In an instant.
4 became 16. 16 became 64. 64 became 256.
The [Boxer Mech] was suddenly surrounded by over two hundred densely packed tracking missiles.
The beep beep beep of targeting locks merged into a continuous tone inside the cockpit.
Next moment.
All missiles fired simultaneously. The exhaust plumes momentarily enveloped the entire [Boxer Mech].
There were only about 50 enemy aircraft in total. On average, each lucky enemy jet was allocated 5-6 "little rascals."
In a flash.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM——
Countless fireballs erupted across the sky.
Deafening explosions merged into a single roar.
The azure sky turned red.
Shockwaves from the explosions collided and dissipated.
The dogfight, which had been somewhat back-and-forth, ended instantly.
The "audience" inside the Quinjet stared dumbfounded at the scene.
Venom, terrified of fire and loud noises, retracted completely into Harry's body.
Harry, dazed by the shockwaves, froze for a moment.
Then he started screaming Aaaaaahhh as he plummeted toward the ground.
Remember, all of this started from just four thumb-sized micro-missiles released by Luca from the [Boxer Mech].
God knows how many of these micro-missiles were stored inside the mech.
Even Tony inside the Veronica armor gulped nervously.
Is this spatial compression technology? Is this kid planning to spar with me using these missiles??
Tony was grateful that during their last spar, the [Boxer Mech] hadn't been equipped with weapon modules.
Otherwise...
This was the "Cluster Missile" Luca had mentioned.
Technically, it wasn't difficult for Luca.
Simply put, he turned Hoi-Poi Capsules into micro-missiles, then nested them layer by layer. Finally, the real tracking missiles were released uniformly.
These final missiles were already armed and active when compressed. The moment they were released, Haro, the "Super Pilot," would reassign targets to them.
The hardest part wasn't the technology, but the tedious process and cost of "packaging" and manufacturing the missiles.
But this perfectly satisfied Luca's "insufficient firepower phobia."
In fact, the [Boxer Mech]'s missile bays contained not only large quantities of "Cluster Missiles" but also "Cluster Mines," "Cluster Turrets," "Cluster Drone Swarms," and "Cluster Haro Repair Crews," all packed in similar Hoi-Poi configurations.
Even so, due to incomplete production lines, insufficient capacity, and the cumbersome "packaging" process, most of the missile bays weren't even full yet.
Given enough prep time, Luca alone could equal a full mechanized army.
Everyone witnessing this, though unaware of the exact loadout, had one thought:
Do not mess with the brat!
"Aaaaaahhh~~~"
Harry, still falling, suddenly felt wings unfurl on his back again.
He jerked to a stop in mid-air, then Venom flew him back up.
But this time, even Venom, the seasoned multiversal traveler, subconsciously kept his distance from Luca's [Boxer Mech].
"Cough cough. Continue forward. Target: Helicarriers!"
Cap was the first to snap out of it, ordering the advance.
This time, everyone seemed a bit more confident about the upcoming battle.
"Speak! Are you confident you can destroy that mech?!"
On the bridge of Helicarrier No. 1, Hive looked coldly at Alexander Pierce.
Since they sent fighters to intercept the Avengers, they naturally monitored the battle.
The Hydra faction, having secured D.C., hadn't expanded outward yet precisely because they were waiting to annihilate the Avengers first.
Otherwise, no matter how much territory they took, this group of superpowered "troublemakers" would pose a huge problem for Hydra's rule.
But no one expected the rebels to survive the first wave. Or that the dozens of interceptors would achieve nothing.
No, maybe they expected the interception to fail and only delay them.
But they didn't expect it to be resolved so easily, with zero casualties on the Avengers' side.
Hearing Hive's question, Pierce felt immense pressure.
Based on the footage transmitted before the fighters were destroyed, the blue-and-white mech's firepower meant the Helicarrier would be vaporized if it got close.
More importantly, the mech had tanked several missile hits without a scratch.
Can the Helicarrier's anti-air defenses really stop that mech?
At this moment, Alexander Pierce hated whoever came up with Project Insight.
This plan is full of holes!!!
But regardless of his internal screaming, he had to answer Hive carefully.
Or he'd be turned into a puddle of goo before the Helicarrier even crashed.
"Lord Hive, there are three fighters equipped with nuclear warheads on the Helicarrier. I suggest launching them immediately to wipe out the Avengers."
As Pierce said, the Helicarriers carried nukes. The nuke Stark diverted in the Battle of New York had launched from an old-model Helicarrier.
Hydra-controlled bases also had nuclear silos.
Previously, Hydra aimed to rule, so they didn't want to nuke their own turf.
But now, nuclear contamination was the least of their worries. If they didn't stop the Avengers, they wouldn't have any rule at all.
"Also, Lord Hive, regardless of the nukes... I suggest we take a transport shuttle back to the ground command center."
Yeah, interception aside...
Pierce didn't want to stay on this giant flying coffin for another second!
