Chapter 138 - Chapter 139 First Meeting

When Finney Hellseg received Nick Fury's contact, it was already the afternoon of the next day. During this time, he took Skye to his parents' house and stayed with them.

  "You found Loki so quickly?"

Arriving at the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, Finney asked with some surprise after seeing Nick Fury, but he quickly realized that Loki had been forced to retreat this time and hadn't managed to control Hawkeye Barton or the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Without inside help, the arrogant Loki, who looked down on Earth, probably hadn't thought much about hiding, so it wasn't impossible for S.H.I.E.L.D. to discover him so quickly.

"Yeah, but things are a bit complicated. I've assembled a response team. I'll take you to meet them first!"

  Nick Fury nodded and said.

  "The Avengers!?"

Finney scoffed. A response team? He thought about it carefully, and it seemed that the only Avengers he hadn't met was Thor. Of course, if you really wanted to, Captain America was probably someone he didn't recognize either.

Nick Fury nodded without denying it.

Boarding the Quinjet, Finney carefully examined the aircraft's interior. After being stranded on Vormir, he felt it necessary to learn about spaceships.

Arriving aboard Nick Fury's prized Sky Carrier, Finney saw several familiar figures.

  "Long time no see!"

  Finney greeted the two.

"Where have you been all this time?"

Although he had received the news yesterday, he hadn't confirmed it, so Tony only truly breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Finney appear before him.

"It's a long story. How have you all been?"

While speaking to Tony, Finney also glanced at Banner. After so long, Banner's demeanor had become even more gentle and refined; anyone who saw him at first glance would think he was a good-natured person.

"Aside from him getting angry and wanting to find you, everything else is fine."

Banner shrugged, happy that Finney was back.

In his mind, Finney was the only one who could control the Hulk. In the past six months, he had tried various methods to separate or eliminate the Hulk, but without success.

Instead, he had ruined the relationship that had been painstakingly improved. Plus, with Finney away, he hadn't been having a good time lately.

Noticing the fleeting bitterness in Banner's eyes, Finney seemed thoughtful, but with so many people around, he didn't ask any questions and just nodded.

After greeting his two familiar friends, Finney looked at the man with an older look and a very prominent buttocks not far away.

"Hello, Captain America. Although it doesn't seem like our first meeting, Finney Hellseg, you can call me Finney."

Finney walked up to Captain America, dispelled the 'ghostly possession', and extended his hand. Almost everyone in the room knew his identity, so he didn't bother to hide it anymore.

Captain America was visibly stunned as Finney's armor suddenly vanished as he approached. He then grasped Finney's hand and replied, "Captain America, I know you. Thank you for bringing me back."

  "You're welcome!"

Finney shrugged, replying nonchalantly. He then glanced at Black Widow and Hawkeye, who had been staring at him ever since he was freed from 'Demon Possession,' and said speechlessly,

"I know I'm handsome, but don't you think staring at me like that is going too far?"

Barton immediately turned away, embarrassed. Black Widow, however, raised an eyebrow and walked over, saying, "I didn't expect you to look like this under that armor. Let me introduce you again, Natasha Romanoff, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent!"

"There are many things you didn't expect!"

Finney rolled her eyes, then instructed her, "Remember not to reveal my identity."

At this moment, Barton also walked over and said to Finney, "I introduced myself a few months ago, I don't know if you remember me, Clint Barton, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent."

  "My memory isn't that bad,"

Finney replied, giving Barton the same instruction.

Seeing Finney openly reveal her identity and introduce herself to everyone, Nick Fury was the most surprised. He felt that Finney was accepting him, and also felt that the chances of bringing Finney into the Avengers were greater.

Actually, Finney hadn't thought that much about it. After spending so long on Vormir, he felt a sense of familiarity even with beggars on the street, so he could only say that Nick Fury was overthinking things.

"Alright, now that everyone knows each other, shouldn't we discuss how to deal with Loki and retrieve the Tesseract!"

Seeing that Finney had finished introducing herself, Nick Fury stepped forward and said.

Hearing Nick Fury's words, everyone exchanged glances, but no one spoke first.

On the plane, Nick Fury explained the current situation to him.

Although he hadn't controlled Barton, Loki had somehow managed to capture Eric Selvig. However, without Barton's advice, Loki didn't "walk into the trap" with the scepter as in the original story.

Instead, he used the Mind Scepter to control a small country that Finney had never heard of and began researching the Tesseract.

Finney was quite surprised to hear this, as it might mean that even if Loki opened the portal, New York wouldn't become a battlefield.

However, if he could stop it, Finney certainly didn't want Loki to open the portal.

"Can't we just infiltrate and capture him?"

After a while, he spoke first to Banner, who seemed the most clueless about the battle.

"Dr. Banner, the data indicates that besides controlling people, he also possesses the ability to jump through space," Nick Fury explained, glancing at Finney as he spoke. He could have easily treated Loki as Finney this time.

"So the first operation is crucial. If we alert him, it will be much more difficult to capture him later."

  "Oh!"

Banner obediently shut his mouth. Actually, he didn't want to come at all in the first place. Years of being on the run had given him a deep-seated prejudice against the authorities. If he hadn't been unable to refuse Tony's invitation, he wouldn't have come at all.

However, before they could come up with a suitable plan, Hill's report suddenly came through Nick Fury's earpiece.

"Director, the surrounding weather has suddenly reacted strongly!"

Nick Fury frowned, as if he had thought of something, and looked at Finney directly, asking, "You said before that Thor would come to Earth?"

  "Yes!"

Finney was taken aback, and nodded unconsciously. Thor only had this one brother, so of course he couldn't let him wander outside, even if he didn't know Loki's purpose yet.

  "He may have already arrived!"

Nick Fury said in a deep voice, "We can't let him alert the enemy!"
