Ignoring the two adults who were still talking, the baby reached out and offered the toy in his hands to Clara Grant. Clara took it, looking at it quizzically. "What's this, sweetie?" she asked.
The baby was overjoyed when she took it. He pointed at the cake and babbled, "Eee... cakey..."
Sierra Sutton immediately understood his son. He explained to Clara, "That's his favorite toy. He's giving it to you so you'll stay and eat cake with him."
Clara Grant couldn't help but laugh. "Sweetie, are you sure you're only one? How does your little head come up with all this? And since you're being so earnest, how could I possibly say no to your invitation to eat cake?"
With that, she picked up the baby, placed him on the sofa, and started opening the cake box. "Come on, let's eat some cake and celebrate the birthday boy's big day."
