Chapter 144 - Chapter 145 I Have a Big Treasure

"Dr. Banner, based on Selvig's previous research data, designed a program to detect gamma-ray fluctuations. Five minutes ago, this program suddenly detected a strong fluctuation in the gamma frequency of the Tesseract!"

Nick Fury didn't mince words and said directly, "I think we can proceed!"

Hearing this, Finney felt a little regretful. In at most another hour, he could have drawn his seventh skill, but he didn't care. He was confident he could defeat Loki even without the seventh skill.

Previously, he hadn't used his full strength because he had just returned from Vormir and didn't want to damage the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, which allowed Loki to escape.

Moreover, the Avengers were also involved this time. Even if he didn't participate, Loki's fate probably wouldn't be good. Thor alone was enough to give him a headache.

Add to that Captain America, who was evenly matched, and the hidden Hulk, and his chances of winning were infinitely close to zero.

Aboard the Quinjet, Finney was still practicing his skills. He glanced at Black Widow beside him, ignoring her surprised look, and summoned a large bunch of 'Violet Chicken Wraps' before destroying them with a low-powered, instantaneous 'Explosion Magic'.

His mission was to retrieve the Tesseract with Black Widow.

Black Widow had originally intended to do this alone, but Nick Fury, considering Loki might have set up some kind of protection around the Tesseract, ultimately asked Finney to join him.

After all, he was the strongest of them all, and his 'Possessed' ability included invisibility, perfectly complementing Black Widow's infiltration.

Finney, who already wanted the Space Stone, didn't refuse.

  "What are you doing?"

Black Widow asked, her eyes filled with confusion as she looked at Finney's actions.

  "Try it!"

Finney didn't answer, but casually summoned a chicken wrap on Black Widow's lap, continuing to practice his skills and gain experience.

Black Widow was slightly startled by the sudden appearance of the chicken wrap on her lap.

She hesitated for a moment, glanced at Finney who seemed unwilling to acknowledge her, and ultimately, like Captain America, succumbed to the allure of the aroma, biting into the door to this new world.

After eating, Black Widow felt a pang of heartache at Finney's actions.

However, unsure of Finney's motives, she didn't know how to stop him. Fortunately, the Quinjet was fast enough, and soon the two reached an altitude where they could jump out.

As Finney watched Natasha leap from the plane's exit with her parachute, he suddenly wondered, "Why did she jump out of the plane instead of having me open a portal?"

Because of his flight ability, Finney didn't need a parachute. He casually walked to the exit, jumped, and followed Black Widow's figure.

"Why didn't you let me open a portal to send you down?"

Finney asked, somewhat puzzled, beside Black Widow.

Natasha, struggling to adjust her descent, hesitated for a moment, but explained, "Director Fury had Dr. Selvig specifically research your portal. While he couldn't stop it, collecting energy fluctuations and detecting the teleportation location within a small area seemed to be barely possible." "

So, just in case, it's best not to use this ability for the upcoming infiltration."

Finney glanced at Black Widow indifferently. Although he had long anticipated Nick Fury secretly considering dealing with him, the fact that it was confirmed was still unsettling.

Black Widow, knowing she was in the wrong, didn't dare say anything more, carefully adjusting her descent to prepare for her parachute landing.

The country controlled by Loki was one Finney had never heard of before. Although it was called a country, it was actually only the size of a city.

After being taken over by Loki, it was completely sealed off, preventing anyone from entering or leaving. Fortunately, it had only been a short time, so there was no chaos.

Upon reaching the ground, Finney immediately activated his 'Possessed' invisibility and infiltrated with Black Widow.

Although he was far stronger than Black Widow in terms of raw power, she was far superior in intelligence gathering and infiltration.

So, under Finney's admiring gaze, they determined the approximate location of the Tesseract in less than ten minutes.

"Thor can begin the operation now!"

Natasha reported to Nick Fury not far from a military base. Because they weren't sure if Loki was also inside, they had to wait for Loki to appear before they could infiltrate.

