Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The End

Eyes on the large bed of a young girl opened. Her hair was messy and she could barely open her eyes.

It was early in the morning but she rarely wakes up early. Due to her first time trying magic, she depleted her mana and fainted almost immediately after her first spell was cast.

When she crawled out of bed, she stood up and slowly made her way to the bathroom to wash her face.

She opened the door and entered. She washed her face and teeth. She also tried moving her hair around to fix it, but ultimately gave up after a few seconds.

What should I do today?

The thought drifted lazily through her brain until she had an idea of what she was going to do.

She looked both ways before exiting the bathroom then quietly crawled over to the stairs and tried her hardest to go down without making a sound.

Each step was as quiet as a mouse. When near the bottom she turned and saw her mother on the couch humming and drinking tea with a book in front of her.

Arius stepped out of the stairs and started crawling to the kitchen hiding behind objects.

She turned and saw her mother reading the book she had seen earlier.

She stood up and tried climbing the counter to reach the top drawer. The hair on her head swayed left and right when climbing up.

She reached the top and mustered everything in herself to open the drawer without a single squeak.

When she did, there was the treasure she was searching for. She took it and closed the drawer covering the evidence that she was ever there.

She got down and crawled over to the stairs and back up with her mother still reading.

"Heh, didn't know she could wake up early" A smile grew on Elantra's face.

Arius entered a room on the far corner of where the stairs end. Inside it was far bigger than it seemed. There were shelves upon shelves of books and dozens of rolling ladders of varying sizes.

Although there were hundreds if not thousands of books there was only one Arius sought.

It was a book of the First war. The cover was black with a marking unknown to Arius. It had silver markings that made a rectangle and corners. In the middle of the silver rectangle and the corners was a red gem. The words on the cover read "The End".

Arius opened the treasure and took something out of it. It was a small ball of pinkish red that had a sweet flavor of strawberry and other things Arius didn't know of. After eating one she opened the book and started reading it.

——

It was said at the beginning of time there was the Darkest One and "His" siblings. They were the Primodials. The oldest and wisest of all beings.

There were many such as Time, Fate, Creation, Chaos, Life, and many more. History does not remember what the Darkest One represented but it does remember "He's" strength.

The Primodials ruled everything together. They each had their own domains and creations that were made from the primordial of Creation.

Everything and everyone was in harmony. Until a question arose. It was a simple but horrifying question for the Darkest One, one about "His" very being.

To answer this question "He" went to the Primordial of Time and Fate. "He" asked "His" two siblings the question but none could answer it. "They" could not look into a being such as "Him".

This slightly angered "Him". So "He" searched everywhere for the answer. "He" moved to all parts of reality but couldn't find it.

Some of "His" siblings checked in on "Him" to make sure nothing bad would happen and to keep him company but "He" would just push "Them" away.

Nothing could answer it so "He" started angrily doing experiments on the creations of "His" sibling to find an answer.

The experiments twisted and killed many, which has caused the birth of many evil creatures. It angered Creation but it wanted to keep the peace so it kept quiet.

The breaking point of the Darkest One was when "He" had finally learned all there was but still had no answer. It angered "His" very core to where everything and everyone could sense it.

After this breaking point "He" started a war, a war so great that every realm and even reality itself had to endure it. Every being thought it was the end of all things.

With the twisted monsters "He" sent them to exterminate and eradicate every living being. This crusade of course brought the attention of "His" siblings who were forced to act.

Many tried to reason with "Him" but "He" would not listen. So "they" had no choice but to put down "their" brother.

There was only one line in the entire book where words were spoken, as it was the one line history remembered from the war, it was an apology from a forgotten primordial. One that was said to be the closest to the Darkest One and a true companion.

Almost everything about this primordial was forgotten. Historians debate whether "He" or "She" even existed. This primordial doesn't exist in many versions of the story. But in all the accounts where this primordial did exist what is known is that "He or "She was beside the Dariest One until "His" descent into madness.

