What had started as delicate patterns on Eve's back now covered her shoulders, crept down her arms, and were beginning to trace along her ribcage. Each new line that appeared came with a flash of burning pain that made her gasp and clutch at the sheets.
"Your temperature is rising faster now," Dr. Thorne said, her voice tight with concern. "99.8. Your body is fighting the spell, trying to break through the binding."
"Is that good or bad?" Eve managed.
"Both," Dr. Thorne admitted. "Good because it means your true nature is strong, fighting to emerge. Bad because the faster this happens, the more violent the transformation is likely to be."
