Chapter 136 - Chapter 137 A Soul That's One in a Million

  "..."

Finney was speechless, then shook his head and said, "I was teleported to an alien planet. I can't say where it is, but it's very, very far away."

"Also, you'd better find Loki quickly. He has an alien army. If he uses the Tesseract to open the portal, then be prepared for war!"

Hearing Finney's words, not only Nick Fury but even Barton's expression changed. Thinking of Loki's previous words, they couldn't imagine what would happen to Earth if Loki succeeded.

"Why were you teleported to an alien planet, and how did you get back? Why were you with Loki?"

Nick Fury had a lot of doubts in his mind.

"That Tesseract didn't like me, so it tricked me. As for why I came back with Loki, it's because he activated the gem, and I could only go along the way."

Hearing Finney's vague answer, Nick Fury frowned, but he knew that the most important thing now was not to find out about Finney's situation, but to find the Tesseract first.

"Issue a global warrant for Loki. Notify Hill to prepare for maximum operational alert!"

Nick Fury gave Patton several orders. After finishing, he looked at Finney, who was starting to walk out, and couldn't help but ask, "Where are you going?"

  "Home!"

Finney turned around and answered matter-of-factly.

"The situation is so serious, and you're going home?"

  Nick Fury asked incredulously.

"Opening a continuous portal isn't that easy, and it's not too late to contact me after you find him." Finney sighed and continued, "I've been away from Earth for half a year. What's wrong with going home first?"

Nick Fury frowned, thought for a long time, and finally compromised, "Then I'll go gather the manpower first and keep in touch. Is your phone still working?"

  "Okay!"

  Finney nodded.

This made Barton, who hadn't left yet, turn back in surprise. Half a year had passed, and the phone still had power?!

Nick Fury, on the other hand, thought even more deeply, considering that the phone still worked and even suggesting that Finney might have gone to an alien planet with an advanced civilization.

Finney didn't leave the base, but instead found a secluded corner and eagerly used the portal back home.

Looking at everything familiar in the room, Finney felt a pang of nostalgia. Judging from the cleanliness of the house, Skye had been cleaning all this time.

As if hearing his return, hurried footsteps suddenly came from outside the door, then the door opened, and Skye appeared with a look of surprise.

  "Finney!"

Skye rushed over and hugged him tightly.

Sensing Skye's excitement, Finney gently patted her back, comforting her, "I'm back. Didn't the teacher tell you before? I'm fine."

  "Speaking of which..."

Skye released Finney, scolding her angrily, "It's one thing to mess around on Earth, but now you're even going to other planets! Aren't you afraid the universe won't be able to contain you one day?"

"Then I'll just find another universe!"

Finney replied with a smile, then looked at the indignant Skye, gently pinched her cheek, and asked, "Has anything happened during this time?"

  "It's alright."

Skye nodded, then shook her head, continuing, "It's just that I didn't tell Mom and Dad that you were trapped on another planet. I just said you were busy."

  "Mhm!"

Finney nodded, not minding Skye's concealment, after all, letting the two elders know would only increase their worries.

"What exactly did you go to do? Are you really trapped on an alien planet?"

Although the Ancient One told her this news, she still had some doubts. Now that Finney is back, she can finally be sure.

"Well, well, some rock thought I was too handsome, so it wanted its friend to see me too, and then I unfortunately got teleported to an alien planet."

Finney briefly described what happened to Skye.

  "A rock!?"

Skye stared blankly at Finney, asking, "Are even rocks starting to mutate now? How did it see you? Why would you make a rock feel handsome!?"

"A beautiful appearance is a dime a dozen, but an interesting soul is one in a million."

Finney shrugged and sighed, "Maybe my handsomeness has penetrated into my soul, even a rock can sense it."

  "…"

It was supposed to be a touching scene of reunion, but Skye only felt a slight sense of speechlessness. However, seeing that Finney hadn't changed much, she felt a little relieved.

"By the way, pack your things later, why don't you go stay with Mom and Dad for a few days?"

Hearing Finney's words, Skye, who still had a lot of questions to ask, was stunned and couldn't help but ask, "Why?"

"New York isn't safe these days, it's better if you don't stay here."

Although she firmly believed that the Battle of New York would not be lost, Finney still felt that there was no need for Skye to stay.

  "Not safe?"

Skye looked at Finney in confusion.

"There might be an alien army invading!" Finney hesitated for a moment, but still told the truth. After all, once such a thing was confirmed, it couldn't be hidden no matter what, so it was better to let Skye prepare in advance.

Hearing that things were starting to develop in the direction of interstellar war, Skye was stunned. Fortunately, her resilience had increased over the years, so she wasn't completely unable to accept it.

  "Is it because of you?"

Skye's face was filled with worry again. It was no wonder she thought that way. Finney had just returned from an alien planet, and the next thing she knew, she was being told that aliens were going to invade. Anyone would connect the two things.

"No, it has nothing to do with me."

Finney shook his head. He was trapped on Vormir, while Loki had brought the Chitauri, Thanos's minions—they were completely unrelated.

"Then are you leaving with us?"

Skye looked at Finney, though it was a question, she felt she already knew the answer.

  "I'm staying to help."

Finney's answer didn't surprise Skye, so she said, "Then I'll stay too!"

Seeing Finney frown and want to refuse, she quickly continued, "My abilities have improved a lot recently, I can definitely be of some help."

  "No!"

  But Finney still firmly disagreed.

To be honest, Finney had no doubt that Skye could help. As long as she was given a safe position to deal damage, she could probably dismantle the Chitauri mothership.

But whether she could help or not was another question.

With Skye's defense, she might be left with only a few bullets or be instantly killed. He didn't trust someone else to protect her, and if he went to protect her himself, it would be better not to let Skye participate at all.

  "Why?"

  Skye asked angrily.

Finney didn't want to say that her defenses were too weak and that getting involved would be too much of a burden, but she couldn't find any other good reason, so she could only stare intently at her and say, "I don't want you to get hurt!"
