The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon as I walked away from the Combat Training Ground.
Maya was clinging to my arm, practically skipping. Her previously crushed confidence had not only recovered but mutated into a dangerous new level of arrogance, fueled entirely by my little "physics lesson."
"Did you see their faces, Alex?!" she giggled, pressing her soft chest against my bicep. "That blonde senior looked like a squashed bug! You just bam! and he went flying! It was the hottest thing I've ever seen."
"Focus, Maya," I sighed, though I didn't push her away. "You need to learn how to compress your ice like that. If you can make your shields denser instead of wider, you won't get pinned down."
"I will, I will!" she promised, looking up at me through her eyelashes. "If you teach me privately, I'll be a good student. Very obedient."
Her hand slid dangerously low on my waist.