Shortly after she finished speaking, the weather outside the city suddenly darkened, with dark clouds gathering and lightning flashing. Then, Finney suddenly heard a roar:

  "Loki, come out right now!"

Instantly, the invisible Finney sighed and rubbed his forehead. Would Loki really fall for such a blatant bait?      To Finney's surprise, less than ten minutes later, Nick Fury's message came through his earpiece: "Loki has appeared! Go find the Tesseract!"

  "He really went!?"

Finney was astonished. He sensed something was amiss, but before he could think about it, Black Widow had already begun carrying out the order. With a few swift attacks, she took care of the guards and rushed inside.

Finney frowned and followed. He felt things were going too smoothly. Loki, even if somewhat arrogant, wasn't stupid. He was gone just because Thor called him!   Especially when he entered the military base and reached the room supposedly containing the Tesseract, he immediately sensed something was wrong.

Thanks to the Space Stone's teleportation, his portal skills were now extremely advanced even in Kamar-Taj, and his understanding of spatial power was profound.

So when he entered the room, he immediately sensed a chaotic spatial force.

The power to control space is not so easy. Kamar-Taj's portals seem simple to open, largely due to the slingshot mechanism. Even so, maintaining spatial stability is crucial during opening and closing.

Otherwise, a mishandling could cause spatial collapse and turbulence.

Therefore, in Kamar-Taj, no one uses portals as an attack. Success is fine, but failure could result in mutual destruction, being swept into another dimension.

Generally, space is very stable, except in special circumstances, such as the once-in-five-thousand-years celestial conjunction in the original storyline.

But here, Finney felt the surrounding space was very thin and chaotic, giving him an immediate sense of being ambushed.

This situation meant he couldn't use his portals carelessly.

Without accurate location pinpointing, being teleported to a place on Earth would be fine, but being teleported to another dimension or outer space would be disastrous.

Just as Finney was about to call Natasha to retreat, all the doors and windows sealed shut, and then Loki suddenly appeared before him.

"The Silver Knight…right, or do you prefer the Divine Punishment Knight!?"

The moment Loki appeared, Natasha pulled out her pistol and fired a barrage of shots, but the bullets passed right through the figure, causing no harm whatsoever.

Finney, having already realized it was just an illusion, didn't even bother to attack, simply watching him quietly.

"To be honest, I'm really grateful you guys helped me hold off that idiot, otherwise I wouldn't have had time to prepare this place." Loki looked at Finney with an air of superiority.

He continued his explanation: "I never imagined there was someone as powerful as you on Earth, it's just a pity you made the wrong choice."

"You really think you can trap me like this?"

Finney frowned, looking at the completely sealed-off copper and iron walls around him. Although the portal was unusable, trying to trap him with these was wishful thinking.

"I know your abilities: armor, portals, flight, and powerful fire weapons!"

Loki seemed to have thoroughly researched Finney before saying, "But I advise you not to use that!"

"I've had all the rooms outside this one filled with explosives, and also with some kind of gas I think it's called hydrogen!"

Finney was startled, grabbing Black Widow beside him and immediately using his 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique' to isolate all oxygen in the surrounding area.

This way, even if an explosion occurred, the damage would be reduced.

"Don't worry, as long as you stay here, it won't explode. This room has been specially reinforced; you can't escape."

Loki didn't actually want to kill Finney. He was still planning to use his Mind Control Scepter to bring Finney under his command after conquering Earth, to attack Asgard or deal with Thanos.

Hearing this, Finney already understood that their plan had failed. Loki must have known the moment Thor arrived.

With communication with Nick Fury cut off, Finney didn't know their situation, but he needed to take care of himself first before thinking about others.

Looking at the smug Loki, Finney was speechless. Even with his teleportation portals and 'explosion magic' restricted, he wasn't without ways to escape.

For example, he could use some physical methods!

"Actually, I have a big treasure, do you want to see it!?"

Scanning the room's size, Finney sighed, stepped forward, and stretched out his hand as if to take something.
