Chapter 10 - Surge in Strength

Within the mountain range..

A week later..

SOU!

SOU!!

Arrows, like divine spears of judgement tore through the air at neck break speeds, their paths unimpeded by the green forestry, their target, a demonic beast wrapped in fog like demonic yuan power.

The stone scaled Warthog, a grade 2 demonic beast. One that was known for its incredible speed, a hide that was impenetrable for its realm, and huge tusks that could injure any cultivator below the 5th layer of Body Tempering.

But, on this day, the warthog, which considered itself an overlord had to flee with all its might from the assault of a very fast and unreasonable aggressor.

Its thick hide, and the ability to continuously change directions instantly no matter how fast it moved, made it difficult to take it down, no matter how accurate those arrows were.

It sped past a large tree curving to the right and speeding off in that direction, only to be caught by an arrow that struck it right in the torso.

SOU!

The arrow struck its incredible hide, and fell off almost instantly, without the least injury to it.

Right where the arrow had fallen, a figure landed silently, his descent failing to stir a single speck of dust on the ground, like a ghost.

Tall and lean, long black and white hair tied into a pony tail, with bangs that extended to the sides of his face. Upper part of his face wrapped up. His pants were raised to his knees and his lower extremities were taped and dried with blood. A quiver was strapped to his back and his hand he held a crystal blue bow.

Wind like foot. Extreme Speed for combat combined with ghastly footwork that made him as silent as a ghost and untraceable in motion.

Analyzing and breaking down the technique and combining it with the Sky Trace Phantom Steps had elevated the technique to another tier.

A feat that is unheard of and would've caused quite the uproar amongst the clan members, even the main clan. This feat alone was enough to earn him the moniker the Child of the martial Dao, but of course, Qingxuan was not superficial to pay attention to such pleasantries.

After all, he knew himself well. His successes in the martial Dao all came from the power of his divine eyes. His own natural comprehension had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Picking up the arrow, he let out a sigh and scratched his head. "This pig's defense is just too monstrous. Ordinary arrows can't tear through.." He stretched lazily. Almost a week ago, he had been bullied and nearly killed by a damn tiger, and today, he was hunting down a beast on par with it. His progress had truly been enormous.

He turned its head to the side for a moment and then his brow raised underneath the blindfold.

"It's heading to its cave?" His vision peered through layers of vegetation to nearly 400 meters away with relative ease and then he spotted a small cave hidden near a waterfall.

"That would complicate things.." He sighed, turned around and then turned into a silent Gale with incredible speed. He ran up a tall tree, grabbed a branch, flipped off it with incredibly agility and dexterity and soared towards another large tree in the distance.

He landed on the highest beach in a silent crouch. From there his gaze stretched beyond like lands outside the mountain range. He focused on the task ahead. From here, about 150m away, he was certain he could kill the warthog if he could just aim right.

His archery skills had the greatest improvement to him. Before he couldn't even kill a bird from 30m out in the skies, even with the divine eyes, but now, he could do it without even looking.

He pulled out the same arrow that had failed to kill the warthog, knocked it onto the bowstring and stretched the string taut. But in the next split second, the arrow left the bowstring, not headed towards the warthog.

SOU!

A long green snake whose long neck was stretched out and fangs were sharpened to bite him was killed, pinned to the tree trunk without even looking.

Qingxuan chuckled. It was literally impossible to sneak up on him with the divine eyes.

Walking to the snake, he pulled out the arrow from its throat and examined it. "Oooh venom. This is definitely going to hurt." He crouched low, knocked it back into the bowstring, and stretched it taut. His left eye opened underneath the blindfold.

From his position, the waterfall the warthog was heading towards was about 200 meters out in front while the warthog itself was running towards it from 3'oclock.

Time seemed to slow down right then, his perception soared multiple times, he could see everything so clear and vivid, as if he was watching the world with a microscope.

And the he fired.

SOU!!

The arrow pierced through the air, tore through leaves and lodged itself deep into the warthogs skull, in between both eyes.

The force from the arrow instantly displaced its motion, sending it crashing into a tree and unmoving. It was dead.

"Bullseye!"

Qingxuan laughed and then rushed towards it. He landed in front of it, examined the corpse for a couple of moments. "I wonder how much this will fetch on the market? Gosh, I'm really clueless. I should probably go sell them before I go back to the clan.." He took out a knife and began to skin the animal. He was clueless, but that didn't mean he wouldn't be able to identify the valuable parts of this beast.

The hide, the tusks, even parts of its jaws, and a bit of its skin. He removed them all and then went back for the corpse of the long snake.

He took out its fangs, and its scales, wrapped them up in leaves and headed back to his encampment.

It only took a couple of minutes to get back. He went to the bonfire, picked out a handbag woven from animal skin and stuffed the items back in, before he went to the stream to take a bath.

And then sat down. After grilling the piece of the warthog's flesh, he sat down and began to feast.

Fate. To think a month ago, he was a blind, weak boy with no talent for cultivation and destined to remain a bottom feeder for life. How quickly things change. Few weeks ago, he was struggling to even complete one thousand kicks, but now, he had broken through the fourth layer of Body Tempering, shed his old skin, and was reborn anew, with skin that was as tough as stone.

On top of that, he was just an ordinary 4th Body Tempering Realm cultivator.

The increase in strength had been so dramatic, he had been able to effortlessly kill that annoying warthog without breaking a sweat.

Qingxuan sighed. In his previous life, he was a go with flow kind of person, passive and unambitious. Waking up every other day, and just living for living sake.

But life had given him a new chance. Now he had the opportunity to become somebody. To make something out of this existence. Only a fool would waste such an opportunity. This was his second chance at life. And this was his story.
