October 30, 2023 - Ballon d'Or Nominees

The 30-man shortlist was announced. The favorites:

Ethan Loki - Champions League winner, 61 goals, La Liga champion Erling Haaland - 52 goals, but Champions League runners-up Kylian Mbappé - 52 goals, Ligue 1 champion, but no Champions League Lionel Messi - World Cup winner, but quiet club season Kevin De Bruyne - Champions League runners-up, brilliant season

Ethan was the overwhelming favorite. But the vote was never guaranteed.

November 27, 2023 - Ballon d'Or Ceremony - Paris

Ethan arrived at the Théâtre du Châtelet with Sofia. Photographers went crazy. The defending champion. The favorite to win again.

Inside, football's elite gathered. Messi. Ronaldo (now 38, still playing). Mbappé. Haaland. Legends and current stars.

"Nervous?" Sofia asked.

"A little. But I think I've done enough."

The ceremony began. Awards for best young player. Best goalkeeper. Best striker (Ethan won this).

Then the main event.

"And now, the 2023 Ballon d'Or..."

The rankings were announced in reverse order:

10th: Rodri 9th: İlkay Gündoğan

8th: Vinícius Júnior 7th: Jude Bellingham 6th: Lionel Messi 5th: Kevin De Bruyne

Top four. Ethan, Mbappé, Haaland, and one surprise name.

4th: Kylian Mbappé

Three left. Ethan, Haaland, and the mystery fourth.

"In third place... Bernardo Silva."

Two left. Ethan and Haaland.

The cameras focused on both of them. The two best strikers in the world.

"And the 2023 Ballon d'Or goes to..."

A pause that felt eternal.

"ETHAN LOKI!"

Explosion of noise. Ethan stood, hands to his face in shock—even though he'd expected it.

Sofia grabbed him, crying. His Barcelona teammates at the table erupted. Mbappé gave him a huge hug.

"Back-to-back! You're a legend!"

On stage, Ethan held his second Ballon d'Or. Two at twenty-four years old. Only Messi (2009, 2010) had won back-to-back Ballons d'Or so young.

"Thank you," Ethan addressed the crowd. "This is incredible. Winning it once was a dream. Winning it twice is... I don't have words."

"Thank you to Barcelona

—my teammates, my coach, the fans. We brought the Champions League home together. This trophy belongs to all of us."

"To Monaco—where I learned to be a champion. I'll never forget where I came from."

"To France—my country. We'll win the World Cup in 2026. I promise you that."

"And to everyone watching—I'm twenty-four years old. I'm hungry. This is number two. I want five. I want to be remembered as one of the greatest ever."

He raised both Ballons d'Or—the 2021 and 2023 trophies side by side.

The football world was watching. Ethan Loki, at twenty-four, had two Ballons d'Or. Three Champions Leagues. One World Cup. Three La Liga titles.

He was building a legacy that would last forever.
