Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: One Wave After Another

The armed helicopters overhead rumbled.

Searchlights illuminated Calvin Cemetery as if it were daytime.

Two sonic cannons mounted on armored vehicles on the ground and armed helicopters with Metal Storms overhead formed a pincer movement, completely surrounding Hulk.

The weapons in the hands of the Federal soldiers shone exceptionally bright under the searchlights.

And at this moment, Hulk, standing under the searchlights, looked at this scene and smiled.

He smiled very happily.

Just then.

Following a piercing sound from the armed helicopters, General Ross's voice echoed over Calvin Cemetery.

"Hulk, you are surrounded."

General Thaddeus Ross, who had immediately mobilized troops to New York to capture Hulk as soon as he received information about him, was currently in the command center of Quantico Military Base, watching Hulk, who was projected onto the big screen and stood exposed under the searchlights, and said in a deep voice, "You are suspected of endangering national security and forcibly entering a military Base. You are now officially arrested."

He was somewhat relieved.

Originally, he had thought of sending a special operations team, but after learning of Hulk's whereabouts, he directly brought overwhelming force.

In a word.

This was not Manhattan, nor was it some city street; it was just a cemetery.

He had not been punished for even destroying Manhattan, let alone a cemetery.

General Ross was determined to capture Hulk.

So...

Without any superfluous words.

General Ross, far away in Quantico Military Base, transmitted his voice through surveillance to the skies above Calvin Cemetery in New York City.

"You have ten seconds to surrender!"

"Prepare!"

"Buzz buzz buzz!"

As General Ross's words fell, on the armed helicopters, the Metal Storms, aimed at Hulk and capable of turning a person into a beehive in a second, began to power up and operate.

"Beep beep beep!"

The two sonic cannons mounted on the armored vehicles also entered their charging sequence under the operation of two operators.

"Clatter clatter!"

The Federal soldiers surrounding Hulk, at this command, not only loaded their rifles but also shouldered their Rocket launchers, aiming them at Hulk.

Hulk followed General Ross's voice, looked up, ignoring the blinding searchlights, and fixed his gaze on the surveillance camera below the helicopter.

His gaze fell on the monitor, his eyes seemingly piercing through the void, meeting General Ross's, who was in the command center of Quantico Military Base.

The next second.

Hulk's lips curled slightly upwards, his voice not loud, but clearly transmitted through the surveillance to the military Base's command center.

"Thaddeus Ross!"

"I suddenly remembered."

"I almost forgot about you. Thank you for reminding me that you exist."

"..."

General Ross's expression froze, but he quickly reacted.

For no other reason.

Hulk, who had just been under the searchlights, had disappeared.

"Wh—"

"Boom!"

"Ah!"

By the time Hulk was once again caught by the searchlights, an armored vehicle carrying a sonic cannon had already been sent flying.

Along with the sonic cannon operator's scream, with a bang, the overturned armored vehicle crashed to the ground, instantly crushing the operator to death.

The second armored vehicle followed closely.

So fast that before General Ross could react, the second armored vehicle had also been sent flying.

General Ross's eyes narrowed.

"Fire!"

"Buzz buzz buzz!"

The armed helicopters, which had been hovering over the cemetery, began to move, the operators in the cabins pressing their hands on the Metal Storms in front of them.

In an instant.

The Metal Storms aimed at Hulk below and began to spew fire at full speed.

Puff puff puff!

Dense bullets poured down like a torrential storm.

They slammed into the ground, causing the ground to crack and dirt to fly.

They slammed into tombstones, instantly shattering them and sending shards of stone flying.

They slammed into Federal soldiers...

Sorry.

That's called collateral damage.

"Fire!"

"Fire."

"Boom!"

A soldier, seeing Hulk easily send a comrade flying with a mere wave, panicked and quickly fired his aimed Rocket launcher at Hulk.

The Rocket, trailing a long tail, whistled as it flew straight towards Hulk.

Hulk turned to look.

Boom!

As the Rocket directly hit Hulk, brilliant sparks erupted and rushed outwards, igniting two unlucky soldiers.

But that wasn't important.

"It worked?"

Not only was the soldier who fired the Rocket overjoyed, but even General Thaddeus Ross, watching from afar, felt a surge of joy.

But...

How could it be?

Before the soldier's joyful expression could fade, Hulk, whose upper body clothing was now ignited, directly shot out from the flames.

Bang!

The soldier felt an intense pain in his chest and instinctively looked down.

What he saw.

Wow.

A fist-sized hole.

"Shit!"

"Shoot quickly!"

"Buzz buzz buzz!"

The soldiers on the armed helicopters, seeing this incredibly clear and bloody scene under the searchlights, instinctively cried out, then quickly aimed their Metal Storms at Hulk, who was tearing off his burning upper garment.

