Chapter 43 - The Transmigration Mechanism and Three New Worlds — The Shop’s Discount Section Refreshes

"The system update is finished?"

Hearing the notification in his ear, An Xora exchanged a glance with Makima beside him, but neither of them chose to check it immediately.

After all, there were too many people around at the moment. Whatever new functions the system had unlocked would be better examined once they got back.

And so, An Xora and Makima continued strolling through the mall. During this time, aside from shopping for herself, Makima also picked out several outfits for An Xora.

When it came to fashion, An Xora's taste was obviously no match for Makima's. He simply accepted everything, watching as Makima swiped her card under the astonished gaze of the sales clerks, successfully earning a wave of envy, jealousy, and hatred from passing male compatriots.

After finishing their shopping, An Xora and Makima ate lunch together, then visited several famous spots around Tokyo. Whenever they saw something they liked, they bought it on the spot—every single expense paid by Makima.

For Makima, who now controlled nearly the entire upper echelon of the jujutsu world, money was nothing more than a string of numbers.

After all, even in the original story, a single one of the Three Great Families—the Zen'in clan—was said to have five hundred million in liquid funds here, a billion there. The clan head could casually pull out ten billion yen without even blinking. Compared to that, the resources Makima could mobilize after subjugating the jujutsu world's leadership were only greater.

...

In the evening, after seeing An Xora back to the villa, Makima bid him farewell and returned to the Headquarters together with Miwa Kasumi and Nishimiya Momo.

Finally home, An Xora opened the system interface to check out the new features introduced by the update.

The moment he did, the first thing that appeared before him was an update announcement.

[System Version 2.0 Update Announcement]Adjusted point acquisition rates.

Points gained from daily "living off others" behavior have been increased. A new multiplier mechanism has been added: when engaging in "living off others" behavior with female characters of higher overall ratings, the point rewards will be further increased based on that character's rating.New World Transmigration Function added.

Each time the host accumulates a certain amount of points, one opportunity to open a new world will be granted. After opening a new world, the host and all avatars may freely travel between different worlds.New Revival Mechanism added.

When an avatar dies, the host may revive them after 24 hours. When the host dies, a surviving avatar may revive the host after 24 hours.

Reading through the announcement, An Xora rubbed his chin.

First was the multiplier system—daily "freeloading" now granted more points, and doing so with higher-rated female characters would provide additional bonuses.

"System, how exactly is this rating calculated?"

"Ding! Female character ratings are calculated based on multiple factors such as appearance, strength, authority, wealth, and status. The more outstanding a character is in these aspects, the higher their rating."

"And if a female character starts out with a low rating, but later gains more strength, authority, wealth, or status—will her rating increase?"

"Ding! Ratings are updated in real time based on the character's current condition."

"Got it."

After hearing the explanation, An Xora nodded and moved on.

The revival mechanism didn't need much discussion. It was probably the system adding insurance because he was lying flat so hard—quite thoughtful, really.

What An Xora cared about most right now was the world transmigration function.

Exiting the update announcement, he immediately noticed that among the system's many function tabs, a brand-new interface labeled Worlds had appeared.

Clicking into it, a map-like page unfolded before his eyes—set against an infinite void, somewhat reminiscent of certain war-crime-tier strategy games he'd played in his previous life.

At the moment, the entire map had only a single green dot lit up, marking An Xora's current location. Beside it was the label:

[Jujutsu Kaisen] World

Beyond that, the entire screen was pitch-black. Only in the top-right corner was an option labeled Open New World, showing 1 available use. Next to it was a progress bar displaying 500,000 points, currently at zero.

"So accumulating another five hundred thousand points will grant one opportunity to open a new world?"

Looking at the simple interface, An Xora immediately understood its meaning.

The single available use—was it a free bonus given after the update, or a reward for previously accumulating over one hundred thousand points?

If it was the former, then opening a new world would always cost five hundred thousand points.

If it was the latter, then it meant that the required cumulative points for each subsequent world would likely increase exponentially.

"Thinking about that now won't help. Five hundred thousand points will probably take me quite a while to save up anyway. For now, let's just open one new world and see."

Clicking the Open New World option in the top-right corner, three new glowing points appeared on the system map not far from the Jujutsu Kaisen world.

Clearly, these three points represented three new worlds.

Tapping them, the information for each world appeared before An Xora.

The three new worlds were:

[Arknights][One Punch Man][Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?]

"So it's these three worlds…"

Looking at the three glowing points, An Xora fell into thought.

Compared to Jujutsu Kaisen, a world with relatively low and clearly defined power ceilings, these three worlds were undeniably far deeper waters.

Among them, Arknights was a gacha game An Xora had played in his previous life—a story about an organization called Rhodes Island struggling to save a land named Terra, which was basically a super-sized dumpster fire.

On the surface, the overall power level didn't seem too high—stronger than the jujutsu world, but not absurdly so. Of course, that was only on the surface.

In the background lurked countless apocalyptic threats: Originium, the Seaborn, the Demons, the Lumberjack—each one terrifying in its own way.

As for One Punch Man, there was no need to elaborate. The final boss of every arc was basically planet-busting, plus there was a godlike being of unknown—but certainly immense—power. Fortunately, Saitama existed, so actual world-ending disasters weren't really a concern.

Finally, DanMachi was the shallowest of the three in terms of danger. Although the gods there were all powerful in their own ways, everything was out in the open—at least it gave some peace of mind.

To be honest, An Xora didn't particularly want to go to any of these worlds right now. Visiting them casually for fun would be fine, but if he were to seriously develop long-term in any of them, none seemed ideal.

"I'll just stay in the Jujutsu world for now. As for new worlds, I'll think about that after I've completely cleared things here."

"Oh right—at this time, the system shop should have refreshed as well. Let's see if the discount section has anything good this time."
