As she was in thought, her father interrupted.
"Dont get overwhelmed already, we'll be swinging swords till you can't anymore."
'Oh right, can't zone out now.'
"Let's start then, see if you can keep up!"
A fierce glint shone in young Eleanore's eyes.
These words caused a few of the armed men and women at the training ground to look at her at stop fighting. She could distinctly here a few guys get smacked and fall over.
"Y—Young miss.."
One of the men in the training ground was still a little shocked. Turning to look at her father, even his eyes were a little wide.
As soon as she was beginning to wonder if something was wrong about what she said, her father put his hand on her shoulder
"That's my girl! With an attitude like that you'll surpass me in no time." A giant smile formed on his face.
She then got out of her nightgown and into robes more appropriate for training.
Seeking to keep up her interest in battle, her father walked up to one of the many weapon racks sitting around, picking up two wooden swords.
"These will do just fine." He walked up and handed one of them to her. Once he had, he held his sword in front, getting into a battle stance. "Prepare yourself Ellie" A small smile formed on his face.
From the look of his stance and his confidence, she could easily make out that he was experienced in swordsmanship.
Elanore knew she wouldn't win, but she had to set a goal for herself. 'I'll slowly but surely get better, for now I want to last 15 strikes in just this round' It was a humble start but she didn't know how strong she was and she assumed he'd be holding back.
She after replicating his stance as best she could, she spoke. "Should I attack first? I don't know your as spry as you used to be"
Her fathers eyes widened. 'Did she just call me old?' He seriously had to check a mirror lately. If he daughter was able to notice fresh from a coma, this might be an issue.
'Now's my shot!' Elanore dashed forward, maintaining her stance and swung full force at her father, who regained focus and deflected the attack at the last second.
"Poking fun at your old man and trying to sneak attack me? You're rescourceful I'll give you that."
'I'm a little hurt, but I'm glad she's taking this seriously, this resourcefulness will certainly help in the future'
He knew his daughter was bright. He just didn't think it would be in this area.
Elanore repositioned her sword, getting back into her stance. A confident look on her face. "Keep up."
She dashed forward again, only to this time have a strike coming her way with unexpected speed, smacking the wooden blade from her hand and snapping her back into reality.
A wooden blade was quickly placed against her neck. "I like your resourcefulness, but just for future instances, don't mistake it for actual skill."
Elanore went back to pick up the sword with a sour expression. "That won't happen again!"
The next few hours continued with them actually trading blows, With Elanore actually being able to hold her sword.
*Bang* "only do an overhead if you see an opponent reeling, or unprepared. It should be a final blow in most cases"
*CRASH* "Don't swing so wildly, It will only get worse if you do. Be more precise."
Another clash ensued, and while their were plenty of problems, she was beginning to improve.
Looking At his daughter, Lucian smiled.
'My little girl is becoming a fine warrior yet'
A smile appeared on his face.
Elanore had a few scratches and marks over her face and chest area. Some places looked like they were going to bruise, and yet she was stone faced. her breathing was labored and yet she seemed more determined than ever.
Elanore was in a rather good mood.
'I'm improving!!! Come on dad, slip up so I can tell mom a beat a warrior in a fight!'
Once that did happen she wasn't going to allow him to live it down. Not after all this punishment she received to get to this moment.
All ruined by one sentence. "Come on Elanore, It's time to eat." Her father put his blade down and walked towards the entrance of their estate. He looked over his shoulder, waiting for her to join.
"Dad, you are so lame!!" Lucian simply chuckled. "Yeah yeah, come inside."
'Damn it. I was close I know it!' This was of course her delusion. Her father looked absolutely pristine and did not look to be in trouble at all. It's almost as if he wasn't throwing her around for 3 hours.
Dropping her sword, she too went inside.
'I wonder what's for dinner?'
