With a loud shout from Shen Hui, Xu Changqing saw that the horse-drawn carriage at the main gate hadn't even come to a full stop before the brothers and sisters of the Old Shen Family all poured out in a rush.
One person called her "sis," another called her "Xiao Hui." It was incredibly lively. Even the two sturdy-looking little boys who came back with Shen Hui were whisked out of the carriage by the crowd.
One person was telling the boys to call him "uncle," another telling them to call her "auntie." The procession of relatives, from eldest to youngest—first uncle, first auntie, second uncle, second cousin-auntie—left the two young nephews completely bewildered.
"Are Grandpa and Grandma still in their usual spot?" Shen Hui ditched her two kids and immediately grabbed hold of Xu Changqing. "You've been using a lot of bleach, I see. You're the palest one here."
