Aunt Jocelyn rubbed her nose awkwardly. "Ah." He came back just like that, without a single word. What kind of person was that?
Seraphina Adler and Titus Shaw arrived at the Adler family home.
Mr. and Mrs. Adler exchanged bewildered glances. "Seraphina, who is this...?"
Seraphina recounted everything from the beginning. Her parents' hearts pounded wildly as they listened.
"Seraphina," Mrs. Adler said, "how many people saw you come back with him? What will the neighbors say about us?"
"People will talk no matter what," Seraphina replied. "Let them say what they want."
"This is my fault for not fulfilling my promise sooner," Titus said. "If anyone asks, just tell them I'm a new man Seraphina recently found. That should keep the gossip to a minimum."
Mr. and Mrs. Adler thought this was a viable excuse. Lucas Lee had run away, and they couldn't expect their daughter to remain a grass widow forever.
"When should we host the wedding banquet?" they asked.
