Chapter 23 - Bad Judgment 4

(pov hérèse )

I stood pointed at the gate, crossing my fingers for a miracle

"10:00," I murmured, glancing up from my watch.

– the fact that he is not there

Then I grab the door and turn it

 KR IIIIIIIIIIII!

The gate creaked, all along

– (only when I want to go incognito)

freezing me to the spot

– (I'm finished)

SILENCE~…

2, 3.5 seconds

Nobody showed up.

Is the surveillance really that lax?

So François is not at home

– YES!

Snapping my fingers

I go back inside and close the gate behind me.

I hurry off, heading towards the stairs that lead directly to my veranda.

I jump and climb, falling directly onto the veranda, I immediately duck, checking under the table,

Nothing

You never know

The place was far too clean to find you

– Haha! Where did I put that sheet of paper, damn it, I muttered to myself

Running a hand over my face

I let my bag slide down my back, almost dropping it on the floor, then I passed it over and left it on the table

– (My shoulder hurts from all these notebooks)

I go down to my room, onto my own terrace

"It's so nice to see you again," I murmured, my cheeks almost pink as I greeted my furniture and my bed.

(the neutral face)

Luckily my bay window was open; sleeping on a table wasn't comfortable.

I'm coming in.

I place my watch on my desk

I take off my shirt and fold it to the side.

I take off my pants and fold them to the side.

I score a strike with my shoes

And jumps on my bed in boxers and socks

– (very fresh) I thought, as I melted into my mattress

Curled up in the center, I pulled the sheets over myself, covering myself up to my head, and let myself be carried away by the sweet scent of lavender wafting from my sheets.

I almost let out a cry of joy, jumped up, and laughed under the covers.

10h30

Silence

The room returned to its usual calm.

11:30

Everything around was bustling and a few clicks reached the room, but that didn't seem enough to wake anyone up.

Sleep was deeply ingrained

13h40

Sleep was more than enough; was it recharging? Or just laziness? But the individual under those sheets didn't seem ready to hibernate.

And it wasn't mine, especially for the house, which didn't even suspect its presence.

14h10

A soft hum drifts into the house; almost all the maids rush in, opening and closing the gate behind the car.

Was it his brother?

His mother?

Or just the man he was running away from?

Because the silence that followed was not a good omen.

The noise had turned into a whisper in less than a second, and heavy but silent footsteps were approaching.

Tac! Tac! Tac !

The bay window slid to the side without being recalculated.

The individual entered as if at ease and even pulled up an armchair in which he sat, one foot on top of the other.

– hérèse

Murmured the hoarse but calm voice

– Hmmm… I'm tired~,

stretching under his sheets like a squirrel

– ( hein! ?)

I felt my soul reconnect to my body and the hairs on my back stand on end; my sleep also seemed to have fled, leaving me with no more excuses.

I grip the sheets and lower them gently

– HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!, a silent scream slipped from my throat, just a breath of air

My eyes widened.

"François? François? François?" I repeated, backing up in my bed.

On the other hand, François , for his part, remained calm. Settled in my armchair, he observed me without saying a word, his gaze neutral.

Which didn't really reassure me

"François?" I murmured much more softly.

Waiting for his reaction

"Hérèse ," he finally replied.

I paused and remained rooted to the spot, my head slightly bowed.

"You didn't warn me," he continued.

"I waited for you, I learned that you had shirked your duties," he sighed.

"No, no," I began, observing his face.

still as neutral

"I was sent home for forgetting to bring back my control sheet… Sign," I continued.

Regaining a good, stable and upright position

"I learned it," he said.

He paused

"And avoid deliberately getting average grades, you know your mother very well," he murmured.

I scratch the back of my head, feeling a little guilty.

"Yes, yes, I won't do it again," I said ironically.

François got up and turned the armchair back into place, he picked up my clothes and put my bag on the table before turning away

"Come eat," he ordered me.

– I will drive you to your PE class.

All my strength was leaving me

- (shit)
