Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Observing a War and a Great Flood

Years passed, several decades I suppose. Finally, I turned 700, which, I must say, is quite an achievement! I possessed so much gold that, if I converted it to dollars, I would be a multi-millionaire. Wealth was never a problem!

During those years, I was able to finish building the city of Ur, and I was in the process of building the next one: the City of the Lamites, Lagash, and two more. Truthfully, I was completely swamped with work. At least the pay was incredibly good; I earned more money than I knew what to do with.

But something strange was happening. The air was thick with a palpable, almost unbearable tension. Even Innty, the leader of the Outsiders, had vanished without a trace, leaving a representative to take command in his absence. So he had no idea what was going on in the supernatural world.

Just in case, I decided to build a lifeboat. Literally! While I was doing that, I continued to oversee the construction of the cities and moved my gold to a safer location. I found a mountain with a huge cave, perfect for hiding my riches in case the world flooded. At least I would have something to invest in future projects.

Time passed without me noticing. My assistants were replaced by their children, and then by those children's children. Meanwhile, I still looked like a nine year old boy. How wonderful it is to be immortal! Although, sometimes during meetings, I wished my "assistants" would not look at me as if I were a lost child.

Finally, after finishing the three cities and receiving my payment, I headed to my mountain to continue working on my ship.

Name: Izu Evermore

Age: 1000 years, 6 months, 12 days

Year: 4000 BC

Height: 1.40m

Appearance: 9 years old

When I reached my first millennium of life, things started to get... crazy. One day, everything was quiet, and suddenly a huge explosion, like an atomic bomb, echoed in the distance, followed by more explosions. Hundreds of thousands of different beings began fighting each other in an unprecedented war, and I, being a keen observer, had the best front row seat.

There were dragons, angels, Norsemen, giants, fairies, trolls, elves, and every mythological creature you could imagine, battling enormous, high tech ships that unleashed soldiers and fighters. It was quite a sight!

The battle raged all over the world, in every corner. I even saw what appeared to be "God," though I was not sure. It was just a great golden light that hurt my eyes just looking at it. How bright!

At first, the battles were evenly matched, but then the supernatural began to recede. They decided to take a different approach: creating their own weapons, almost like the Anunnaki! It was not just sword fights and magic anymore; now we were talking about destructive weapons and alien warships. This was getting interesting!

While all this was happening, I went on with my daily life. While the world was going crazy, I kept working on my boat. Sometimes I would watch the conflict unfold, other times I would simply fall asleep.

One day, as the war raged on, a great dragon with blue and black scales, covered in deep wounds, lay on the ground. Its injuries were so severe that it did not have much time left to live.

"Well, it seems you've reached the end of your journey," I commented as I sat down in front of the dying dragon.

"A human?" he looked at me in disbelief.

"Yes, I'm human," I replied. "What's happening in the war?"

The dragon looked at me as if I were crazy, but then she started talking.

In short, the Anunnaki, from the planet Nivirus, wanted to repair their atmosphere, which had been damaged by gold and water. They initiated an agreement with the leaders of all factions to share knowledge and form lasting alliances against the threats of the universe. But something went wrong. According to rumors, the betrothed of an Anunnaki god, one of the daughters of the god of outer travelers, refused to marry a god from another major faction. What a drama among the gods!

Things worsened when, after a series of tensions, a group of "outsiders" killed the main god, which unleashed the fury of the factions and started an all out war against the Anunnaki.

"And that's all," the dragon said after telling me the story of how this conflict began.

"I understand now," I replied, letting out a sigh. "What a soap opera!"

"I suggest you hide if you want to survive," he warned me.

"Don't worry, I'm immortal. I'll live to see all this," I replied, with the arrogance of someone who knows that nothing can destroy him... or so I thought.

The dragon looked at me with a mixture of disbelief and concern, but then, with a sigh, she concentrated her power and formed an egg out of nothing.

"Take it," he said, handing me the egg.

"What's the egg for?" I asked.

"She is my child," he explained with a pleading look. "Please take care of her. Bring her into the world when things calm down."

I looked at her with determination. "Okay, I'll do it. Any names for when she's born?"

"Tiamat," she whispered before passing away.

I felt sadness upon seeing the dragon's corpse, but I carefully picked up the egg and returned to my construction. The war raged on for years, and after 20 years, the Anunnaki withdrew, though the various factions continued to pursue them for revenge. I used this time of peace to search for valuable things. Many supernatural beings and Anunnaki had fallen in battle, so I collected everything I could: weapons, books, and even knowledge about an energy called Aether, very similar to mana.

I kept everything to myself for a couple of years until a scream of agony shook reality itself. An army of hundreds of billions of beings was screaming with one voice. I knew what that meant: the world was about to be engulfed in water.

When I started to see it rain, I knew I had days, maybe a week, before the water covered everything.

I did one last check on my boat, grabbed some super cool gravity bracelets and some martial arts and medical training books (you never know when they'll come in handy).

A week later, the world was covered in water, washing away all the death and destruction that had occurred. I, for my part, sat calmly in a chair, reading some books from the crashed motherships, while training in martial arts and the Aether. Though I reserved the latter for when I had nothing better to do.

One hundred years later, the water finally receded, leaving a clean world, free from the war that had devastated everything. My enormous ship was left stranded somewhere that would later become Europe, in what we know today as Russia.

Upon setting foot on solid ground after nearly a century, I felt a profound peace. The world began to flourish once more, and humans began to reappear. I decided to seclude myself and train.

Centuries passed, and I learned all the martial arts that the books I had collected taught me: hand to hand combat, ranged combat, combat with swords, spears, javelins, bows and arrows, halberds, axes, hammers, nunchucks, and shields. I knew it all!

I also learned to control the Aether, that energy which is very similar to mana, but denser. My control over it improved over time.

One surprising thing about Aether is that it works based on mathematics; that is, you have to learn complex mathematical formulas in order to generate any real function.

This was something I discovered when I first tried to use magic thanks to the book of the Anunnaki; without mathematics it was simply impossible.

After much study and cramming formulas up my ass, I more or less achieved the comprehension to create simple spells; the bigger the spell, the more formulas you need to learn, and with practice you would do it unconsciously and faster.

It was more or less the type of magic that Solomon used according to the myths with his rings, books, studies, and all that.

If I had to give it a name, I would call it: "Human Magic."

Although it would take me decades to reach any real level, it will work; time is what I have plenty of now, and with time I would be a renowned magician.

Finally, the dragon egg she had cared for hatched after 50 years.

Oh yes! My body grew a little. Now, I looked like a 10 year old boy. Something is something, I guess!
