Chapter 80 - The First Reprisals

Viewpoint: Hérèse

go home.

This day had already been very long; I had exceeded the number of social interactions I was able to tolerate without seriously considering changing schools.

Between the students who saw me as a savior, those who seemed to approach me but were just eyeing Maëva,

I still feel nostalgic for the time when nobody knew my name.

But where everyone was hitting you

Her laughter echoed in my head.

It's her again.

Even the toilets in this school oppress me.

BEE BEE BEE

the bell that announces the end of this tortoise.

Word for word, I'm going back without hesitation.

But luckily the door to our classroom was locked

The vice-major and his majestic major advanced towards the painting.

Enough is enough…

I simply sat my buttocks against the desk and picked up my bag.

– Mandatory meeting after classes. All absences must be justified.

– Announcement from the math teacher: we have chapters to catch up on, we're already behind

I strained my ears again to hear the announcement clearly, but my face remained incredulous.

I'm not going to stay.

– we're going to play the sick man

Have I repeated myself?

Bad idea, brainless, François is nearsighted but not stupid.

– who asked for your opinion

My voice became small; I simply moved my lips.

Maëva looked at me as if I were one of her budding patients

– hun!

I gave him a look devoid of enthusiasm before continuing my internal dialogue.

But Jack also had something to add.

– You'd better take our proposal seriously.

I slow down slightly.

– Are you also going to give me advice or threaten me?

– I'm just warning you, after all I'm just a subordinate now

His tone had changed.

He retreated onto his table like a beaten dog.

Absolutely beaten.

my curiosity.

– Were they the ones who beat you up?

Jack hesitated, then ran a hand over his face before wincing when his fingers brushed against his eyebrow.

– we represent nothing to them, there are several groups among the students and those outside even if some control access to the fights.

The most interesting ones are just looking to take down the weak, the richest, their neighborhood, and their supply networks.

– I just forgot to pay my rent.

Jack added at the end

I almost burst out laughing.

– Is that why you choose your own class times? Does the school actually allow that kind of thing?

He just rolled his eyes

– he's really unplugged

Maëva burst out laughing, and I refrained from asking her if she planned to continue making fun of me until the end of the year.

"At least he's honest," she remarked.

Jack gave him a sly smile.

We were stuck in the classroom for a few minutes before the makeup exams.

The students moved around in groups, sitting between the same idiot , while the twins circulated between the rows, discussing with an enthusiasm that would have been more appropriate for preparing for a festival than for a surprise test.

They arranged to take the seats behind Jack when the major's gang also moved.

– Hérèse!

I turned around.

Maëva grabbed me by the collar before I could leave my seat.

– Don't be impolite, Mr. Conqueror.

– Let go of me.

— So stay. I don't want someone unpleasant taking your place.

I gave her a murderous look, but she pushed me back in my seat.

A suspicious silence settled in.

No one seemed in a hurry to speak.

The twins exchanged a glance.

The tallest one raised his hand despite everything.

– We want the rules to be abolished altogether

His second hesitated a little but then raised his hand in turn

At least he wasn't asking for the moon.

The discussion descended into a total gang star frenzy.

I will refrain from giving my opinion

Maëva leaned towards me.

– And you? You're not saying anything.

– we should start to gather more and conquer the small plots.

I did not respond; she only intended to recruit naive people to satisfy her desire for conquest.

Silence

I hope they understand that I had no intention of participating in this charade, but this twin was even more determined than the "crazy" woman.

– Hérèse squeezed at the head

I'm going to kill them, I thought, before remembering that this solution risked further complicating an already disastrous situation.

As if you could kill

– always listening at the door

Hmm... If you say so.

But I intend to join their cause, it's going to be AWESOME, HAHAJAJAJJAJAJA

I clutched my chest and rested my head on the desk

– What is it?

Maëva asked me, I opened one eye but met a completely indifferent expression.

- Nothing.

– ok….

She barely replied and turned back again to organize their counter-attack.

YOU ARE PATHETIC

That voice in my head murmured, the one that never failed to encourage me.
