Finally left alone, not that i didn't like Soso's company. I'm more comfortable when every action of mine isn't judged or scene as a cover for something else.
I really can't praise my new senses enough, I could see more, hear more, feel more. It was just magical.
And with these hyper senses I could clearly feel that Soso was judging my actions and reactions for something. Thankfully, I stopped feeling like that the moment I told her my advice.
Guess she got her impression on me. ' Hopefully it's a good one. '
Looking at the ever blue sky that looked like it was infinitely expanding, a realization hit me straight in the face. I haven't checked the storage skill, not even once.
I checked the map skill when I was training in the clearing back home, just to see what kind of features it had, safe to say, it was overpowered in it's own way.
But the Storage skill, i had completely forgotten about it. ' Well, nothing like the present as they say. '
When I thought of calling out my Storage space, a white dot appeared in front of me.
The next second, it started rapidly expanding. It was like rewriting reality into this ultra white background.
It expanded to what I could tell is about 3 meters in every direction, creating this completely empty sphere around me.
Looking around, I spotted what looked like a multi colored, egg? " Guess empty is a wrong description. "
Picking it up and observing it revealed nothing, but the moment I concentrated on it, a holographic screen appeared in front of it.

Sure, I wasn't affected by my parents death like normal people would have, that didn't mean I wasn't angry or upset. Far from it, I contemplated multiple times on the off chance of tracking and killing the ones responsible for my dad's death. Alas, what could a 10 year old even do at that time.
In my momentary rage, I accidentally put too much strength on the egg and cracked it. Thank God it's actually what you're supposed to do, otherwise I would have been eating spirit animal scrambled eggs by now.

I was a cat lover if you didn't notice already.
" Meow. " It responded like it understood what I said, then got closer to my neck and started purring and licking my cheek.
" Hehe, you're the most well behaved cat I've ever seen. " I said while stroking its back.
The blissful atmosphere was broken by the sound of someone stomping their feet, looking up it turned out to be Soso heading towards me, her head lowered.
' Bet she's embarrassed from earlier after she thanked me and sprinting away, now she has to come back, haha. '
' Wonder what she wants this time. ' I tried thinking for what reason has she come back.
' nevermind mind that, let's tease her anyway, hehe. ' I thought mischievously.
" Ehhh, Soso? Back so soon, want some more life changing advice? " I said, smiling broadly.
That's when her fuse lit. " NOT.ONE.MORE.WORD. " Clenching her hand that produced cracking noises. Glaring at me like the devil himself.
' Eeep, not the reaction I expected. Oh Lord please save your sinful but still faithful subject. ' Sweat started to fall for my temples, so i immediately started praying for some salvation.
But like a lit match to a bucket of water, her whole demeanor shifted into wonder and fascination the moment she saw the cat/kitten clinging to my neck.
" Aww, Yuseong. Where did you find this adorable little kitten. " She said, practically melting from the cat's cuteness.
Soso basically teleported next to me, observing the adorable little thing while It was licking my cheek.
' Dad was right, girls can be real scarry. But if you knew what made them happy it makes it so you could at least survive. He was a wise man. ' I thought, looking to the sky and giving my old man some prayer.
" C-Can I pet him/her? Just a little. " She asked, turning into what resembles a toddler asking for candy.
And who am I to decline the opportunity to get closer to Soso. ' This little one just turned into the greatest wingman to ever exist. '
" I will do you one better, here. Catch." I placed the cat in her arms, while it looked at Soso adorably.
" Who's the adorable little kitten, you are, you are. " She proceeded to play with him/her by rubbing it's stomach, it retaliating by play fighting with her fingers.
" Soo, why did you come back? Did you forget something? " I asked, seeing as her mood had gotten better.
" Hmm? Ahh, yeah. When I was going to get lunch before the next classes start, master Tho intercepted me and told me that the Head of the Academy is calling for you. " She said, immediately getting back to playing with the cat.
" Right, because of the fight and being late thing. " I said in realization.
" Say, is there still time for lunch break? my stomach is going to eat itself from hunger. " I asked.
" There's still like half an hour before classes, I was going to have lunch actually. If you want I could save a seat for you when you come back. " She said, holding the cat with one hand and brushing her hair to the side of her ear with the other.
" That would be great, and could you take him/her with you, I don't want to show up with a cat and get all questioned for it. " Getting punished for two things is already too much, I would rather not add another reason for more punishment.
" Thanks, you're the best. See you. " I sprinted Like the wind, disappearing the next moment.
I used the new technique, Flash step. And what a technique it was, the wind parted while the scenery changed rapidly.

