"Did... did you just say Kaslana?"
Kiana's enormous, perfectly-lined eyes went wide, her tone laced with excitement. Her own surname was Kaslana.
And the father she had been searching for all this time was also a Kaslana.
But the moment she spoke, both Otto and Rita turned their heads to look at her.
Emerald green and wine-red eyes fixed on Kiana, and being stared at by the two of them made her skin crawl.
Rita's expression was a little strange. There was a young lady at Schicksal HQ who bore a striking resemblance to the girl before her—a girl of such noble status that even Rita herself had only seen her a few times.
What was the relationship between this girl and that young lady?
Otto, on the other hand, simply offered a gentle smile.
"My cute little kitten, it's not a good habit to eavesdrop on others' conversations, you know."
He held no malice toward Kiana. In fact, he kind of wanted to mate with her.
Don't ask. If you must ask, it was because of the system's missions and his own thirst for Kiana's body.
Otto raised an eyebrow, feigning ignorance.
"What's this? My cute little kitten, are you also a Kaslana?"
"I am—"
Just as Kiana was about to speak, a finger pressed against her lips. Otto smiled and said, "This isn't a suitable place for a conversation. While I don't mind, I can't let two lovely young ladies like you be inconvenienced."
This was a love hotel. Otto felt that neither Kiana nor Rita belonged here.
He withdrew his finger, a glistening trace of moisture remaining on its tip. He nonchalantly wiped Kiana's saliva on the blade of the Seven Thunders.
He then stood up.
"My cute little kitten, your body should be recovered by now. Let's find a better place to talk."
"For instance, we can talk about the Kaslanas you're so interested in."
Without waiting for Kiana's reply, Otto turned to Rita.
"Rita, prepare a change of clothes for me."
Although Otto was wearing a shirt, his trousers had been shredded by the impact of his descent from the sky. As a result, his lower half was currently clad in a pair of the hotel's beach shorts and flip-flops.
"My Lord Overseer, Rita has already prepared them for you."
Before Otto could even finish his sentence, Rita presented a new set of clothes. Resting on top was a Schicksal-issued communication device.
Such a thoughtful and attentive maid.
However, this made Otto's heart skip a beat. Rita's powers of observation were too sharp. The moment he let his guard down, she might realize he wasn't the real Otto.
It was best not to get too deeply involved with a woman of this caliber for the time being.
"As expected of you."
Otto took the clothes. Feeling them over, he discovered they even included a pair of men's boxer briefs.
Did Rita pick these out?
Preparing someone's clothes so intimately... it felt a bit like a married couple.
Hehe.
"My Lord Overseer, allow me to hold that for you."
Rita extended her hands toward Otto, offering to take the katana from him.
For some reason, however, Rita felt a faint sense of danger emanating from the bewitching purple blade.
She was actually afraid of a sword?
"It's fine."
Otto shook his head and placed the Seven Thunders on the table.
A flicker of lightning danced across the blade, drawing the eyes of both girls. Kiana even looked like she wanted to reach out and poke it.
"It's electrified. You'll get zapped into a roasted Paramecium."
This warning was mainly for Kiana. As a powerful Valkyrie, Rita could easily withstand the surface-level electricity.
Sure enough, upon hearing his words, Kiana quickly retracted her hand, staring at the Seven Thunders with disbelief.
"Does this thing run on batteries? Why is it flashing? Is it leaking electricity?"
Seeing Kiana's skeptical look, Otto picked up the Seven Thunders and extended it in her direction.
As the crackling, dark purple blade approached, Kiana hastily hopped a step back.
Seeing her scurry away like a startled animal, Otto chuckled and placed the Divine Key back on the table.
He wasn't worried about it being stolen.
"Alright, my two lovely ladies. I'm going to change. Could you please give me some privacy?"
"Yes, my Lord Overseer," Rita replied. She was the first to leave the room. Kiana stuffed her hands into her jacket pockets and followed Rita out.
Truthfully, now that she had her mobility back, she should have made a run for it. Who knew what that blond villain had planned for her?
But she had heard him speak the name "Kaslana." The clue to finding her stinky old dad might lie with him, so Kiana couldn't leave.
If she missed this chance, she had no idea how else she would find her father, who had left without a word.
Even if there was only a sliver of hope, she had to grasp it.
She had to find her stinky old dad and punch him right in the face!
It was all his fault for leaving without saying goodbye!
This was the entire purpose of her wandering these past few years.
---o---
"Miss Maid, why do you seem so respectful toward that guy? And what did you call him, an Over...pig's ear?"
Once they were outside the room, Kiana walked behind Rita, inhaling the faint scent of roses and fighting the urge to drool.
My god, this is the first time in years I've seen a girl of this level.
How can she be so beautiful? And smell so good?
But Kiana could tell that this beautiful maid held a deep respect for that man.
A respect that came from the heart.
"Because he is the Lord Overseer. Also, you may simply call me Rita," Rita said with a sweet smile. She could see that the Overseer held Kiana in high regard and clearly had some plan in motion, so she wouldn't say too much.
She couldn't afford to disrupt the Lord Overseer's arrangements.
The two chatted idly outside, their voices just loud enough for Otto to hear from inside the room.
Otto was slightly disappointed that Rita hadn't come to help him dress, but he had his own hands and feet and didn't need the help anyway.
After changing, Otto stretched his arms out wide. Putting on that bluff for Raven had taken a lot out of him.
Then, he snapped his fingers at the Seven Thunders. The blade vanished into thin air.
In reality, he had simply stored the Divine Key in his system inventory. Upon obtaining it, the weapon had become bound to the system, allowing it to be stored there.
He walked to the window and pulled the curtains open.
Looking down at the sun-drenched street below, a smile spread across his face.
He spoke softly to himself.
"From now on, I am the Overseer of Schicksal."
Whatever the past held, he now had to live on in this Honkai-ridden world under this identity.
Live a good life.
Live a better life than anyone else.
"First things first, I need to get on good terms with the main trio, Rita, Durandal, and Fu Hua."
He absolutely had to avoid a death flag.
The Overseer of Schicksal would not die at the hands of another woman.
I really want the maid to be my wife.jpg
