Chapter 27 - Chapter 26: Halfway Through the Internship, Collapsed on the Road!

The next day.

On his way to Osborn Biological Industry for his summer job, Hawk was still thinking about the gamma stone he had left at Quantico Military Base.

He had already figured it out.

If he was going to forcefully take it from Quantico Military Base, there was only one way.

Quick decisive action.

No dragging it out.

After all, the place he was going to attack was Quantico Military Base, not just any other place.

The Federal Police Academy was there.

Even the famous Langley headquarters was there.

To put it bluntly.

Going to rob Quantico was no different from stepping on the heads of the U.S. Military, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the CIA and taking a dump.

But...

Even if it meant taking a dump on the heads of the Military, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the CIA, he had to go.

The gamma stone.

He was determined to get it.

"However..."

"Success comes from preparation, failure from lack of it."

"I need to go to Quantico first and scout the area."

"At the very least, I'll do a preliminary on-site investigation and plan an escape route."

Hawk thought silently to himself as he swiped his card, walked into the Osborn Biological Industry Building, and returned to the Bioengineering Department.

Immediately after...

He was called into the supervisor's office.

Max Dillon, the future Electro, was also there.

The supervisor, a middle-aged man with a receding hairline who looked devoid of desires, had a grim expression on his face. After a moment of silence, he said to Max Dillon, "Starting today, you'll go to the maintenance team."

Max Dillon was stunned by the news.

"Supervisor, I..."

"I haven't finished yet."

The supervisor interrupted Max Dillon's speech, then looked at Hawk and sighed, "Hawk, you've been dismissed, but you'll get this week's salary."

Hawk blinked.

He wasn't as surprised as Max. Although he had already guessed the reason, he still looked at the supervisor calmly.

"May I ask why?"

"The accident in Dr. Connors's lab yesterday."

As expected.

Hawk thought to himself.

Max, who was standing nearby, quickly interjected, "Supervisor, what does the power outage have to do with us? Our bioelectricity has always supplied the building's daily power. The power for equipment in various departments isn't..."

The supervisor rubbed his forehead: "Alright, this isn't a discussion, it's a decision. You go out first, Hawk, stay here."

Max stood frozen in place, then looked at Hawk.

Hawk shrugged.

"It's fine, Max."

"...Alright."

Max, hearing this, looked at the supervisor, seemingly wanting to say something, but he just opened and closed his mouth, then lowered his head and walked out.

After Max left the office, the supervisor sighed again and looked at Hawk: "I'm sorry, I tried everything I could to keep Max, but I couldn't keep you. You're very good, Hawk. If you have any requests, you can make them, and I'll try my best to fulfill them."

Hawk smiled: "It's fine, just explain it clearly to Mrs. Snow."

His purpose in coming to Osborn Biological Industry was to find gammanian. Now that gammanian had been found, his objective here had been achieved.

Since that was the case, there was no point in staying at Osborn Biological Industry.

But what he had thought of before was taking leave, not resigning.

After all, this summer job was found for him by Mrs. Snow as a favor. Mrs. Snow was a good person who had always taken care of him, so he didn't want to waste Mrs. Snow's kindness.

Now it was fine.

He didn't even need to ask for leave.

The supervisor, hearing Hawk's request, breathed a sigh of relief internally and nodded, saying, "That's for sure. In fact, I just finished talking to Selena. After all, I'm also clear about this matter, you and that person..."

Hawk looked at the frowning supervisor and reminded him.

"Max."

"Right, Max."

The supervisor's brows relaxed, and he sighed, "This matter isn't your fault or Max's. I know that, but... there's no other way."

Hawk also shook his head and smiled.

In fact, just as Max said, the Bioelectricity Department's power mainly supplied the building's daily electricity.

After all, how much electricity could those electric eels generate in a day?

Not to mention so many labs, so many large and various power-consuming pieces of equipment.

But it couldn't be helped that some people were foolish.

To put it plainly, the cause of this incident was an Osborn executive who thought the Bioelectricity Department could handle more, and it resulted in this mess.

Now that something had happened, that executive wasn't willing to take responsibility.

Hmm.

Very bad, but very fitting for the image.

It was that simple.

Hawk didn't linger in the supervisor's office. He took his eight hundred U.S. dollars for the week and, with a carefree shrug, walked out of the Osborn Biological Industry Building behind him.

"Hawk, wait!"

Just as Hawk was about to cross the road to take the subway back, Gwen chased him out of the building.

Hawk turned around and looked at Gwen, who had chased after him.

"Mrs. Snow called you?"

"Mm."

After Gwen stopped, she placed her hands on her knees and took a few breaths.

She had just received Mrs. Snow's call and rushed down, but the people in the Bioelectricity Department told her that Hawk had already left.

But thankfully.

Gwen calmed her breathing, then looked at Hawk's facial expression: "Are you... alright?"

Hawk shrugged: "Pretty good."

He hadn't let Mrs. Snow's favor go to waste, successfully extricating himself from Osborn Biological Industry and now able to go to Quantico.

And he even got a week's salary for free.

Feeling great.

Hawk thought to himself, looking at the worried Gwen, and grinned, "Don't worry, I'm really fine. The supervisor said that when winter break comes, I can still come here to work."

The supervisor did say that.

But he most likely wouldn't come, though he didn't refuse either.

What if?

Don't use up all your strength, don't say everything, leave a line in your dealings, so you can meet again in the future.

Hawk understood this principle.

Gwen, hearing this and seeing the unfeigned expression on Hawk's face, confirmed that Hawk was truly fine, then nodded and asked, "So what are your plans next? After all, there's still over a month until school starts."

"Stay home and read some books. You know, with just over a month left, it's hard to find another suitable summer job."

Hawk shrugged, saying so, then added, "Alright, you should go back. I'm really fine."

Gwen nodded upon hearing this: "Okay, then if you're free, let's go to the library to read together."

Hawk was slightly taken aback.

Gwen once again didn't give Hawk a chance to speak. It seemed that after practically forcing her phone on Hawk, she had found the correct way to talk to him. After saying this, she turned around, hands in her pockets, and walked back into Osborn Biological Industry.

Hawk looked at Gwen, who was still smiling and waving at him in front of the building, and couldn't help but frown.

The next second.

He turned and left.

Important matters first!

Quantico!

I'm coming for you!

Let go of my gammanian!!
