Chapter 10 - Arc 1: Kamiya Tomiyama. Chpater 9: Nuzres is eager to learn about love.

Kamiya turned to Nuzres who was pouting and staring at him, the wolf love people gave them a cave to live in and said they could stay as long as they wanted to with the only requirements being helping them to hunt wild animals for food.

"Why are you upset?." Kamiya asked passively.

Nuzres let our a small hmph and didn't answer him, he sighed and laid down on the bear skin mat on the floor. He simply could not bother to try and figure out a girls heart even if they were a strange cancerous piece of divine flesh.

But then again Nuzres herself was the literal heart of the Court King....Kamiya did not think about such things anymore, he was too busy trying to comprehend the previous events.

When he made the deal to help hatch the spirit queen, a bizarre angel immediately descended and crashed onto them, when they were about to lose, Nuzres summoned a larger angel and killed the small one.

After that another angel appeared and injured the bigger angel, making it bleed and expelled from this world.

What he got from that situation was, Angel are terrifying creatures, the fallen deities are petty and Nuzres is upset with him, he didn't know why that one mattered but it did.

And her piercing gaze wasn't really doing anything to solve the situation so he reached out his arm and grabbed hers. "Is this why you were upset, cause I let go of your arm?."

Nuzres clenched her arm, squeezing his and finally spoke. "It's because of a flaw and the easiest way to show it is to hold your arm, it's because I accidentally absorbed some of your essence while you were holding my arm."

That made total sense only the fact that it actually didn't but the world was bizarre and who was he to try and question it. Oh wait, he was a candidate for a Divine King. "What's the flaw about?."

"Letting you , that's the flaw." Nuzres said with a small smiled.

"...." Kamiya stared at her strangely, he was somewhat blocked from actually hearing the third word. "What did you say?."

Nuzres frowned but still said it again. "I said that i can't let you be ."

Yeah Kamiya gave up. "Something is stopping you from telling me what your flaw is."

Nuzres ceased her brows, her hand tightened over his. "That shouldn't make sense, it's just it's not like it's forbidden knowledge or something."

Kamiya frowned, he slowly looked up, he felt like there was something strange watching him and since he didn't see anything he just assumed it was Nuzres. "Anyways, what those your flaw have to do with holding my arm again?."

Kamiya's eyes met Nuzres', her grip still firm on his arm, her expression unreadable. The warmth of her touch was almost comforting, but the tension in the air was undeniable.

Nuzres tilted her head slightly, her smile faint but tinged with seriousness. "It's connected to you, in a way. When I absorbed a part of your essence…" she paused, searching for words, "it tied me to you in a way that I can't fully sever. That tie… defines this flaw. It restricts me from letting you be —from letting you go, from letting you be harmed… or perhaps from letting you become something I can't follow."

Kamiya frowned, trying to parse the abstract words, though the gears in his mind felt like they were grinding against reality itself. "So… you're saying it's my fault?"

Nuzres shook her head.

"No, not fault. It's… consequence. Fate." She squeezed his arm again, the motion gentle now, almost protective. "The more of you I carry inside me, the more I exist as something that must be tethered to you. And because of that… I can't let you Not entirely."

Kamiya exhaled slowly, rubbing his temple. This world, Nuzres, the angels, the spirit queen—he barely understood any of it, but one thing was clear: Nuzres' bond with him wasn't casual. It was existential.

"So, basically… you're my bodyguard, my conscience, and my leash?" he said dryly.

Nuzres tilted her head again, a flicker of amusement in her jade eyes. "You could say that. But unlike a leash, it's… consensual. Or at least, partially."

Kamiya rubbed his face, leaning back against the bear skin mat. "Great. So I'm trapped in a cosmic buddy system with a divine cancer. Fantastic."

"Cancer has feelings," Nuzres said, pouting slightly, though the edges of her lips betrayed a teasing curve. "And apparently… attachments too."

Kamiya groaned, letting the weight of the day press down on him. "Attachments, huh? So now I have to carry around guilt on top of surviving angels, divine kings, walking kingdoms, and… whatever else this world throws at me?"

Nuzres tilted her head, the faint amusement still in her eyes. "If you survive, yes. But surviving is more… fun with me."

Kamiya blinked. "Fun?"

"Mm," Nuzres said, leaning closer so her face was barely an inch from his. "Fun in the sense that you can't ignore me, can't escape me… and I'll be there when things go wrong."

//Damn, I am sensing major Yandere energy from her, what kind of flaw does she have? Not the question i should clearly be asking is what exactly is a flaw// Health wasn't really worried about her strange behaviour or her sudden personality change but he did feel a bit reassured, who knows maybe he won't be abandoned or betrayed in this world.

As the saying goes, better to trust a stranger you know nothing about than someone who you trust...well for Kamiya that is, his life was filled with betrayal and abandonment to the point it could have driven one crazy, the reason he even has the name Tokiyama was because the last name he had been given when he was shuffled from orphanage to orphanage, always a stranger, always replaceable.

