Chapter 11 - Chapter-11:Invitation

Kai's hand gripped the doorknob while Caihong's rested on his black katana's hilt, just in case. Kanhatsu hovered behind Kai. The door creaked open—and Caihong blurred forward like lightning, swinging his blade coated in electric aether. The man at the threshold blocked it with one finger. It was Inpu Baket Amun, Mr. Axarcus's butler. The trio relaxed, though the bloodlust lingered thick in the air.

"Inpu, what brings you here so late?" Kai asked.

"There is a letter for you, Kai."

"Letter? For me?"

Inpu handed over a plain white envelope, bowed politely, and vanished down the hall. Kai shut the door. They regrouped on the beds.

"What's it say?" Kanhatsu asked.

"No idea. It's probably from my parents but it doesn't have any address nor stamp on it."

"Should we open it?" Caihong leaned in, eyes gleaming.

"I think it's not very safe." Kanhatsu cautioned.

"Yeah..." Kai agreed.

It didn't take long to pinpoint the bloodlust's source: that innocuous envelope.

"Why's it radiating bloodlust?" Kai murmured.

"Someone might have infused their essence of their arcanis of bloodlust," Caihong said. He eyed it warily. "Letters with arcanis are common...but bloodlust..the letter could be cursed or spelled."

"Who sent it?" Kanhatsu wondered. All eyes turned to Kai, who looked most baffled. 'Who might have sent this letter if not my parents and Kagutsuchi?' Thought Kai.

"Let's show this to Shi-sensei?" Kanhatsu suggested. "I mean he's our trio's teacher."

"Or rip it open here and see what's inside!" Caihong grinned recklessly, unfazed by the arcanis or bloodlust.

"You just called it dangerous."

"It won't kill us."

The letter was practically Kai's. After thinking for a while, he couldn't guess the sender. Kanhatsu and Caihong were quarreling—open it or show to Shi?

"Kai!" they chorused

."Yes!" Kai exclaimed when both called him in middle of their quarrel.

"You decide!!"

"Uh-Let's go to Shi-sensei"

Kai decided to go to Shi as no one among them knew much about arcanis, not even Caihong. The didn't knew where Shi-sensei's room is...so they decided to visit Mr.Axarcus' office. On their way, they found Adam and shi together.

"Saved us a trip," Caihong quipped.

Shi and Adam together felt exactly like ying and yang of Chinese culture, opposite but still together. Shi was expressionless and hard to approach while Adam was lively and friendly.

"Shi-sensei, who's this?" Caihong asked.

Kanhatsu and Caihong had missed Adam's arrival yesterday as they were unconscious after the fight with Shi. Only Kai knew his name.

"Call me Adam." He flashed a gentle smile.

"Adam, stop the charm. Can you feel that bloodlust in the air?" Shi's deadpan voice held a rare thrill.

"Shi-sensei," Kai offered the letter, "Inpu delivered this— said it is for me."

"It has a coating of aracnis of Intense bloodlust," Adam noted.

"It is just the essence, not the full arcanis. It's Harmless," Shi said..

"Ha! Told you that it is safe!" Caihong crowed triumphantly.

"Whatever," Kanhatsu huffed, annoyed.

Shi tore it open without asking Kai, scanning the contents.

"It's party invitation."

"Invitation?!" the trio blurted.Who'd lace a party invite with arcanis of bloodlust ?

"At a luxury hotel in Tokyo. Not very far."

"There is no relative of mine in tokyo and on top of that none of them is rich enough to hold a luxury party." Kai said.

Shi read on. At the signature, his blank face twisted into that horrifying grin. It was first time for Kanhatsu and Caihong to see that face of Shi. But Kai had seen it before. The memories of just yesterday refreshing in his mind, he was terrified.

"You're growing excited shi. Who's the sender?" Asked Adam calmly.

Shi's voice turned gravelly with anticipation: " The sender is Heaven's Fool."
