life form as an outsider that is not part of their community, world and existence. They refuse to accept them and block them from their life or existence. Severing their Connection and being ostracized.
31 Truth/True is a fact and can only change with new evidence/fact(s), and/or the deepest identity of oneself. It can also mean Knowledge or your personal truth. This can also refer to the Absolute Truth (See The Absolute Truth).
33 Rape is translated to "power, control and violence" and does not only encompass the human concept of rape (sexual assault and sexual violence).
34 Kill See Death/Die.
35 Soul See Light.
36 Being One/One has more than one meaning depending on the context. One can represent all of Creation or Unity. Can also mean the Beings' bodies become One and are Connected (See The Connection) in a deep and intimate way where they feel each other's bodies, emotions, and thoughts; becoming One Being in a sexual manner.