Since the beginning, this primordial has helped and accompanied the Darkest One. The primordial was there when "He" sought the answer from two of "His" siblings and when "He" scavenged reality for it.

The primordial begged the Darkest One to stop when "He" was conducting "His" experiments but ultimately couldn't stop it and had to leave.

The apology was spoken after the Darkest One had to dreadfully kill the one closest to "Him" in "His" madness.

The apology that came out of the forgotten primordial was "My brother I am truly sorry I couldn't stop you from going down this path of self-destruction. Hopefully, your madness will end so the world can recover. And to all those poor souls who were corrupted in your blindness, I am truly sorry I couldn't do anything to ease your suffering. I trust my brothers and sisters to give you all, even you brother, peace in the end.

They say the forgotten primordial died regretful and sorrowful. But "He" or "She" did the most damage to weaken the Darkest One.

In "His" slaughter he killed not only most of all living beings but also "His" siblings. When "They" tried to stop and put "Him" down most of "Them" died.

No one knows how many primordials there were before the war. There could have been dozens, hundreds, or even thousands, but what historians do know is that the Darkest One killed most to where they debate how many survived with the leading theory being lower than 12.

Before most of "Them" died fighting "Him" and others just being in "His" way. "They" tried all kinds of things such as trapping "Him" in a loop, cutting "His" fate thread, and even facing the Darkest One head-on.

Due to the Darkest Ones' army and "Himself" killing everyone wherever they marched, the primordials had to seal off many places. One such place was the domain of the primordial of Sky, which was the Heavens.

What finally stopped the Darkest One was something all the primordials who were alive built together. They had a secret meeting in the Heavens, making a last-ditch plan to stop the Darkest One.

One of the primordials brought a piece of another realm with "Them". It cost "Him" or "Her" almost everything to get it. It was a piece from the realm of the Divine Forge.

With it, they started building the ultimate weapon. Creation shaped it, and the others poured everything they had into it. What came out was a group of men and women.

They made a group of 7 that had the sole purpose of defeating the Darkest One. They each represented a heavenly virtue. Humility, Charity, Kindness, Chastity, Diligence, Temperance, and Patience. They were the 7 lights. These were the seven who fought against the end of all things.

They each had their own titles, Humility who was the leader had The Nameless One, the healer Charity had The Healer of Hearts, Temperence was the stratagist with the title Silver Chain, Diligence was their warrior who was titled The Endless Blade, Kindess was the one who sought peace with the title The Gentle Voice, Chasity was their saint with the title The Crystal Saint, and lastly was Patience who collected relics with the name The Silent Pilgrim.

All seven of these legendary heroes and the primordials who were still alive all went against the Darkest One when "His" army marched and broke their way into the heavens.

Historians and priests say that the Darkest One overpowered every defense and primordial sent "His" way until the very end where a trap finally worked.

The very few primordials left made a mini realm where they trapped the Darkest One in and used every power they had to kill "Him".

All the legendary heroes and primordials attacked at the same time. The only attack historians absolutely know happened was a black mist of pure death. The only way the legendary heroes survived was with a shield that the Crystal Saint had that made a barrier.

The rest of the fight is unknown but they managed to defeat and kill "Him". "His" forces dispersed with the majority dying.

In honor of the legendary hero's saving the heavens the primordial of Sky divided and named the parts of the heavens all the heavenly virtues.

They were awarded with many things, exactly what no one knows. The primordials afterward recovered and rebuilt eventually making the world we know now.

And as for the heroes, no one knows what happened to them or if any of this is even real.

And for the parts where no one knows what happened, the book Arius is reading is filled with fake parts about what happened.

This is the bedtime story Arius has been told thousands of times.

Downstairs an old witch got curious and got up. She moved towards the stairs and got to the top. She moves towards a door leading to a library.

She opened and what lay before her eyes was a sleeping child with white hair and pinkish-red colors surrounding her mouth.
