Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Dr. Bofoi

"You're spying on me?!"

Child Emperor reacted quickly, immediately questioning him.

Dr. Bofoi did not deny it:

"Although you are no longer my assistant, as a child Genius whose mind is not yet fully mature, it is necessary for me to monitor you to avoid you being influenced by bad ideas."

"Are you looking down on me—"

Child Emperor gritted his teeth, spitting out each word one by one.

This was exactly why he didn't get along with Dr. Bofoi!

No matter how much of a Genius Bofoi was, or how capable he was.

Child Emperor would feel respect for him.

But it was hard to work with him with genuine joy.

With that terrible personality of talking to himself—most of the time not even speaking at all—he stubbornly completed his goals alone according to his own thoughts.

Dr. Bofoi continued in a flat, conversational tone:

"Don't get hung up on such things. If it makes you feel better, you can consider it a form of concern."

"Heh—then I'm truly flattered."

Child Emperor responded sarcastically.

Several young companions stood nearby, looking at each other; none of them had ever seen Child Emperor like this.

Was the person on the other side of the call the Dr. Bofoi he had mentioned?

He certainly seemed like a strange person.

"Setting aside the spying for now, why are you asking about Mr. Aokiji?"

Child Emperor's confusion was tinged with vigilance.

If he had to say who among the people he knew...

...was most likely to commit criminal acts...

...only Bofoi's name would pop into Child Emperor's mind.

He had no regard for worldly conventions.

To him, the moral values of ordinary people were childish and ridiculous.

Just during the days when Child Emperor was an assistant at his research institute, he had seen many technologies that skirted the edge of the law.

He might have even secretly... No!

The act of spying on me is already illegal!

Regarding Dr. Bofoi's mention of Aokiji,

Child Emperor couldn't help but become wary.

"...I have developed some interest in the Hero Association."

Deep within the barren mountains.

Inside a spherical research institute with a special alloy shell.

An old man with a balding head, a long face, and buckteeth sat surrounded by countless high-tech creations.

On the large screen in front of him,

Information on all the high-level officials of the Hero Association was layered and stacked.

Dr. Bofoi reviewed the data on the association's top brass as he spoke to Child Emperor:

"You only need to give your own judgment of Aokiji."

"The reason isn't clear, I refuse to cooperate!"

Child Emperor rejected him immediately.

A faint surge of pleasure rose in his heart.

Such a blunt rebuttal was something the other party used to say to him during his time as an assistant.

Today, he could finally switch positions for a bit!

"Please explain your intentions in detail, otherwise I'll have to inform 'Hero'!"

"..."

Dr. Bofoi rationally analyzed the efficiency of obtaining information from other channels after hanging up.

In the end, he still reached a conclusion.

For the sake of efficiency and analytical accuracy, learning through Child Emperor was the optimal choice.

Only then did he speak again:

"The Hero Association is a brand-new, unprecedentedly large charitable organization."

"I need to analyze everyone capable of influencing the future decisions of the Hero Association to judge whether this model can succeed."

"And Aokiji's current influence not only allows him to interfere within the Hero Association, but it is also sufficient to affect society."

"Therefore, I need your judgment of him to build a basic analytical model."

Inside the research institute, the supercomputer's program was still constantly searching the network.

It listed and organized information related to Aokiji.

However, the oldest information that could be found about Aokiji...

...was only from a few days before the official establishment of the Hero Association.

Before that, it was as if he had never existed.

Did he change his identity?

Or did he use some power to completely hide his past information?

Dr. Bofoi had no way to deduce it.

So he had to contact his former assistant.

"Oh—so that is to say, Doctor, you trust my judgment very much?"

Child Emperor raised his chin.

Like a child who had been praised by an adult.

Dr. Bofoi answered coldly:

"You were with me for so long; if you can't even do something like this, I would only regret the time I invested in you."

Child Emperor's expression slumped again.

Still such a buzzkill!

He subconsciously wanted to lick a lollipop to soothe his annoyance.

Only then did he remember that he had already given away the last lollipop.

These adults are really, so annoying!!

Child Emperor strongly condemned these unreliable adults in his heart.

"My judgment is that Mr. Aokiji isn't some perfect hero out of a comic book, and he likes to make people angry, but he is performing his duties as a hero well."

Dr. Bofoi looked at the only recent data and asked with narrowed eyes:

"Do you sense any anomalies about him?"

"Anomalies?" Child Emperor frowned. "You're suspicious of him, why?"

Dr. Bofoi did not tell Child Emperor the situation.

No matter how smart he was, he was ultimately a child.

If he learned of extra information, given his curiosity, he would definitely intervene.

Whether out of a habit of handling things alone...

...or out of protection for his former assistant...

...Dr. Bofoi did not intend to let Child Emperor get involved.

"It's just a question required for analysis."

"Is that so..." Child Emperor didn't quite believe it.

"Does being unusually interested in robots count?"

Child Emperor really hadn't noticed any anomalies with dangerous tendencies in Aokiji.

Actually...

Dr. Bofoi was the most abnormal one!

The two continued their Q&A.

Bofoi recorded Child Emperor's judgments.

After a while, Child Emperor's tone became serious and earnest:

"Doctor, I have a question."

"You said you want to analyze whether the Hero Association's model can succeed. If the answer you get is failure..."

"What action would you take against the Hero Association?"

Bofoi was not surprised he would ask this question.

Lifting his eyelids slightly, he said slowly:

"If it's a problem with the Hero Association itself, I will optimize it."

"If society cannot accommodate this system... I will use the plan we discussed before to manage the world's security."

"That plan is too dangerous!" Child Emperor immediately retorted.

"Wielding large-scale military power in an individual's name, equipping all areas with armed and defensive robots—it's practically no different from a dictatorship!"

"If something goes wrong, the entire society will be implicated!"

"That's why it's the final plan." Bofoi hovered his finger over the hang-up button.

"Moreover, if the AI program we were co-developing is perfected, there will be no mistakes."

"If that thing loses control! The danger level will only—"

Before Child Emperor could finish, the call was disconnected.

He frustratedly ruffled his own hair.

"That old geezer—!!"

...

(Throw some stones)
