Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: I Don't Owe You Money

With that, Peach peeked through the crack in the door at the man inside.

'Oh my god, he's so, so handsome.'

'If her LoriaLaura and this handsome guy actually did something... it wouldn't be a loss for her.'

Laura Lowell pulled Peach into the apartment, grabbing a pair of slippers from the entryway to put on.

She walked over to the living room sofa and sat down, patting her chest like a survivor of a catastrophe. "Peach, I swear, no matter the occasion, I am absolutely never drinking again. That was terrifying."

"LoriaLaura, you don't actually have to blame yourself. That guy from across the hall is drop-dead gorgeous. If you two really did get intimate, it's not like you'd be getting the short end of the stick."

"You silly girl. We didn't do anything. We just slept separately."

"Oh. Well, that's a real shame," Peach said, looking a little disappointed.

"You haven't even finished developing, and you have the nerve to say it's a shame."

Laura Lowell gave a resigned smile, took the paper bag from Peach's hands, and went into the dining room.

Peach followed behind, indignantly defending herself. "Who hasn't finished developing? I have everything I'm supposed to, okay? And I'm plenty stacked."

"Shameless."

"I am not!"

Although Peach was Laura Lowell's assistant, Laura Lowell treated her like her own little sister, always looking out for her.

That was why Peach could speak her mind so freely and without restraint.

After breakfast, Laura Lowell returned to her bedroom, took a warm shower, and changed into some clean, comfortable loungewear.

Her manager, Jolene Joyce, had told her to rest up at home for a few days, explaining that things would get busy soon with the promotional tour for her movie.

When Laura Lowell came out of her bedroom, Zachary Redgrave had come over and was sitting on the sofa, his expression dark and stormy.

"Why the sour face? It's not like I owe you money."

Laura Lowell dried her dripping hair with a towel as she sat down cross-legged on the sofa.

"Laura Lowell, you've really got some nerve. Weren't you worried about your chastity?"

Zachary Redgrave bit out each word through gritted teeth.

Nearby, Peach offered an innocent smile. She had just let it slip by accident.

'If anyone was to blame, it was the guy from across the hall for being too handsome. Just one glance had completely filled her thoughts with his image.'

'With him on her mind, the words had just tumbled out on their own.'

"Nothing happened. My chastity is intact, so you can relax."

Laura Lowell brushed him off with a nonchalant reply.

"If you fucking dare to drink like that again, you better believe I'll break your legs!"

Zachary Redgrave glared at Laura Lowell, his temper flaring. It was a roar that came from the very depths of his soul.

Laura Lowell just smiled resignedly. 'This best friend of mine... *sigh*... He's just like my parents, always nagging.'

"You seem pretty free today. Why don't we call Hannah Hale and the three of us can grab a big lunch?"

Seeing the way he looked like he was about to eat her alive, Laura Lowell quickly changed the subject.

Actually, Zachary Redgrave had already called Hannah Hale on his way over about the three of them having lunch, but she was too busy to get away.

"Her department's been swamped lately. It's just one surgery after another."

Hannah Hale was a neurosurgeon at Sudglen Central Hospital. Laura Lowell and Zachary Redgrave were both in the entertainment industry, and they were both doing quite well for themselves.

Especially Zachary Redgrave; with that devilishly handsome face of his, he had captivated countless people.

The three of them were as thick as thieves—the kind of friends who would take a knife for one another, their bond unbreakable.

........

As evening fell, Laura Lowell suddenly came down with a fever. Her whole body was burning up, and the wound on her arm was both painful and itchy.