Rubbing my forehead in frustration I continued to ask. " What was the fight like, did Yuseong use any special forms or techniques to win, was he acting abnormal by any chance? "
" The fight itself was pretty quick, Gihu didn't even get the chance to perform three moves before he was down for the count. All Yuseong used were basic moves, it was like watching his test happen a second time. He anticipated every move Gihu did, and his control over spiritual energy got better. " Said Tho, smiling while remembering the events of this morning.
" Hmm, he does have keen observational skills for- " I was interrupted before I could complete my line of thought.
" And when I asked him why he was late for the first day, he told me he was too excited to sleep so instead, he spent the whole night till morning trying to figure out how to better control his spiritual energy. Hahaha can you believe that, I myself thought he was joking until I saw the bags under his eyes, he actually spent the whole night training, not sleeping a wink. " Tho looked at me after he was done talking, expecting me to be surprised.

The visit to the Head's office went better than I ever thought it would, he actually looked kind of happy to see me. Privileges for being seen as a genius I guess.
I wasn't a dumb fuck like some anime protagonists who think overpowered abilities are the norm somehow. No, I knew from the beginning that my display of prowess would be recognized as a talent.
I wanted to make sure that I get the qualifications at the end of the year to actually enter the Murim Academy.
But of course, I didn't get to dodge the punishment, I had to do 500 more laps of duck walking.
Going to lunch with Soso felt nostalgic, like I was back at my college cafeteria.
The lesson afterward was just a basic rundown of the curriculum that we will be learning, it lasted about an hour.
Afterward, me and Soso and of of course Mimi, went to check up on Gihu.
And you might wonder, who's this Mimi?
It's the name Soso gave to the spirit cat I got from the spirit egg, she called her that because every time she scratched her chin she made this cute sound " mi~ mi~ "
And yes it's a her, she's female.
Back to visiting Gihu. He was all talk and bravado about waiting for him to get recovered and having a rematch, all for it to deflate once he heard he needed to do 500 laps of duck walk once he recovered.
Me and Soso laughed so hard at his reaction that we almost cried.
We talked like that for almost an hour, getting to know each other better. It was a surreal experience.
It felt refreshing to actually talk to people who aren't assessing your worth every couple of minutes, there was no teenage drama or out of nowhere random accusations.

We were eventually urged out by the infirmary's staff, so we said goodbye to Gihu and went out.
Walking along in a comfortable silence, Mimi perched on my shoulder. Enjoying the evening wind and the woshing sounds the bamboo shoots made.
We eventually reached the training grounds.
" Well, this is where we part ways. Thanks for tagging along, I want to check out the library before actually finishing my punishment. " I said, rubbing the back of my neck in embarrassment.
" Hehe, no worries. I literally live over there, make sure you actually sleep this time. " She snickered, pointing to the tower right next to the training grounds.

Looking at her retreating back, her red hair swaying from side to side until she exited the training grounds, I snapped back to focus.
" Wake up Yuseong, there are books to check out. " I slapped my cheeks like some anime girl and proceeded to go into the library.
My first impression, shabby as hell.
The 1% chance of the possibility of there being an ultra secret martial arts manual dropped to -9000% so fast.
Remembering something from memory and actually seeing it with your own eyes is vastly different.
' No matter, let's set a goal to read every book here by the end of the day. Maybe that might give me some spirit growth. ' I thought, cracking my neck in anticipation.
One thing I was truly proud of in my past life is: my reading and comprehension speed.
I could read a book of 100 pages in half an hour and retain every detail of it. It helped a lot when studying for my finals.

