Chapter 82 – Thunder Without Mercy

Jay had been pushing Barry harder than ever.

Every day for the past week, Barry found himself gasping for air, sweat dripping from his brow, as Jay barked out instructions and drills. Phase training. Combat movement in frozen time. Dimensional echo awareness. Every aspect of the Speed Force was drilled into him, carved into his muscle memory like a soldier preparing for war.

Jay didn't say much. Not about why. Not about what he feared. But Barry could see it in his eyes: urgency. Desperation. Fear.

"Why don't we bring Dante in on this?" Barry asked one morning between sets.

Jay hesitated. "He's... different."

"He's on our side."

"I know. But he doesn't grow stronger like we do." Jay looked out the window at the blur that occasionally swept across the skyline. "He grows stronger when he gets angry. And that kind of power… that kind of rage… you can't teach. You can only fear it."

Dante, of course, refused the training. Not out of arrogance. He knew himself too well. Knew that the more furious he became, the stronger and faster the Void Force would make him. A darker truth, a power that responded not to discipline, but to wrath.

So, instead, he ran.

Through Central City's silent corners, through alleyways lit by orange streetlamps, across rivers shimmering beneath moonlight.

He wasn't looking for the Black Order. He wasn't searching for meta threats or lost time remnants.

He was just... running. For peace.

Because Dante knew. When the Black Order came again — and he would come — it wouldn't be just a fight.

It would be war. Bloody. Brutal. Apocalyptic.

And Dante was right.

---

It started with the sky.

Darkness didn't fall. It crashed. A pulsing, thunderous boom shook the sky like a war drum from the heavens. Storm clouds spiraled into Central City like a great black eye. Streetlights shattered. Car alarms erupted. Glass trembled in its frames. The ground cracked as reality warped.

Then he came.

Not like thunder.

Worse.

He came like the end of time itself.

The Black Order — death given shape — descended from a tear in space, walking out of a rip in the fabric of reality like a god stepping from nightmare. His iron suit screamed against existence, obsidian-black and vein-ridden with crimson void energy. Its movements echoed with mechanical horror, his hands glowing with spikes of dark red lightning.

Without warning, he struck.

Cars exploded. Pavement ripped open like paper. A building collapsed before anyone could scream. Shadows rippled across the city blocks as terrified citizens ran. The air itself grew heavy with void energy, crackling like a storm trying to consume the sun.

In STAR Labs, the sirens flared.

"HE'S BACK!" Cisco shouted, fingers flying across the console. "Downtown is being leveled!"

Barry didn't speak. He just suited up.

The lightning danced across him like an old friend as he zipped into the Scarlet armor. "I'll try to slow him down!"

"I'm coming too," Dante said, already halfway suited in his black and red gear. The Void Force shimmered around him like a vortex — subtle, predatory, dangerous.

But this time, they weren't alone.

Jay appeared beside them, adjusting the golden helmet atop his head, his old-school suit gleaming in the flickering red alert lights.

"I'm not sitting this one out."

Without another word, the three of them ran — a red blur, a crimson storm, and a golden streak splitting through Central City like lightning bolts sent from gods.

---

They reached the chaos within seconds.

The Black Order stood in the center of the destruction like a grim monument. Fire danced around his feet. His body emitted a low-frequency hum — a sound deeper than thunder, more ancient than sound itself. His mask, smooth and monstrous, turned to face them.

"You've come," he said, his voice like scraping steel. "Fools rushing toward their end."

Barry didn't wait. He attacked first, vanishing in a streak of red and circling around, trying to flank.

Jay shot in from the left, aiming high, electricity crackling off his arms.

Dante rushed like a demon — red lightning and dark shadows following in his wake.

The Black Order didn't flinch.

Barry landed a hit to his side — or tried to. The moment his hand connected, it phased through the Black Order like he wasn't fully there.

Jay followed up with a punch to the mask, but the Black Order caught his fist midair with ease and tossed him into a wall hard enough to leave a crater.

Dante arrived next, slamming into the Black Order's back with a double-fisted strike that sent shockwaves into the concrete.

For the first time — a reaction.

The Black Order staggered back, just slightly.

"Ah," he said. "You."

Dante's eyes glowed red, veins of void lightning crawling up his arms. "You're not untouchable."

"No," the Black Order whispered. "But you are predictable."

He vanished — not ran, vanished. One moment he stood there, the next, a trail of void energy exploded behind Dante's back as the Black Order reappeared and hurled him across the street with devastating force.

Barry caught Dante mid-fall, barely saving him from crashing through a store front.

Jay zipped back into the fray, punching in rapid succession. "He's not invincible! We hit him together!"

The three speedsters regrouped. They circled the Black Order in a storm of speed, creating a vortex of color and energy. Red, gold, and black lightning clashed, surging in a spiral around their enemy.

But the Black Order raised a single hand — and the vortex stopped.

Reality cracked.

A pulse of void force shot outward in a perfect circle, blowing all three of them back like leaves in a hurricane.

The world paused. Fire flickered. Smoke rose. Silence followed.

Dante crawled to his feet, blood dripping from his mouth.

He looked at Barry and Jay. "We have to think, not just hit."

Barry wiped the blood from his cheek. "Ideas?"

Jay stood up, breathing hard. "Split him up. Confuse him. He's powerful — but even gods can bleed if you strike from the right angle."

Dante's eyes narrowed, glowing with fresh fury.

"Then let's make him bleed."
