After several minutes of silence broken only by heavy breathing, Emi let out a hoarse laugh when she noticed Rae had passed out from pleasure.
This world isn't paradise, It's much, much better. Mara thought as she got up from the bed.
As she dressed, Mara couldn't stop thinking that not even in her most perverse fantasies had she imagined things would end up like this.
So this is what true happiness feels like, huh? she reflected, a lingering sense of awe still filling her mind.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft "shhh" from Emi, clearly meant to get her attention.
When Mara turned toward her, she saw the elf give her a thumbs-up and a wink—an unmistakable well done gesture.
Mara couldn't help but laugh to herself as she finished dressing and left the room.
She still felt awkward in that outfit, especially the short skirt and the black thigh-high stockings hugging her legs.
But it was an acceptable embarrassment if it meant she could sleep with women like those. So even if she might never fully get used to it, at least she could ignore the discomfort when she had to wear it.
With a pleasant ache still lingering in her muscles and the echo of pleasure coursing through her skin, she descended the stairs toward the reception at an unhurried pace.
And sure enough, when she arrived, Alice was there behind the counter, wearing that calm, warm smile that was already starting to feel familiar.
"Hello, dear. How did it go with your first clients?" Alice asked as she noticed Mara coming down the stairs, her tone gentle and lightly amused.
I feel like I'm in paradise, Mara thought to herself, still pleasantly numb from the pleasure that seemed to have settled into every corner of her body.
"Haha, everything went well, Alice. Oh, and… thanks for the surprise. I didn't expect Emi to join us too," she said as she dropped into one of the chairs at the reception, wearing the air of someone pleasantly exhausted.
"Fufufu… was that a problem?" Alice replied, clearly amused by her reaction.
"No, nothing I couldn't handle," Mara answered, playing along with a proud tone that sounded clearly exaggerated—but no less genuine for it.
After that brief exchange, a comfortable silence settled between them for several minutes.
Neither of them spoke, they simply enjoyed the calm of the moment.
Alice hummed a soft, almost inaudible tune, while Mara remained quiet, reflecting on how everything she had experienced since her reincarnation seemed to follow an almost perfectly written script.
It wasn't a complaint—far from it.
If anything, she was incredibly grateful to be part of whatever story had been prepared for her.
It was more a curious observation about everything that had happened over the past two days.
That pleasant, tranquil atmosphere lasted for a while, until Mara finally decided to speak.
"By the way, Alice… since I'll be working and living here from now on, I was wondering where I'll be sleeping," Mara asked, looking toward the older woman.
"Oh! Right, I almost forgot. Please, come here," Alice replied, motioning for her to come closer.
Mara stepped behind the counter and watched as Alice crouched down and pulled open a wooden hatch embedded in the floor, revealing what looked like a basement entrance.
Alice went down first, gesturing for Mara to follow.
As they descended, everything was dark—until suddenly four candles arranged around the basement lit up, revealing a modestly furnished room with a small bookshelf, a wardrobe, and three beds.
"Wow… how did you do that? I didn't know you were a mage," Mara asked, startled by the sudden light.
"Hehe, I'm not a mage, dear. I'm a pyromancer. I can only use fire spells—it's my affinity," Alice explained simply.
"I see…" Mara replied, though just as she was about to ask more about magic and how it worked in this world, something else caught her attention—the three beds."Um, Alice… why are there three beds down here?"
"Oh, one is Reiko's, the other employee who also lives here. She's currently at the church outside the city. She should be coming back soon," Alice said, striking a thoughtful pose as if calculating Reiko's return.
Mara was about to ask something else when a shout from upstairs interrupted them.
"ALIIIIIIICEEEE! MAAAAARAAAA! WHERE AAAAAARE YOOOU!?"
That voice was unmistakably Mordred's.
