Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: They punched so hard they started flying.

demon slayer.

"Stand? What's that?" Agatsuma Zenitsu looks puzzled at the sudden appearance of The World and Star Platinum.

"No idea."

Tanjiro shakes his head, then brightens. "Maybe they're guardian spirits."

"Guardian spirits?" Inosuke is lost; the term means nothing to him.

Rengoku Kyojuro explains, "Legend says when people die their souls remain, attached to this world. They become guardian spirits to protect friends or family."

He smiles at Tanjiro. "You might have guardian spirits watching over you."

In the video, Tanjiro's mother appeared to wake the 'sleeping' Nezuko.

So Tanjiro's slain family could be silently protecting him and Nezuko.

Thinking of this, Rengoku looks aside, grins widely as if seeing his own departed mother.

The dead are gone; the living must carry their will and keep fighting.

Rengoku Kyojuro always remembers his mother's words.

"Then… why are their guardian spirits out fighting?" Zenitsu asks, looking bemused.

He knows what guardian spirits are—he just wonders why the two in the video are brawling.

And they look ferocious; those muscles strike Zenitsu as downright absurd.

Agatsuma Zenitsu couldn't shake the feeling that the two who had just appeared looked far more powerful than any of the previous protagonists shown in the recap.

No—way, way more powerful.

'I haven't the foggiest!' Rengoku Kyojuro declared with a booming laugh.

Zenitsu was speechless. So this was a Hashira? All that fiery enthusiasm, yet somehow… oddly unreliable.

If you don't know, don't laugh so loud!

Naruto World – Konoha Village.

Danzo Shimura latched on to a key detail. Staring at The World, he muttered, 'Stopping time… a legendary time-release Ninjutsu?'

'What do you think, Hiruzen?'

He turned to Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage and renowned Professor of Ninjutsu who knew every technique in existence.

Of course, knowing and mastering were two different things—take Tobirama-sama and Minato Namikaze's Flying Thunder God Technique.

Even Hiruzen only knew of it; he could not perform it.

'Let's watch the rest of this clip first, then we'll talk.'

Hiruzen sidestepped the question; Konoha's archives did contain records of space–time Ninjutsu.

But space–time and time-manipulation were entirely different beasts.

True time Ninjutsu—Hiruzen would bet his life—didn't exist anywhere in the Ninja World.

Perhaps the ancient beings of the Three Great Sanctuaries, who had lived for untold centuries, might know of such arts.

The video rolled on.

'ora ora ora ora ora—!!!!'

'Muda muda muda muda muda—!!!!'

The World and Star Platinum kept up their rapid-fire exchanges.

The bout was dead even; fists blurred as the two Stands collided.

The scene shifted. Dio and Jotaro stared each other down, nothing visible between them.

A moment earlier The World and Star Platinum had been plain to see; now only the two men remained.

Yet the air itself seemed to ripple like a barrier.

And as they fought, Dio and Jotaro abruptly 'lifted' off the ground.

Outside the video – JoJo World.

'Hey, hey! Jotaro, you're flying!' Polnareff cried, stunned. He'd travelled with Jotaro long enough to know Star Platinum's strength, but levitation?

'Dio's airborne too?!' Avdol exclaimed.

'Vampires can do that?!'

Joseph Joestar was equally puzzled; he'd never heard of such a power.

'JoJo, what's going on?' Kakyoin Noriaki gave up guessing and asked the man himself.

'Yare yare… how should I know?'

Jotaro, cap in hand, was just as lost. Maybe Star Platinum had awakened something new during the fight.

Inside the video the battle pressed on.

Though both were floating, Dio's The World feinted and caught Star Platinum off guard.

A solid fist slammed into Star Platinum's face.

'Gah—!'

Jotaro spat blood, expression still iron—such a scratch was nothing.

'Heh-heh-heh…' Dio chuckled. 'In strength and precision my World is clearly superior. Now I understand—let's finish this!'

'Oraaaa!' Jotaro roared, ready to strike again.

Dio's mind flashed back a century. 'Only against the Joestar bloodline will I show no mercy.'

'ora ora ora ora—!!'

Star Platinum pressed the assault.

Calmly Dio declared, 'To end your life I'll need The World's true power.'

He flung his arms wide. 'The World—stop time!'

'BZZT—!'

The world around Dio drained to monochrome; only he retained colour.

Nearby, Stand summoned, Jotaro hung motionless in mid-air, face still resolute.

'At last the Joestar line dies by my hand.'

Dio hovered before the frozen Jotaro, hand raised. 'Farewell, destined nemesis!'

His arm swept down to deliver the killing blow.

Outside the video.

A shirtless Dio, admiring Jonathan's physique, smiled—sure the show was over.

Across the way the Stardust Crusaders gaped; this was their first glimpse of a world where time itself stood still.

The unstoppable Jotaro now looked like meat on a chopping block.

Yet at that instant, inside the footage, Jotaro's finger twitched.