His life had taught him that trust was a liability, attachment a trap. And yet… here he was, with Nuzres, a being who was part divine, part parasite, and wholly impossible to ignore.

He let out a slow breath, leaning back against the mat and letting the tension in his shoulders ease slightly. "You know… I should probably hate you," he muttered. "But I… don't."

Nuzres' lips curved into a faint, almost smug smile. "Good. I'd be insulted if you did."

Kamiya groaned, rubbing his eyes. "I don't even know what kind of insult that is."

"You'll learn," Nuzres said softly, releasing his arm and standing up. Her movements were smooth, almost predatory, but her presence radiated warmth despite the underlying menace. "For now, we should eat. You look like you haven't properly digested anything in hours. And there's still tomorrow."

"Do we even have anything to eat." Kamiya said with a groan.

Nuzres smirked and the dust in her satchel came out until it turned into a pot. "I am a Hoarder Kamiya so I have lots of things to eat, I'll cook for us."

Nuzres knelt beside the small fire pit carved into the cave floor, snapping her fingers once. A faint sigil flared, and dry kindling ignited without smoke. The pot settled above the flame as ingredients began to float out of her satchel one by one—dried roots, pale mushrooms, strips of something that looked suspiciously like crystalized meat, and a handful of glowing leaves.

Kamiya watched it all with half-lidded eyes. "You know… every time you pull something out of that thing, I'm reminded that you're terrifying."

Nuzres hummed, clearly pleased. "That's not an insult."

"I wasn't trying to insult you," he muttered. "I'm stating a fact."

She glanced over her shoulder. "Good. Facts are harder to deny."

The soup began to simmer, releasing a strange but comforting aroma—earthy, warm, faintly sweet. Kamiya didn't realize how hungry he was until his stomach betrayed him with a low growl.

"…Traitor," he whispered to himself.

Nuzres smiled wider.

They ate in relative silence. The soup was thick, nourishing in a way that felt deeper than food, like it was patching something frayed inside him. His headache dulled. The constant pressure behind his eyes—ever since the angel's descent—eased just a little.

For the first time since waking in this world, Kamiya felt… grounded.

But he was not going to get comfortable, not after realising that when peace was ahead there must always be disorder to entice it but he would also take his time, it seemed he had to now consider the feelings of someone else.

Kamiya was not cruel so he wouldn't outright reject someone who wishes to be his friend or even girlfriend but he would be cautious, not because he fears being heart broken, no it was because he feared being abandoned even though he doesn't say it.

After they were done, Nuzres dissolved the leftovers and also the pot into dust that flowed into her satchel, after doing that she stared at Kamiya with a smile on her face.

"What?." Kamiya asked as his eyes averted from hers.Q

"Nothing just looking at you." She spoke honestly.

His eyes turned to look at her. "But why?."

Nuzres began to fiddle with her fingers, looking at the ground just slightly. "I want to touch you."

Kamiya's lips twitched, she was quite blunt with that wasn't she. "You want to hold my hand again?."

Nuzres flinched and thought for a moment, though holding his arm was nice but the prospect of holding him in far more places than that made her feel something stirring in her chest, she hesitated for a moment. "Can i sit by your side?."

"Why are you asking for my permission? You didn't do that this morning." Honestly this entire day was quite literally a cosmic soup of confusion.

Nuzres pouted but smiled upon realising he didn't disagree, she stood up and walked towards his side, she lingered for a moment before sitting down and turned to look at him with a gentle smile.

Kamiya tilted his head, he wasn't exactly impressed by her Evolution but he had to say she was pretty cute, too bad he wasn't really all that interested in her, she was a great help to him and he was grateful for that but he would never get attracted to her.

Unless some unspeakable force tries to, he really won't.

In fact even if an Unspeakable force did make him attracted to her, he would resist?!!.

But...he should calm down, he no longer believed in love but that didn't mean he no longer believed in Morality or fondness, Nuzres has helped him a total of three times and now he has to repay her three times so for this moment, he will care for the last time...

He raised his arm and gently placed it on her head, Nuzres blinked at the sudden touch but leaned in and closed her eyes with a sound of comfort escaping her lips.

Kamiya patted her head while looking at where the flame died, he wondered what exactly his purpose worse not the one this world gave him, aside claiming him throne and increasing his strength, he had no personal ambition.

Kamiya wondered, what does he want?. What does he aspire to be? And what exactly was he supposed to do to claim it?.

As his palm spread out and massaged the scalp of Nuzres, that simple but complex question began to take root deep within not just his heart but his very being.

What exactly was Kamiya's own Purpose?.

"Kamiya~." Nuzres soft and small voice said his name shyly. "Can you go slower and you're pressing your hand too hard in my head...."

Upon realising that, Kamiya hurriedly relaxed his arm and apologised with a small smile. "Sorry, I was just thinking about something."