Hulk looked up.

"Ding ding ding!"

"Clang clang clang!"

Bullets fired from the Metal Storms, like a storm of pear blossom needles, assailed Hulk.

Hulk did not dodge or evade.

Dense bullets struck Hulk's head, face, and naked, muscular upper body.

Sparks flew.

He was unharmed.

Are you kidding?

These bullets couldn't even break through Hulk's defenses, let alone Hulk, who had already absorbed Gamma Power.

Hulk took a deep breath, looked at the armed helicopters above, and the moment the ground beneath him cracked, he shot into the sky like a cannonball.

The armed helicopter pilot was terrified, trying to fly away from the helicopter.

But unfortunately...

It was too late.

Boom!

As Hulk shot through the armed helicopter like a cannonball, the helicopter, pierced below him, exploded with a stunning sound, accompanied by a towering fireball.

The helicopter, now a fireball, rapidly plummeted towards the ground below, and after a loud crash, it crushed many tombstones before finally coming to a halt due to the resistance of the earth.

General Ross, far away in the Quantico Operations Command Center, was stunned, looking at the completely garbled big screen.

Those on site, witnessing this inhuman scene with their own eyes, were also completely stunned.

The next second.

The surviving soldiers, seeing a streak of light land and dart towards them, quickly reacted, turning and running away based on instinct.

But it was too late.

Killing one is killing, killing two is also killing, so killing over fifty is also killing.

It's merely a matter of quantity.

In just a blink of an eye, the offense and defense had completely reversed.

The once formidable Federal soldiers were now like stray dogs, screaming and shrieking, wishing their parents had given them two more legs.

The Federal soldiers tried to run towards the cemetery gate.

One Federal soldier, hearing the increasingly fewer screams behind him, and then seeing the gate within reach, a hint of joy appeared on his panicked face.

The next second.

This joy froze, not just his expression, but his body too.

The soldier looked down, seeing a small, still-beating object in a bloody hand that had appeared in his line of sight.

His intuition told him, 'This is my heart.'

After the soldier's last thought flashed through his mind, he had no more thoughts, his eyes closed, his body went limp, and with a thud, he fell to the side.

By the time Spider-Woman arrived at the cemetery, Peter, crouching on the wall on all fours, could hardly believe his eyes at the scene before him.

The ground looked as if it had been plowed by a tractor.

Countless shattered tombstones.

The ground was covered with the dismembered bodies of soldiers.

Not far away, a burning, two-halved helicopter was still alight.

And...

The two overturned armored vehicles not far away; the door of one armored vehicle was kicked open from the inside, and then a blood-soaked soldier struggled to crawl out.

The next second.

The soldier, who had just half-crawled out, seemed to sense something and struggled to look up.

What he saw.

Hulk, shirtless, stood expressionless before him.

The soldier opened his mouth.

"I just—"

"Puff!"

"..."

Spider-Woman's heart trembled involuntarily as she watched the soldier's head shatter like a watermelon. By the time she came to her senses, Hulk, who had just been there, had disappeared.

Where is he?

Spider-Woman was slightly startled, subconsciously looking around, then got up from the wall, shot out a web, and swung away with a whoosh.

Thud!

Peter landed steadily, then looked at Hulk not far away, who was gently tracing a photograph on a tombstone.

Hulk's right hand caressed the picture of his sister, Anya, on the tombstone in front of him, a fire already ignited in his heart.

Peter cautiously walked over.

"Hulk—"

"Peter."

Hulk withdrew his right hand, turned to look at Peter, who had just spoken, and interrupted, "What would you do if someone tried to destroy your Uncle Ben's tombstone?"

What?

Uncle Ben.

Peter answered almost without hesitation: "I would kill him."

The Peter in front of him was not the extraordinary Spider-Man, nor the tech Spider-Man, but the original Spider-Woman, one who, after learning of his Uncle Ben's murder, painstakingly found the robber, killed him, and never thought of going through legal channels. That's the original Spider-Woman.

This was also why he liked the original Peter Parker.

Not only was he shy and reserved like him, but he also clearly distinguished between gratitude and resentment, just like him.

Hulk listened to Peter's answer, unsurprised, and pointed to his sister Anya's tombstone: "This is my sister, Anya. What, are you going to stop me from getting revenge?"

Peter's eye twitched as he looked at Hulk, who was staring at him expressionlessly, but with visible flames of anger deep in his eyes. He said nothing, merely moving silently to the side.

Hulk smiled slightly at this.

"Thank you."

"Do you need help—"

Peter opened his mouth, and then fell silent as Hulk instantly vanished from his sight before he could finish his sentence.

Finally, the sirens wailing outside the cemetery roused him.

"Shit!"

"Something big has happened."

Peter jolted, realizing the gravity of the situation.
