Chapter 59 Inner Courtyard
Deng Mu sat on the edge of the bed, subconsciously raising his hand to touch the cheek he had been kissed on. The warm touch seemed to linger, impossible to shake off.
Looking at Wang Dong, Deng Mu sighed, helped Wang Dong take off his school uniform, and went to the public bathroom to shower.
After a quick rinse in the bathroom, Deng Mu returned to his dormitory to sleep. Just as Deng Mu lay down on the bed, lost in thought, he felt Wang Dong turn over in his sleep, then an arm draped over him, tightly hugging him like a pillow.
He stiffened instantly, turning his head to look at Wang Dong's face, still slightly flushed in his sleep, and shook his head helplessly.
"Goodnight."
The next day, morning.
Sunlight streamed into the dormitory through the cracks in the window, gently falling on Deng Mu and Wang Dong.
Deng Mu woke up first, and the moment he opened his eyes, a flood of chaotic memories from the previous night rushed back.
He subconsciously glanced at Wang Dong, who was still tightly hugging him. She was still fast asleep, the blush on her face had faded somewhat, and she looked exceptionally serene.
He gently shifted his body, trying to break free from Wang Dong's embrace, but this slight movement caused her to frown in her sleep, muttering a few unintelligible words, though her arms didn't loosen.
Deng Mu, helpless, had no choice but to give up for the time being.
After a while, Wang Dong groggily woke up.
She opened her eyes groggily, her gaze still somewhat hazy, before gradually focusing and recognizing Deng Mu before her.
She was startled at first, seemingly recalling some fragments of the previous night, and a blush instantly spread across her face.
Then, as if realizing she was still tightly hugging Deng Mu, she quickly let go and somewhat flusteredly moved to the edge of the bed.
Wang Dong opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but didn't know where to begin. She felt both embarrassed and shy, and could only lower her head, avoiding Deng Mu's eyes.
Deng Mu, seeing Wang Dong's expression, chuckled and said, "Wang Dong, what's wrong? Remembering what happened last night?"
Hearing Deng Mu's words, Wang Dong's face turned even redder, and she buried her head even lower, her hands unconsciously clutching the corner of the blanket. She stammered, "I...I just remember drinking a lot of fruit wine, and then...and then I think I said some nonsense, nothing else...I don't remember anything else clearly."
She vaguely remembered revealing a girl's secret and impulsively kissing Deng Mu.
But she was too embarrassed to admit it, so she could only pretend to be clueless, hoping Deng Mu wouldn't take it too seriously, but her wildly beating heart wouldn't calm down.
Looking at Wang Dong's awkwardness, Deng Mu knew perfectly well that she probably remembered some crucial things but was too embarrassed to say them.
Not wanting to embarrass Wang Dong, Deng Mu waved his hand with a smile and said, "Hey, it's nothing. Everyone had a great time yesterday, it's normal to say a few silly things after drinking too much. But you need to work on your alcohol tolerance, you were so drunk yesterday, it really scared me."
With that, Deng Mu got up and started packing his things, preparing to report to the inner courtyard later.
While packing, Deng Mu casually added, "But some things, whether they're nonsense or not, once they've been said, I take them seriously. Don't feel too guilty."
Hearing this, Wang Dong's heart skipped a beat. He secretly glanced at Deng Mu's back, feeling increasingly uneasy, wondering if Deng Mu was genuinely indifferent or deliberately testing him.
The dormitory was eerily quiet, with only the occasional soft sounds of Deng Mu tidying up his belongings.
Wang Dong gripped the corner of the blanket so tightly that her knuckles turned white. She opened her mouth, trying to break the deadlock, but something seemed to choke her throat, and she swallowed the words back.
Deng Mu finished packing his things, turned slightly to look at Wang Dong, who was still sitting blankly on the bed, his face still bearing that warm smile, and said softly, "Don't just stand there daydreaming, get up and wash up, you still have a lot to do today."
Hearing Deng Mu's words, Wang Dong seemed to snap out of her daze. She softly responded with an "Mmm," her voice carrying a hint of barely concealed panic.
Hearing Wang Dong's response, Deng Mu turned and left the dormitory. The soft sound of the door closing echoed in the quiet corridor, but seemed to strike Wang Dong's heart heavily.
She sat there for a while, took a deep breath, slowly got up, grabbed her toiletries, and went to the communal washroom.
While washing up, she looked at her flushed face in the mirror, her mind replaying every moment she had spent with Deng Mu recently.
She knew that her feelings for Deng Mu, after yesterday's impulsive act while drunk, seemed to have become clearer and harder to suppress.
Meanwhile, Deng Mu found the teacher in charge of registration and politely handed over his relevant documents.
The teacher took the documents, carefully checked the information, and then began explaining the procedures and precautions to Deng Mu.
After completing the registration procedures, Deng Mu received his new dormitory key and inner court uniform.
He stored these items in his storage soul tool and headed towards the dormitory area.
He was curious about what the inner court dormitories would be like; from fanfiction, they were usually depicted as small villas.
Thinking about it, it was quite possible, but he wouldn't know until he arrived.
After walking for a while, he arrived at the inner court dormitory area. Deng Mu looked up and saw rows of neat buildings standing before him.
These dormitories had a unique architectural style, looking both exquisite and grand, quite different from the outer court dormitories.
Thinking back to his own dormitory in the outer court, he sighed, "It's like heaven and earth!" He guessed the cafeteria there must be far superior.
Deng Mu found his assigned dormitory, took out his key, and opened the door.
Stepping inside, he was immediately struck by its spaciousness and warm, comfortable decor.
The living room was furnished with a soft sofa and coffee table, and a small bookshelf with some basic study materials.
The bedroom featured a large bed with brand-new, clean bedding, and a wardrobe with ample storage space for clothes.
"Not bad. If Wang Dong knew, he'd be incredibly envious," Deng Mu nodded in satisfaction, muttering to himself.
Wang Dong had been complaining to him about the dormitory being terrible and that he wanted to live in a detached house someday.
He began organizing his belongings, putting away the school uniform and other items he had received from the registration office.
Taking off his school uniform, Deng Mu changed into the inner academy's uniform.
In terms of material, the inner academy's uniform far surpassed the outer academy's, not to mention other aspects.
