Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: I wonder how she's doing now.

The next morning, I woke up earlier than usual.

After preparing breakfast and cooking a bowl of hot porridge, I went upstairs feeling quite relieved. Thinking that Han Yuqi must be feeling a little better, a smile unconsciously curved on my lips.

I knocked on his door.

"Yuqi, are you awake yet?"

There was no answer.

I thought he was still asleep, so I gently opened the door and stepped inside.

He was still lying motionless on the bed, the blanket pulled up to his chin.

I called out softly again.

"Aqi?"

Still no response.

A feeling of unease suddenly arose in my heart. I hurried over and gently pulled back the corner of the blanket.

Han Yuqi's face was unusually flushed, and his breathing was more rapid.

I was startled and quickly put my hand to his forehead.

Hot.

Very hot.

"He has a fever…"

I frowned and looked at the bedside table where I had left the medicine last night. The medicine box was still there, almost untouched. A thought flashed through my mind.

Could it be… he secretly put the medicine away?

But at that moment, I didn't have the presence of mind to think much. I quickly put a fever-reducing patch on his forehead, then went down to the kitchen to reheat the porridge.

Before leaving the house, I stood by the bed for a long time, looking at his delirious face.

Finally, I could only sigh.

"Just bear with it a little longer… I'll be back soon."

I left a note on the table before leaving the house.

At school, I realized this was the first time I'd ever wished time would pass so quickly.

Today I only had morning classes, but every minute felt like an hour.

During the lecture, my eyes unconsciously glanced down at the watch on my wrist several times.

I wondered if Han Yuqi had woken up yet…

Has his fever gone down…

Did he take his medicine…?

These thoughts made it almost impossible for me to concentrate completely.

Finally, it was time to leave school.

I was packing up my lesson plans and about to leave when I suddenly saw Chu Xichen being dragged away by several students in the far hallway.

I frowned.

I wanted to ignore them and go home immediately, but my conscience wouldn't allow it.

I quickly followed.

Reaching the back of the gym, I immediately heard a commotion.

A group of students were surrounding Chu Xichen, pushing and shoving him while hurling insults.

"What are you doing?"

My voice rang out.

They all jumped and turned around. When they saw me, their expressions changed instantly, becoming awkward.

"T-teacher..."

Perhaps because I was a teacher, no one dared to say anything more.

I said coldly,

"Apologize to him."

The students looked at each other, finally bowing their heads and muttering apologies to Chu Xichen before quickly leaving.

I breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look at him.

"Are you hurt anywhere?" Chu Xichen shook his head, but there were still a few scratches on his hand.

I took him to the infirmary for a simple bandage, then bought him some food.

"Next time something like this happens, report it to the teacher. Don't let yourself be bullied like that."

Chu Xichen looked at me, his eyes slightly downcast, but he still nodded.

After handling everything, I almost immediately left the school.

At that moment, only one thought remained in my mind.

Han Yuqi.

I wonder how he is doing now.
