Saitama spotted King standing there, glanced over curiously, and frowned slightly.
"Who's this guy? Why's he so brutally dead?"
King didn't hide anything. "He's the big boss behind the House of Evolution. Looks like one of the monsters he created killed him—what a pity."
Saitama nodded and kept walking. "Got it. Let's find that monster. I can feel it running away."
As he walked, Saitama's face changed—his simple, dull expression sharpening into something hard and angular.
He'd come here treating it like a game, never taking any of the House of Evolution's so-called monsters seriously.
But now, with a creature that cruelly slaughtered humans just ahead, Saitama's hero-for-fun heart ignited; playtime was over.
All he wanted now was to punch that monster into oblivion.
Seeing Saitama get serious, a bead of cold sweat slid down King's forehead. He wiped it away and hurried after him.
Even the faint killing intent leaking off Saitama screamed danger in every cell of King's body, as if death could strike at any second.
The gap between me and the Bald Demon King is insane… no wonder he's the only strongest in this world.
King refused to believe Dr. Genus was truly dead.
A sly old fox who can reverse aging and hide in the shadows wouldn't face the savage Carnage Kabuto with his real body unprepared.
Both men surged forward, red and yellow streaks of light racing through the dark corridor, reaching the training ground in the blink of an eye.
In the wide space, a three-to-four-metre-tall humanoid covered in ochre carapace hammered its fists against the lab gate—the weakest point.
Under its relentless blows, the metre-thick high-strength alloy door began to deform and loosen.
Carnage Kabuto grinned triumphantly at the buckling door.
"Think you can trap this lord? With only that gate left, escaping is child's play!"
Suddenly it froze, sensing something, terror flashing in its eyes.
Rigid with dread, it shakily turned toward the corridor.
There, a tall blond man and a bald guy in yellow tights stepped into the training ground… Z-City outskirts, a desolate wilderness.
A hundred-metre-tall tree stood there, its trunk twisted into a spiral opening.
Inside lay high-tech instruments; countless pipes converged on a central tank of green nutrient fluid.
Glass shattered, fluid gushed everywhere, and a slim black-haired youth with long bangs stepped out.
His eyes glazed briefly, then he clenched his fists as memory fragments flooded back.
"Damn Carnage Kabuto—actually killed me. Good thing I had cloned bodies stashed, or I'd really be dead."
The youth was Dr. Genus, revived. A gene expert, he'd never settle for crude clones.
By harvesting his own genes long-term, he'd grown spare bodies; when his original died, his mind jumped to one at random.
He'd set up four such revival points across Z-City.
The catch: mind and body had to sync, so the range couldn't exceed city limits.
Dr. Genus took prepared glasses from a table, wiped them, and donned a white coat.
Carnage Kabuto really was a failed creation… Without my control, it's probably broken out of the House of Evolution. For a moment, I hoped the two intruders would kill it.
That would at least stop a massacre outside.
"Only five kilometres from the House of Evolution. I have to investigate. If those two fail, I'll re-contain Carnage Kabuto myself!"
The House of Evolution held special countermeasures only his master clearance could activate.
To Dr. Genus, if Carnage Kabuto rampaged unchecked, it could destroy the world.
"Eee!!"
The creature deemed world-ending by Dr. Genus shrieked in terror, wings beating frantically as it cowered in a corner.
Thunderous heartbeats echoed in its ultra-keen ears like rolling drums.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!!!
Carnage Kabuto felt sure it would die the next second; any will to fight was gone.
In its insect senses, the blond man on the left blazed like a god, blood-qi roaring like oceans, heartbeats like thunder.
The bald man on the right looked fragile, yet every time it aimed even a shred of killing intent at him, death flashed before its eyes.
What's the point of fighting this?!!
