Two months had passed since he arrived in Kamar-Taj, and Skye called to inform Finney that school was starting.
Before coming to Kamar-Taj, he had applied to Columbia University in New York and, unsurprisingly, was accepted thanks to his excellent grades. Now it was time to register at the university.
Moreover, after being away from home for two whole months, his parents were worried sick. If it weren't for their daily contact and Skye's help, he would have gone back long ago.
The pace of life in Kamar-Taj made Finney reluctant to leave, and more importantly, he couldn't bear to part with his "experience babies." The experience he gained in one month here was equivalent to a whole year of his previous accumulation.
Finney began to consider taking a year off to focus on studying magic here.
But unexpectedly, when he told the Ancient One about this idea, he was rejected without hesitation.
"Finney, don't forget what I said. Don't let power control you. You should have your own life. Go back. Kamar-Taj will always welcome you back."
Finney lowered his head in thought, suddenly realizing that the Ancient One was right. He had become somewhat obsessed with gaining experience lately. If he ever discovered a more effective way to increase experience, would he do anything to achieve it? Finney let out a soft breath. The dangerous pressure made him eager to improve his strength, but he couldn't ignore the people around him.
After figuring this out, Finney suddenly felt much lighter. If expressed in terms of data, it would be like his mental strength increased by 1. Of course, it still wouldn't be enough to open a portal.
Just how monstrous is Doctor Strange's magical talent?!
"Thank you, Master!"
After thanking the Ancient One, Finney decided to go back to school. But this didn't mean he would give up on gaining experience. Anyway, with the New York Sanctum as a transit point, Kamar-Taj shouldn't be too difficult.
Besides, there was a time difference; when he arrived at Kamar-Taj at night, it would be morning there.
Most of the Kamar-Taj sorcerers were reluctant to see Finney leave, because they couldn't bear to part with the delicious Violet Chicken Wraps, including Mordo, who had spent the most time with him.
"By the way, where did you learn this spell?"
Mordo asked with mixed feelings as Finney skillfully summoned a Violet Chicken Wrap and handed it to him. This young junior brother, not particularly talented but favored by his master, always exuded an air of mystery.
"It's innate magic, you know? It's that kind of skill you're born with, exclusive, no one else can learn it. I'm not bragging, even the Ancient One couldn't learn it."
Actually, more than one person had asked about the Violet Chicken Wrap. If it was about how to make it with the ingredients, he was happy to teach, but how to use the skill like he did was something he couldn't teach.
Unlike Possession, which had a physical form, the Violet Chicken Wrap was purely illogical. Although he had initially thought it was useless, it was now key to his interpersonal relationships.
In the past two months, who in Kamar-Taj hadn't eaten Finney's special 'Violet Chicken Wraps'? Even many of the temple's guardians would come back every day specifically to ask for a few to take away; they felt uncomfortable if they didn't eat them for a day. They
were practically becoming the Kamar-Taj mages' masters.
"I'm leaving now, senior brother. Although I might be back soon, you can find me in New York if you need anything."
In the courtyard, Finney said goodbye to Mordo. Because he couldn't open a portal himself, he could only ask someone else to open one for him, or use the portal in the library.
"Goodbye, don't neglect your cultivation."
Although they had only spent two months together, Mordo felt a little reluctant to part with Finney as he prepared to leave.
Perhaps it was because his arrival had brought a different atmosphere to the peaceful and serene holy land! Watching Finney's smiling, waving, and disappearing figure, Mordo thought to himself
...
Although nominally he went on vacation, Finney actually returned without taking anything with him.
He'd probably be going back to Kamar-Taj in a few days, so he didn't have much to bring. Skye had already taken a bunch of things from the surrounding towns as gifts, and he didn't want to buy so much useless stuff. Therefore, when Finney returned home alone, his parents were quite surprised. If it weren't for the fact that he had indeed disappeared for two months, and his skin and body had clearly become tanned and stronger, they would have thought he had just gone for a walk.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back!"
Although she was a little awkward about Finney's appearance, his mother still came over immediately, both concerned and complaining, "Did anything happen to you while you were out? Why didn't you come back with your sister? You've gotten so tanned."
Finney chuckled a few times, not arguing with his parents. Afterwards, the family happily ate dinner, and just as they were about to go to rest, Skye pulled him into her room.
"So, did you learn anything after I left?" Skye asked eagerly as soon as they entered the room. Although she could see other mages casting spells in Kamar-Taj, they had all practiced for years, which was far less interesting than Finney, with whom she had learned and grown.
Finney didn't speak, but simply conjured his shimmering Ring of Raghadore in his right hand.
"You succeeded!?"
Skye's feelings were complicated, a mixture of natural joy and disappointment at her inability to learn the skill.
Noticing Skye's expression, Finney dispelled his spell, tapped her head with his finger, and comforted her, "Alright, you're still a long way from mastering it. I don't have the talent; I'll probably only master a couple of spells in my lifetime."
"You don't have enough talent?" Skye was even more frustrated. Did that mean she had absolutely no talent?!
"Not nearly enough!"
Finney thought of Doctor Strange again; that guy's talent was truly exceptional. If it weren't for his breakthrough in mental power, he wouldn't have been able to condense the Ring of Raghadore.
For a moment, both of them in the room were in low spirits.
However, Finney quickly recovered. He still had the system; he wouldn't need to obsessively pursue the path of a mage in the future, and right now, simply with 'Possessed by Evil Spirits,' he was already stronger than most mages.
Seeing Skye's disappointed expression, Finney thought for a moment and then reminded her, "Actually, don't be too disappointed. Master once told me that you might have other powers within you, but you just haven't developed them yet."
Of course, the Ancient One hadn't said that, but Master used it as an excuse, just like the previous "Possessed by Evil Spirits." After it was said that the Ancient One had given it to them, apart from the envious Mordo, how many people dared to ask the Ancient One for confirmation?
"Really?"
Skye looked up in surprise, then grabbed Finney's arm and asked, "What kind of power is it? How do I develop it?"
"The time isn't right yet." Finney shook her head, not saying much, but after thinking for a moment, she added, "Maybe it's related to vibrations?"
"Hmm!?"
This wasn't the first time Finney had mentioned vibration abilities; she had mentioned it several times before, but Skye hadn't paid much attention to it until now.
"Why would it be vibrations?!"
Skye asked, completely puzzled.
"How should I know?" Finney rolled his eyes, secretly thinking, "You should ask your alien genes."
"Anyway, you can study this kind of knowledge when you have free time; you might need it later." After giving these final instructions, Finney returned to his room to rest.
