Morning arrived with a damp, gentle breeze that brushed against the glass windows, kept firmly at bay outside.
Cecilia Adler woke from her sleep. When she opened her eyes, she noticed an unfamiliar woman in the room alongside the old madam and Titus Shaw.
She had a very kind and friendly face.
"Cecilia, you're awake."
"When did you all get here?" Cecilia glanced at the time. To her surprise, it was already half past seven.
"Your father came over as soon as the sun came up. This is Aunt Lowe, the caretaker he hired. She'll be specifically in charge of your meals and nursing you back to health."
Hearing this, Cecilia greeted her, "Hello, Aunt Lowe."
"Oh, hello! You look just like your father," Aunt Lowe said with a beaming smile.
"A lot of people say that," Cecilia replied, changing the subject. "I'd like to take a bath."
"Let's wait until noon," Aunt Lowe chimed in. "It'll be warmer then. I'll go to the kitchen and bring you your breakfast."
