Chapter 2 - is luck hereditary?

"Well, if that isn't a warm welcome." a voice echoed, all alone in the entrance of an empty church, sun in his back. A young man, maybe 18, or 17?

He walked deeper in, until reaching the altar. ``do they think I didn't see the strangely quiet bugs? I might as well act like I didn't see these familiars then.`` he thought.

"Sarcasm is unbecoming of one like you." a priest said as he walked in, before continuing "You were chosen because of your ancestor's deeds and your natural talent, act accordingly."

The boy sighed, then answered "sorry, but you're the third to tell me that this week. Also, I don't remember agreeing to anything. the Templar were disbanded for good, their souls rest in heaven where it should. I came here to tell you that I refuse to be part of your little order of the temple 2.0"

The priest didn't seem phased by it at all "unfortunatly, the Archbishop was very clear that he wanted the descendants of the previous order to form the first generation of the new one. As much as I loath this clear show of nepotism, the fact that you are a genius only makes you even more fit to be a knight of this new order."

The boy let out a little"tsk..." then retorted back "got it. I'm smart, I'm a former Templar's descendant. And you know what? I don't care. I have school, work, and other things to do right now, I'm not gonna run away to Europe to go saving the faithful, heretic hunting, or whatever the Church want."

the priest's eyes narrowed "Very well. However, what if I were to tell you that we can help you find a cure to your friend's 'illness'...?"

The boy stayed silent for a moment, then "the hell are we waiting for? The airport isn't opened 24/7."
