Emma Brandich clutched her notebook like a talisman, her eyes darting across the sky that shifted colors every second. From deep blue to fiery pink, then glowing orange, as if the sun were playing hide-and-seek with an invisible rainbow.
"Richard…," she whispered, voice trembling. "This… this isn't scientific. Nothing I know can explain this sky!"
Richard, hands behind his head, gazed at the horizon in awe.
"Exactly, Emma! Science hasn't proven everything. This world is far beyond what we can measure. Look at these floating hills… look at the river of light weaving between the trees!"
Emma shook her head, eyes wide.
"No, no, no! There must be a rational explanation. There has to be… a mechanism, a natural phenomenon, an optical illusion!"
Richard laughed aloud.
"An illusion? Emma… you're adorable. This isn't an illusion. It's real. We're actually here."
A gentle breeze lifted her hair, and Emma fumbled with her notebook to keep it from flying away.
"I refuse… I refuse to believe this! Everything must have a logic, a rule, an equation to solve!"
Richard approached, amused by her panicked expression.
"What if… for once, you just let your mind breathe? Look around you. The colors, the sky, the creatures… this world doesn't follow the rules you know. And that's what's fascinating."
Emma shivered, curling up slightly.
"Fascinating? It's terrifying! The laws of physics don't make sense. Anything can happen at any moment!"
Richard grinned.
"Exactly. And every choice we make… changes the world around us. Logic alone won't suffice, Emma. We have to act… and sometimes… improvise."
A streak of lightning crossed the sky, instantly transforming a hill into a cluster of sparkling crystals. Emma screamed, stumbling back a few steps.
"No! No! This isn't scientific!"
Richard, joyful, raised his arms as if to embrace the spectacle.
"See what I mean? Science can explain a lot… but not this!"
Emma, hands on her head, nearly shouted:
"RICHARD!"
But Richard, laughing, wasn't listening. The world around them continued to reshape itself, defying every natural law Emma had ever known.
And so began their true education in this strange world: every step, every reaction, every decision had immediate, unpredictable consequences… and often hilarious ones.
