Evelyn's POV
The celebration lasted for almost another hour.
No one seemed eager to leave. Small groups remained scattered across the ballroom, laughing over desserts and finishing conversations that had begun long before the engagement ceremony.
Gradually, however, the evening began winding down.
One family after another walked toward Richard and Victor, offering their congratulations before collecting their coats and preparing to leave.
The orchestra had stopped playing.
Soft instrumental music now drifted through hidden speakers, filling the ballroom with a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.
The excitement of the evening had slowly settled into comfortable conversation.
I stood beside one of the tall windows, watching guests make their way toward the exit.
For the first time all night, I allowed myself to breathe without constantly wondering who might ask another question.
"They're finally leaving."
Liora appeared beside me carrying two glasses of juice.
