Aunt Zhao knew her son well, so she hurried him along with a smile.
"Hurry back, now. It'll be Jiaojiao and her husband's turn soon."
Zhao Tiezhu agreed and hurried off with the flatbed cart.
Aunt Zhao headed back as well.
Leng Yuan stood beside Gu Jiaojiao, watching as she ate the chestnuts, her face a picture of contentment.
"Where did you get these chestnuts?"
"They're on the mountain, just a little deeper in. If you like them, I'll go pick some for you next time."
Leng Yuan wasn't particularly fond of such things, so he rarely went to pick them.
Hearing this, Gu Jiaojiao's face immediately lit up. "Take me with you! Many hands make light work, and we can pick even more."
Leng Yuan had his doubts about that statement.
But since his wife wanted to go, he would naturally have to make it happen.
Gu Jiaojiao smiled in satisfaction, already thinking about making chicken with chestnuts.
