Chapter 9 - I'm Gonna Thrill You Tonight, III

Opening the bedroom door, he saw that it was indeed a well-kept room. There was a window on the central wall; in the same direction, a single bed. On it were thick sheets and a soft, comfortable pillow, entirely designed to give the place an air of hospitality.

In the living room, Morbius and Bill were talking about something. Both were focused and seemed to speak seriously about the subject. Along with the conversation, they were drinking tea.

"And then? Did you see 'that' when we were coming back?" Bill asks.

"Yes... that thing, right?" Morbius answers with another question.

" 'That' was terrifying; it felt like it was following us, but even so, it stayed far away... even far away, you could still feel its presence."

"But one thing bothered me..." Bill was saying, and Morbius looked at him.

"It seems our guest wasn't feeling 'its' presence. Could they have something in common?" Bill fell silent.

"Let's not jump to conclusions for now; otherwise, we might scare him. Come on. It's time for you to take the shot."

Bill stood up, went up the stairs, and turned right, leading to another part of the floor. Entering there, what could be seen could be considered a chemistry lab: several tables, several cabinets storing medicines, poisons, powders, equipment, and also syringes.

Morbius opens one of the drawers and takes one of these syringes.

He removes the plunger and adds a watercolor-blue liquid inside. He puts the plunger back and goes to Bill, who was sitting in a chair.

Morbius injects the syringe into Bill, and he begins to feel constant pain, to the point of making faces. The lights began to flicker throughout the mansion.

His veins begin to pulse; he foams at the mouth, and his teeth, for a few moments, become sharp before returning to normal. And the lights stop flickering.

Bill's clothes were a bit torn. Morbius kept his face expressionless. He simply pulled the syringe out of Bill's arm and threw it in the trash, as the ones they had were disposable.

Bill stands up from the chair with great difficulty, as his legs were trembling a lot. Morbius holds him by the arm for support, and Bill is able to walk better.

They leave the lab, and Morbius locks the door with a red key. He then puts it in his pocket and helps Bill to his room, which was just a bit past the lab.

When they get there, Bill's room isn't very pleasant. It was more like a cell than a room. Its door was reinforced metal, and the walls were thick and lined with pure steel. There was no bed, no table, nothing—nothing that a young man his age would have in his room.

"Morbius... this won't hold me for much longer, you know?"

"I am aware, sir, but why do you want to keep it like this?"

"If I want to keep you safe, or anyone else, I'll need to do this, so no one gets hurt again. If not, the shit that comes will be much worse than in the past."

Bill looks at Morbius and smiles. Morbius does the same and then locks the door with Bill inside.

Morbius inhales and exhales as a way to stay calm. He wished this wasn't happening to Bill, someone so young, carrying such a heavy weight on his shoulders.

In John's room, a few moments ago, the light was flickering, flickering a lot.

John leaves the room to investigate what was happening. In the hallway, the light was flickering too. So, he deduces that this is happening in the whole house, and then, he starts seeing things again.

At the end of the hall, specifically near the window, there was a man. He had his back to John, looking out the window. This man wore a black suit and had very short hair.

John starts to hear voices.

"Are you going to have any future at all if you just stay in this room?!"

"Why don't you go find a job, you moron?!"

"If you wanted to be like that whore of a mother of yours, you just had to say so, and I'd beat you up in a heartbeat."

John's vision starts to get blurry, and he puts his hand to his head. He feels it hot, very hot, and his eyes start to burn, with that red light appearing again.

Outside the mansion, someone was watching everything. In the garden, well hidden, was that slender and very tall creature. It watched everything contentedly. Seeing this situation, the red light was also on the outside.

The sky was red, and there wasn't a single cloud. This light begins to attract some creatures that weren't around the mansion. One was central to all this: a man with burned skin, long hair, but with certain parts missing it, leaving only a few strands.

His clothes were completely torn and full of ashes, and he held a very large axe with both arms. It was practically on the ground because it was much heavier than him, so he walked slowly due to the weight.

The creatures around didn't even try to attack him, because he already looked like one of them. At this point, although few, those monsters were quite strong physically. One of the "blind" corpses was there, along with all of them.

There were three, counting the current one. They walked slowly to the mansion, but were blocked by the gate, and they began to force the gate until it was knocked down.

Back in the mansion, John hears a shot being fired, and that man standing in front of him was now on the floor, bloody. Then, he hears more shots being fired.

That man who had only one gunshot hole now has several across his body, and the blood from his body begins to spread across the entire hallway.

This blood begins to crawl up John's body, as if it were some kind of parasite.

It starts to spread over his body. He felt that blood staining all his skin. John starts trying to wipe the blood off with his hands but can't. The more he tried, the dirtier he became again, and then, he starts to scream.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

John's scream is heard by Morbius, who, upon hearing it, runs straight to the hallway leading to the guest room. After arriving there, Morbius sees John writhing on the floor, foaming heavily at the mouth.

His face was pale, and his eyes didn't even blink. Morbius runs to him and starts slapping his face, but it doesn't help much, until he decides to do something different with John.

He closes his fist and starts beating him. In his mind, the pain would make him "wake up" for good, so that John would regain consciousness.

And about the red light? No, Morbius doesn't see it, nor was the corpse of that man John saw even there. It seemed more like a hallucination, or it was a hallucination.

John's face was already bleeding, and so he finally regains consciousness.

"Stop! You can stop! Please, stop!" John screams.

Morbius then stops his punches and sits near the wall, breathing heavily and exhausted.

John gets up from the floor and begins to feel the pain of the blows, which had opened several wounds on his face, but at least he was safe.

In that prison room that Bill calls a "bedroom," he was lying on the floor—a floor that seemed to be made of something very soft, like mattresses. Several parts of this mattress were torn, with foam coming out everywhere.

He seemed to be in a good sleep, but in reality, he was writhing. He dug his nails into the mattress, deeper and deeper. He pulled them out and put them back in again, doing it fiercely, full of fury.

His eyes were red, his hair messy, his clothes torn, and his veins pulsing from his body. Bill's nails were very sharp, his body was also cut, and he agonized from so many things happening in his body.

He had a massive headache. He hit the sides of his face constantly, as if he wanted to stop something.
