"Now who can tell me the MVP of this match?" All Might asked the students.
Yaoyorozu Momo stepped forward again to offer the critique. "The MVP was Kazama-san. He was efficient in taking down Todoroki-san, he didn't cause much damage to the building and the destruction was kept in the same floor. Hiroki-san also deserves credit for his immediate reaction to the opening, ensuring Shoji-san couldn't regroup."
Todoroki Shoto entered the room shortly after. He didn't look at anyone, simply walking to the back of the room and staring at the floor. His right hand was still slightly red from the cold.
The trial continued with Match 3. Kirishima Eijiro and Sero Hanta (Heroes) faced off against Yaoyorozu Momo and Tokoyami Fumikage (Villains).
Yaoyorozu immediately took command, using her Creation quirk to build a series of reinforced steel barricades that sealed the main corridor. Tokoyami positioned Dark Shadow in the center of the dark room, using the lack of light to maximize the shadow's range. Kirishima tried to break through the front with his Hardening, but the barricades held. Sero attempted to use the ventilation shafts to bypass the ground floor, but Yaoyorozu had already tracked his movement. She deployed a specialized flash-canister that blinded Kirishima, allowing Dark Shadow to pin Sero against the ceiling. The Villains secured the win through superior positioning.
Match 4 pitted Kaminari Denki and Jiro Kyoka (Heroes) against Hagakure Toru and Ojiro Mashirao (Villains).
Jiro used her Earphone Jacks to locate the heartbeat of the 'villains', but Hagakure had removed her boots and gloves, making her completely invisible and silent. Ojiro stood guard at the weapon, using his tail to maintain a defensive stance. When the heroes entered, Kaminari panicked as Ojiro lunged at him. He unleashed an Indiscriminate Discharge of 1.3 million volts, which hit the metal pipes in the room. The electricity dazed Jiro and short-circuited Kaminari's own brain. While they were reeling from the surge, Hagakure simply walked past them and touched the weapon. The Villains won by default of the Heroes' lack of control.
(A/N: You might think this was a silly win but, I wanted to show that not everyone is so prepared, they are nervous using their quirk against other people for the first time. Until now they have only used it against the robots or something else.)
The final bout was Match 5: Ashido Mina and Aoyama Yuga (Heroes) versus Sato Rikido and Asui Tsuyu (Villains). Asui used her immense agility to cling to the high corners of the room, utilizing her long tongue to snatch Aoyama's laser-firing belt but before she could he fired a laser at her tongue, making her dodge and save her tongue, she bounced off walls to dodge and finally took away the belt before he could get a clean shot.
Sato consumed his sugar dosage to boost his strength, standing as a physical wall between the Heroes and the weapon. Ashido tried to melt the floor to trap Sato, but he dodged with higher agility and strength. Sato smashed through a side wall to avoid the acid and closed the distance. Asui dropped from the ceiling, wrapping Aoyama in capture tape with high-speed precision while Sato pinned Ashido with a heavy shoulder tackle. The Villains took the final victory.
"THAT CONCLUDES THE TRIALS!" All Might shouted as the final buzzer echoed through Ground Beta. "Aside from young Midoriya's injury, this was a successful day! Change back and return to class!"
In the locker room, Bakugo Katsuki was the first to leave, ignoring everyone. I changed out of my tactical suit and packed it into its designated case. Hiroki was still talking about the match, his energy barely flagging despite the day's exertion.
"Takeru, that was wild. I really thought we were going to be ice cubes for a second there."
"It went according to plan," I replied. "You kept your head in the game, which was the important part. Well done buddy."
We headed toward the main entrance gate of U.A. High. Standing by the concrete pillar was Daichi from Class 1-B, tossing a small stone between his hands. He looked up as we approached and waved us over.
"Hey! How was the first day of Heroics?" Daichi asked, falling into step beside us as we walked toward the train station. "We were stuck doing basic fitness tests all afternoon. 1-B is pretty boring so far."
Hiroki grinned, "Boring? Man, you missed it! Takeru and I had to go up against Todoroki Shoto. You know, Endeavor's son?"
Daichi stopped walking, looking at me with wide eyes. "For real? That guy is supposed to be the top prospect of our year. What happened?.
"He opened with a building-scale ice attack," I explained. "I used a refraction technique to shatter it then close the gap. Hiroki took out Shoji while I handled the capture on Todoroki."
Daichi whistled, "You took down the son of the Number Two Hero on day one? The 1-B group chat is going to lose it. Everyone's been talking about how Todoroki was the one to beat in Class 1A. You know he already has a reputation that he's gonna be super strong."
"He's strong, but he relies too much on raw output," I said. "He'll adapt. He doesn't look like the type to take a loss lightly. I expect he'll be much harder to deal with during the next session."