Before going through the reading part, I went and spent 15-20 minutes of assessing and categorizing what I'm about to read.
Reading randomly will only serve to confuse and slow me down.
After a thorough assessment, I managed to organize the bulk of the books into three main categories.
First and the one containing most books/ Manuals was, the five main martial arts paths of CheonBong Academy. It numbered to 86 books.
CheonBong Academy's five main martial arts paths are themselves divided into two categories.
Bare handed martial arts paths, which are:
- The Fist.
- The Palm.
- The Kick.
Weapon martial arts paths which are:
- The Sword.
- The Spear.
The Second category is about the known information about the Murim alliance and it's major supporters. This is the smallest category housing only 5 books.
The actual information known in these books isn't actually secretive or groundbreaking, you can find this information just by asking around, it's public in the martial society. In fact, you could say this information is outdated to what actually happens in the real world.
The last category contains some martial arts biographies and theories about Qi and the basics of anatomy. Pretty mild stuff, nothing groundbreaking.
It took me more than I actually anticipated to categorize the whole 137 books/manuals, some motherfucker thought it was a funny prank to organize the books by alphabet. ' I'll fucking twist that asshole's neck if I ever find him. '
" Ahhh, finally. Reading time. " By the the end of my organizing endeavor, I lost some enthusiasm for the reading part.
I first started with the smallest category, the second one. Not only was it smaller, it was easier to go through because I already had a plethora of facts about the Murim alliance from my inherited memories.
When I reached the fourth book, I gained an attribute to my spirit.

Falling into a trance, I started reading book after book, ignoring the two gained Spirit attributes after reaching 15 books.
By book 20 I was met with a notification that I greatly anticipated. It was for the acquisition of a new skill.

By the time I finished all the books, I didn't notice I was done. what confirmed the end of my trial was the system progress bar.

I'm not being ungrateful, it's just that... It's only been a day and a half and everything feels so new, so different.
Add a system that practically gives you a the equivalent of a line of cocaine to snort every 2 hours in the mix, and you'll HAVE to get overwhelmed.
Before this perks feature even showed up, I was thinking of what Attribute I should spend my 10 AP on.
But now that i think about it clearly, I've been pushing my self to get stronger but never actually once did I think to now how to control that strength.
So, advancing my strength and Agility attributes now is a stupid move. It will only make it harder for me to actually control it further down the line.
Looking at the parks the system presented me with, one of them would help greatly with my updated course of plan.
Two of them are a waste to even consider. The first, Unbreakable Will could simply be replicated by my resistance skill.
As for Dominating Presence, I'm not much of a show off to actually try and intimidate my enemies. Doing that will only serve to alert them of my strength.
That leaves me with the most useful kind of skill any warrior/martial artist worth their money would need.
Hyper Awareness, and if it does what I think it really advertises. It would be a great boon to my control training. ' And seeing as it has a star next to it, it's bound to be special in some way. '

The next moment, it was like something clicked in my mind. A new sense was unlocked, new and rapid information started flooding my head.
I thought I was gonna collapse from that overwhelming feeling. Wanting it to stop, I thought of deactivating it.
But the next second, that feeling started slowly fading away. So I held off on deactivating it, seeing as it was getting easier to handle by the minute.
And like that, I spent the next 5 minutes on the ground grunting and clenching my fists in pain.

Poor Mimi was meowing and liking my hand in worry after seeing my state.
While I was being mentally tortured, both my system and resistance skill were working in tandem to fix my state.
It first started with my resistance skill activating once it detected the harm.

