Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Spirit Lottery System

Chapter 3: Spirit Lottery System

[Mission: During the second stage of the Chūnin Exams, protect Uchiha Sasuke and prevent him from being bitten by Orochimaru.

After the mission is complete, quickly withdraw from Konoha.

Mission requirements: None]

"O… Orochimaru!?"

Karin's whole body trembled.

She knew exactly who Orochimaru was.

One of the legendary Sannin!

"I… I'm just an ordinary genin…

How could I possibly fight against one of the Sannin!?"

"Have some confidence."

Byakuya seemed to see through Karin's thoughts.

He gave her an indifferent glance, then spoke slowly:

"You're a core member of the organization now.

And your strength has already increased tremendously.

Go back and practice the Phoenix King Mode properly.

Forget just protecting someone in front of Orochimaru—

you could even beat him to a pulp on the spot without breaking a sweat.

Now go."

"I…"

Karin looked at Byakuya's face and caught the pleasant scent of his chakra.

She almost wanted to act spoiled for a moment.

But when she saw that cold, detached expression,

she reluctantly turned and left the bookstore.

"Reviving Rin really was the right move!

This wave…

total profit!"

Watching Karin's retreating back,

a smile finally appeared on Byakuya's face.

He wasn't actually from this world.

Eight years ago, on a certain day, he had transmigrated into the Naruto world.

At first, he had been panicked and terrified.

Because he understood very well:

in the Naruto world, without a kekkei genkai, without a clan, without secret techniques, and with both parents already dead in sacrifice—

he was nothing more than cannon fodder.

But after awakening the "Spirit Lottery System,"

he finally found hope in life again.

The "Spirit Lottery System," as the name suggested,

was a system that allowed him to spend plot points to draw prizes.

The rewards fell into four categories: Pokémon spirit cards, special rewards, daily necessities, and abilities from the Naruto world.

Special rewards were… well, special.

So far he had received two:

one was a 10% luck buff!

The other was the "Spirit Pavilion" organization system.

With this special organization system, he could easily build and manage the group—

creating communication rings, organization uniforms, and so on.

Things like signing contracts, instantly crushing the soul of anyone who signed…

all of that was made possible by this system.

Spirit cards were the kind he had used on Karin.

They could instantly turn someone into a jinchūriki,

causing their strength to explode upward.

Higher-grade cards also came with additional skills: increased total chakra, improved chakra control, boosted physical strength, and more.

Diamond-grade spirit cards could even personally guide the jinchūriki in ninjutsu training!

They were by far the most common and useful prize.

Daily necessities were basically the "thanks for participating" consolation prizes.

As for the plot points required for the lottery—

they could only be obtained by changing the story of the world.

Although Byakuya's actual combat strength was quite mediocre,

over these eight years he had still accomplished quite a lot.

For example:

He had saved Hyūga Hinata, and with his handsome appearance, successfully made her fall for him.

Changing the plot earned him 100,000 plot points from Hinata alone.

And another 1,000,000 plot points from Uzumaki Naruto.

Another example:

He studied hard.

Combined with lottery rewards that boosted his chakra reserves, chakra control, and some basic ninjutsu,

he steadily outperformed Uchiha Sasuke,

becoming the undisputed top student of the Academy.

Add in his handsome looks and aloof demeanor,

and suddenly he had captured the hearts of quite a few girls.

Haruno Sakura gave him 500,000 plot points.

Yamanaka Ino contributed 10,000.

And after becoming number one and winning Sakura's affection,

it triggered a chain reaction:

another 100,000 from Uzumaki Naruto,

and a whopping 1,000,000 from Uchiha Sasuke.

Of course, killing or screwing over major characters could also net huge amounts of plot points…

but that would cut off his ability to farm plot points long-term.

Besides, major characters were all blessed with great destiny—he might not even be able to kill them.

...

With so many plot points in hand, he began drawing like crazy.

100 plot points per draw.

He pulled countless bronze spirit cards, countless daily items…

until finally,

he fused a massive number of spirit cards

and synthesized one diamond-grade spirit card—Phoenix King!

His strength had also risen to the level of an ordinary jōnin.

At first,

he had planned to use the Phoenix King card on himself.

But its effects were far too support-oriented—doubling the power of healing ninjutsu,

and the skill itself was rather underwhelming—revival.

Plus, a person could only equip one spirit card.

If he gave the spirit card to a subordinate,

he himself could still gain the card's skills and effects.

So,

he gave up on using Phoenix King personally

and began searching for someone perfectly compatible with the card.

And today,

he finally found the perfect match—Karin.

That was how everything that followed came to be.

"Reviving Rin actually gave me a straight 5,000,000 plot points…

That's honestly terrifying~"

Looking at Nohara Rin, still unconscious beside him,

Byakuya couldn't help but smile.

"As expected of the woman who could sway the entire direction of this world's story."

Byakuya took out a set of organization uniform

and carefully dressed Nohara Rin in it.

Then he took her hand

and directly signed the organization contract with her.

For most people, he would need their consent to form the contract and control their soul.

But…

Nohara Rin was someone Karin had revived from death.

Therefore,

her consent wasn't required—he could forcibly sign her without permission.

"Buzz—"

With a wave of energy,

an intricate, mysterious connection formed between Byakuya and Nohara Rin.

At the same time,

an "X"-shaped mark appeared over her heart.

Just like with Karin,

Byakuya could now decide Nohara Rin's life or death with a single thought.

Though that was the limit—

he couldn't control her like a puppet.

"Kakashi!"

At that moment, Nohara Rin suddenly woke up.

She bolted upright and shouted "Kakashi!"

Then, dazed, she looked around.

"I… I'm not dead?"

"No. You've been reborn."

Nohara Rin was startled by the sudden cold voice.

She quickly turned her head—

and saw a very good-looking boy.

He looked about twelve years old.

No forehead protector, so she couldn't tell whether he was a ninja or not.

"Where… where am I?

You…

Who are you!?"
