Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: So-Called Freedom is Flying Whenever You Wish

The moon was hung in place, troubles switched off.

Learning to tell the world goodnight.

Moonlight flowed like water, quietly streaming through Vya's dreams.

"Hello, sisters~"

Vya cheerfully greeted the two young girls before her.

One had short, blue-green hair, the other long, purple hair. Both sat on a bench.

It seemed new guests had indeed taken up residence here.

The purple-haired girl spoke slowly. "Hello, Vya."

"Mhm, hello."

The tone of the blue-green haired girl wasn't very pleasant, though it was unclear why…

Vya tilted her head, looking curiously at the blue-green haired girl. "When did you appear here, sister?"

The girl shrugged. "I don't know either. As soon as I arrived here, that man started explaining things to me…"

"Does sister remember her own name?"

"Of course I remember. I'm Wendy."

The girl replied.

"Oh, so it's Sister Wendy."

Vya nodded obediently, then shifted her gaze to the purple-haired girl.

Those orange-golden eyes were beautiful, yet lacked spark, as if looking right through Vya to somewhere far away.

"What about the purple-haired sister? Have you remembered?"

Vya asked tentatively.

Wendy found this strange. When she'd been chatting with the purple-haired girl earlier, she'd already learned her name…

She asked, somewhat puzzled, "Isn't her name Sirin?"

"Mhm… I only remembered recently."

Sirin explained slowly, her voice so soft it was almost inaudible.

Vya clapped her hands happily. "Oh, Sister Sirin! I'll remember that."

...

"So why are we in a place like this?"

But there was no answer to that question.

"Well, putting the two of us together now makes sense. We're two of a kind, after all—both 'cripples' in our own way."

"Mhm."

Sirin gave a slight nod, her expression still placid.

"..."

Vya watched the two curiously, unsure what to say.

In her perception, Wendy radiated a blue-green light, while Sirin glowed with a faint purple. The two colors intertwined, creating a peculiar harmony.

...

"So, does Sister Wendy have anything she wants to say?"

Vya broke the silence, looking expectantly at Wendy.

"Say about what?"

Wendy was baffled.

"What all the brothers and sisters here say to Vya!"

"Sirin? There's such a tradition?"

"Just some words of blessing and encouragement. It's simple enough…"

Sirin said plainly.

"Alright, it's Vya, right!"

Wendy bent down, placing her hands on Vya's shoulders, her expression suddenly turning serious.

"Yes!"

Vya straightened her posture, eyes sparkling.

"How to put it? You have a healthy body and a promising future. So you should go and do what you truly want to do."

"But Vya hasn't found what she wants to do yet…"

Vya's little face fell.

"That's not a problem."

"You should be like a bird that can fly whenever it wishes. Try flying a bit higher, and maybe you'll find it."

"Mhm, mhm! Vya will remember!"

Vya nodded with a smile.

The true meaning of so-called 'freedom' is actually quite simple—nothing more than being able to fly when you wish, to leave when you want.

When Vya emerged from the unknown space, she found herself still in freefall…

A sense of helplessness instantly blossomed in her little heart.

'If only Vya could fly…'

The moment this thought flashed through her mind, something marvelous happened—the wind around her suddenly grew gentle, as if heeding her call.

Vya felt a lightness on her back. A pair of transparent wings, woven from flowing air, slowly unfurled, shimmering faintly in the moonlight.

The air currents moved, tenderly cradling her body, bringing her descent to an abrupt halt.

"Wow, Vya can fly~!"

Vya cried out in delight, trying to flap the wind-wings. Clumsy at first, she quickly grasped the knack.

She steered her wings through the sky. The moon above seemed particularly bright at this moment.

Vya couldn't wait to share this good news with Sister Elysia—children always love to show off their new skills.

Vya looked around. A pink glow was right behind her, like an eternal lamp in the dark night.

That must be the direction Sister Elysia was in.

But just as she prepared to fly towards it, a glimmer of light below caught her attention.

Curiosity drove Vya to descend.

Oh, it's fiery red, quite like Sister Himeko.

Though, this light was like burning flames.

Yay, a smooth landing!

Vya mentally gave a 'victory' sign.

Then she looked towards the source of the light. It seemed to be a platform, but the surroundings were pitch black and hard to make out. Only the flickering light of the flames was visible.

Vya ran up slowly, eager to see who it was.

At the top was a large pillar with strange patterns drawn on it.

And the figure radiating fiery light was leaning against the base of the stone pillar.

Vya continued to approach. Now she could see the person clearly.

It turned out to be a big brother with white hair. If you just looked at his build and hair color… he was somewhat like Brother Kevin.

Looking more carefully, that brother also had something tied around him. Oh dear, had he been imprisoned here by bad people?

Vya hurried forward.

As she drew near, the man who had been keeping his eyes closed suddenly opened them.

They were a pair of gray, indifferent eyes. A flicker of surprise passed through them at the sight of the porcelain-doll-like child before him, before returning to coldness.

He said nothing, closing his eyes again.

"Brother, do you need help?"

Vya asked curiously.

"Stay away from me, kid."

The white-haired man issued an impolite dismissal, but Vya paid no mind.

"Brother seems like a very good person. You must have met some bad people, right?"

Vya chattered on, her small hand already reaching for the chains.

"..."

The man didn't answer. Might as well take that as silent agreement.

"Sister said to help good people more! Vya will help you now!"

With that, Vya grabbed the iron chain and gave it a light tug with her small hand—surprisingly, the seemingly sturdy chain snapped with a clear sound!

"There, brother, it's okay now!"

Vya clapped happily, anticipating the man's gratitude.

Yet, contrary to expectations, the white-haired man only gave her a cold look.

Then he did something Vya didn't expect—he picked up the broken chain, pressed it lightly, gave it a twist, and the chain actually reconnected, restored to its original state!

"Leave this place…"

The man closed his eyes again, his voice cold.

Vya stood in place, blinking in confusion.

"Brother doesn't want to leave here?"

"..."

"Okay, Vya misunderstood. But why is brother alone here? Doesn't it get boring?"

"No."

"Alright. Vya has to go back to find sister now. Goodbye, brother."

"Don't worry, Vya will come see you when she has time."

After Vya left…

The man opened his eyes again. Somehow, he seemed to feel a faint anticipation of seeing that little girl again…