The next 30 felt like a never ending carnival ride, I couldn't tell how much time has passed.
All I could do was curl up on ground, feeling the continuous cycle of pain and relief.
I contemplated multiple times ending my suffering and deactivating my perk. But that would only serve to be a temporary solution.
I would have eventually needed to go through this until my resistance was high enough.
And suddenly, like it never existed. The pain completely despaired. I did still feal lightheaded.
Sitting up, and reassuring the still worried Mimi. " It's okay, it was just some pain. "

Going back to the reason for all of this shit, hyper awareness. ' Why would the system present me a perk that is impossible to manage without having the skill resistance. ' I pondered.
Usually in games, perks are like passive skills without any side effects.
' It did have a star symbol right next to it, unlike the other two, does that have something to do with it?. ' I pondered. Another dilemma to solve about the system.
Now that I could activate it without feeling the mental strain, the awareness this perk had given me was absurd.
It felt like I could detect and observe things to their microscopic detail.
I wasn't actually using any of my senses, it was like a new sense has emerged combining all my existing senses into one separate major sense.
Even if I closed my eyes I could still feel and see my surroundings. It was hella trippy.
An accurate description for what it felt like to have this new sense is a combination of observation Haki from One Piece and an analyzing skill.
This was beyond my expectations, this won't just make my control training easier, it will forge me into a nightmare in one-on-one fights.
But I won't use it for just any fight, relying on it will only make me fight without instinct.
I am no expert but I know for a fact that instinct overpowers the senses. Too many movies/animes FORGED that belief in me.
' For now, I'll deactivate this perk. It's cool and all but it's weird to get used to. '
Looking around at the mess I made from squirming around on the ground, books thrown aside, a fallen shelf.
I sighed. " Thank God it was late and no one was around to see me having seizure after seizure and thinking I'm practicing some demonic arts. " I've read too many mangas to know that shit happens too often.
Looking outside the window, it was already night time. " No sword practice I guess. for now, I will complete that duck walk punishment and go home, this day has been hectic enough."

It didn't take long for Yuseong to finish his punishment, his stats were too high for the exercise to cause him any tiredness.
500 laps of duck walk finished just in the span of half an hour. A hellish exercise for most students in the academy, but a complete joke to Yuseong at his current strength.
" Damn, not even an attribute added for this. If I really need to advance in my stats, I'll need some heavy weights to put some stress on my body. " He speculated, sitting on the cold training ground.
" Maybe after I have a good control of my current strength though, advancing now would just be a reckless move. "
Looking around and up at the ever darkening sky that's starting to reveal it's sparkling Stars, a bold idea crossed his mind. " Why don't I try sensing Qi, I already feel like I could do it after having my new perk activated. "
And so, seeing as he still had some time before midnight, he sat in whatever comfortable position he could on the hard training grounds. " How do cultivators make it look easy to sit still on the ground for days on end, do they have steel tempered asses or what. " Yuseong grumbled.
" Foooew, gotta focus now. I already felt some energy floating around in the air when I had my perk activated. It felt like my Qi but more wild in a sense. " He said, holding his chin in deep thought.
Focusing back on his task, he activated his perk. ' Hmm, I'll never not be surprised by this feeling. Now what are you, you little sparkling dots. ' he thought, completely immersed in his observation.
' Not just the air, this energy is everywhere. ' whatever direction he looked, he could feel this energy. Be it the air around him, the ground, the plants, the insects, the water. It was literally everywhere.
What really peaked his interest was the variation this energy had in different things. ' What's making it change like that, it's like a completely different kind of energy depending on what you're looking at. ' thought Yuseong, giving his complete focus to the energy.
' Ever-changing, from light and fluffy in the air to dense and solid to the ground. Alive and full of breath in plants and nature to viscous and runny in the water. ' Yuseong felt like he was on the verge of discovering something entirely new, the true nature of spiritual energy.
Falling into a trance like state, he kept focusing on the spiritual energy. Following it's path as it changed it's properties from one kind to an other.
Eventually two new system notifications popped up, derailing his focus a little.
' hmm? '

' Surroundings... No, a vessel. It's not spiritual energy that's changing, it's the type of vessel that's changing the spiritual energy... ' And like a lock being unlocked, the instances of how spiritual energy changed from one vessel to another came back to him all at once.
And by opening that lock, he could enter the door. Entering that door revealed the truth or at least part of the truth of spiritual energy.