"Maybe," Daichi said, "But now everyone knows you're stronger. You know there's a guy called Neito Monoma in our class," he said with a laugh, "you just need to bad mouth Class 1A and you're already in his good friend list."
"Is that so... Monoma huh? Guess we'll see how good he is when there's a chance to compete." I said.
We reached the station and boarded the train. We spent the rest of the ride discussing the other quirks we'd seen. Hiroki kept the conversation lively, recounting how Kaminari had short-circuited himself, while Daichi filled us in on the personalities in Class 1-B. We reached our station and boarded off, then split off to our home.
I reached home and sure enough both mom and dad were at the agency. I ate the food made already on the table and went to lay down in my bed.
I unlocked my phone then saw there were tons of chats going on, I quickly went through them.
[GROUP CHAT: 1-A CLASS]
Kaminari: YO. Is everyone still here? Because my brain feels like it was fried in an air fryer.
Jiro: It always feels like that for you, Kaminari.
Kirishima: Man, today was SO MANLY. We finally got to use our quirks for real!
Sero: @Kazama bro, that move on the ice was legendary. I thought the whole building was going to collapse.
Ashido: Right?! Shoto-kun looked so shocked. I didn't think anyone could touch him like that.
Uraraka: It was amazing! I was so worried about the ice, but then Kazama-kun just made it disappear! (Hope Izuku-kun didn't hurt himself too much.)
Asui: It was very impressive, kero.
Yaoyorozu: I agree. Your ability to neutralize an opponent's Quirk while simultaneously storing that energy for a counter-offensive is a highly sophisticated combat strategy.
Tokoyami: A display of pure power. The abyss of that ice was eclipsed by your light.
Midoriya: I saw the footage from Recovery Girl's office! Kazama-kun, Hiroki-kun, that was incredible! I have so many notes to take on how you handled the thermal shift!
Kaminari: Midoriya! You alive?
Midoriya: Yeah, just resting up. I'll be back tomorrow!
Aoyama: My brilliance was simply too much for the cameras to capture properly, wasn't it?
Kaminari: Kazama is lowkey a raid boss. How did you even do that?
Ojiro: It was the vibration, right? I could feel the floor shaking even from the observation room.
Kazama: My quirk is Aether Pulse. Basically, I absorb the energy from attacks (kinetic, thermal, etc.), store it, and can pulse it back out. Against Shoto-san, I just drained the energy of the ice and converted the energy to a shock wave to shatter them.
Jiro: So you basically can throw back whatever energy a villain throws at you.
Kazama: In a few words, yes.
Kirishima: THAT IS SO MANLY! You used his own power against him!.
Iida: Everyone! Please remember to maintain a professional tone! We represent U.A. High!
Bakugo: SHUT UP FOUR-EYES. AND YOU, ENERGY FREAK. DON'T THINK THAT LUCK IS GONNA LAST.
Kazama: don't think it was luck, Bakugo.
Bakugo: DIE.
[GROUP CHAT: CLASS 1-B]
Monoma: HA! I HAVE HEARD THE GLORIOUS NEWS!
Kendo: Here he goes... Sigh... Monoma, be quiet. We're all in the same school.
Monoma: The "prestigious" Class 1-A has already shown its cracks! Their recommended student, the great Shoto Todoroki, son of the number two hero was defeated on the very first class of hero study!
Daichi: My friend Kazama took him down. I told you guys he was the real deal. We've been training together for years.
Tetsutetsu: He has an energy quirk, right? Daichi, can he absorb physical punches too?
Daichi: Anything with energy. Kinetic energy is a thing, Tetsutetsu. If you punch him, you might just be giving him more ammo.
Monoma: If he's your friend, Daichi, tell him to transfer to 1-B where he belongs! We'll show him true greatness!
Kendo: Monoma, stop trying to steal 1-A's students.
Daichi: Good luck with that.
[PRIVATE CHAT: The Boys]
Hiroki: Yo! Daichi, Monoma is still going off in your chat isn't he?
Daichi: Bro, he's literally vibrating with excitement. He thinks Kazama's win is a win for the "underdogs" in 1-B lol.
Kazama: I'm not an underdog.
Daichi: I know that, but try telling him. I told them we've been friends for a while so they're all asking me for your stats now.
Hiroki: Don't tell them everything! We gotta keep the secret weapons secret!
Kazama: It doesn't matter if they know. Knowing is one thing and doing something about is another, I'm not gonna lose to anyone.
Daichi: Facts. Anyway, I'm out. Parents are
home. See ya tomorrow.
Hiroki: Peace.
Kazama: Later.

A/N:
Sorry I couldn't update any chapters recently, my mom got hospitalized and underwent surgery so I couldn't focus on anything. Thanks to God she is fine now, the surgery is done and she's back home recovering.
I'll try to upload 3-4 chapters per week if situation allows.
