Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: The Three-Man Team

"Does this doll have a story?" Myrcella asked.

"It does! Let me tell you the story of Snow White!"

Lancelot sat down beside a large tree, and Myrcella sat next to him.

Seemingly knowing that Lancelot told excellent stories, Arya, Bran, Sansa, and Tommen all gathered around.

"Once upon a time, there was a kingdom entirely covered in ice and snow. The kingdom was called the Snow Kingdom," Lancelot began.

"The King and Queen had a lovely daughter named Snow White. She had hair as black as ebony and skin as white as snow, perfectly smooth."

"Unfortunately, when Snow White was still little, the Queen died of illness."

"She lost her mother's love at a young age. And her father, from somewhere unknown, married a new Queen."

"The new Queen was young and beautiful. And she brought with her a dowry: a Magic Mirror."

"She hung the Magic Mirror on the wall. It could speak to people."

"The Queen often asked the mirror: 'Magic Mirror, Magic Mirror, who is the fairest of them all?'"

"The Magic Mirror would answer: 'It is you, my beautiful Queen. You are the fairest of them all!'"

"Whenever the Queen heard this answer, she would laugh with delight, 'Hehehe!'"

"But one day, when the Queen asked the Magic Mirror who was the fairest, the mirror said it was Snow White, who had grown up. She was now the most beautiful woman in the world."

Lancelot paused in his storytelling because he saw Cersei, Jaime, Catelyn, and others gathering around as well.

"You're all adults. Aren't you embarrassed to be listening to fairytales?" Lancelot teased.

"Go on, Lancelot. I want to know the final fate of Snow White and the Queen," Cersei said. She was surrounded by a flock of handmaidens, like stars around the moon.

"Alright!" Lancelot swallowed hard. He felt Cersei must have made some connection.

"Snow White was locked up by the Queen."

"Later, she sent a cook (huntsman in original, but Lancelot says cook) to kill her. But because he was moved by Snow White's kindness, the cook didn't kill her and instead went back and gave the Queen a false report."

"However, nothing escapes the eyes of the Magic Mirror."

"Later, the Queen sent a huntsman to kill Snow White, but she fled deep into the forest and temporarily escaped death."

"In the forest, the Princess met many dwarfs. Seven of them in total."

"Dwarfs? Like me? That's interesting! Hahaha!" Tyrion laughed.

"The dwarfs were hardworking; they loved gold and jewels and were skilled at mining."

"Under their protection, Snow White lived happily in the forest for a time."

"But the Queen felt uneasy knowing Snow White was still alive, so she went herself, disguised as an old woman selling apples."

"She brought a poisoned apple to Snow White's home. Using the excuse of asking for water, she gave the poisoned apple to Snow White."

"Snow White took just one bite of the apple and died. She lay on the ground, motionless."

"In the end, the dwarfs couldn't save her no matter what they tried. They planned to cremate her."

"Because they were afraid she'd turn into a wight at night, like Waymar Royce?" Aguda asked.

Lancelot shook his head. "Different."

"Just as Snow White was about to be cremated, a Prince riding a white horse and singing a song arrived. Because he rode a white horse, he was called Prince Charming."

"Prince Charming fell in love with Snow White at first sight. He bent down and kissed the Princess on the lips."

"At that moment, a miracle happened. The Princess woke up. From then on, the Princess and the Prince lived happily ever after," Lancelot concluded.

"The story is over."

"What happened to the Queen in the end?" Cersei asked.

"The King died, and she became the ruling Queen!" Lancelot said.

"Did she have an heir?" Cersei asked again.

"No!" Lancelot replied.

Cersei seemed shaken by Lancelot's ending. She stumbled backward, caught by Jaime Lannister.

"Cersei, are you alright?" he asked.

"It's just a fairytale! Don't take it seriously," Jaime reassured her.

"What does Snow White look like?" Myrcella asked, holding her doll.

"Just like the doll in your hand. But that's her as a child; she must be even more beautiful grown up," Lancelot said.

"Then who is prettier, me or Snow White?" Myrcella blinked her big eyes at Lancelot.

"Naturally, it's you! Snow White, though beautiful, is a character in a fairytale. You are real! Myrcella!"

Satisfied with Lancelot's answer, she flashed a brilliant smile.

At that moment, King Robert and Eddard Stark returned. They seemed to have received some news, as their faces were etched with worry.

Lancelot was surprised to see that King Robert had actually slimmed down significantly. He looked much more handsome than his previously pot-bellied self.

"Oh, Lancelot is back! Perfect timing, we have something to ask you. Come here!"

Robert called out to Lancelot.

And so, Robert, Eddard, and Lancelot formed a three-man team to discuss matters.

"Lancelot, we met the Green Men on the Isle of Faces. They are Children of the Forest. Although they have been isolated from those beyond the Wall for thousands of years, they communicate secretly using mystical methods."

"So, we have learned some information about the situation beyond the Wall," Eddard Stark said.

"And you? What did you gain from your trip to the Wall?" Robert asked.

"These are the records we compiled. They include damage reports for all the castles along the Wall, the feasibility of repairs, the manpower, resources, and money required, plus some inherent issues with the Wall itself."

"Some wildlings can climb over the Wall and enter the North. They only need simple tools: spikes, hooked boots, ropes," Lancelot explained.

"As for the most important thing, it's inside the black coffin I brought back. Let's wait until we return to King's Landing to open it. I guarantee whoever sees it won't be able to sleep! Hahaha!" Lancelot laughed.

"Your smile seems a bit off, Lancelot! What exactly is in that coffin?" Eddard Stark asked.

"A corpse?"

"A wight! Lord Eddard!" Lancelot corrected.

"Who is it?"

"Waymar Royce!"

"What? Him!" Eddard Stark stood up in shock.

"I was thinking we should invite his father, Yohn Royce, to King's Landing to see his son one last time," Lancelot said.

"He will come! I have already announced to the Seven Kingdoms that a tourney will be held in King's Landing to celebrate Ned's appointment as Hand," King Robert said.

"Does that mean I can win another large pile of Gold Dragons?" Lancelot smiled sheepishly.

"We'll see who has the skill when the time comes! Lancelot, it's not certain who will take the crown!" King Robert grinned.

"No way. Is the King competing personally?" Lancelot asked.

"That's right. I will regain my glory and let the Seven Kingdoms know that the mighty Robert of old has returned," King Robert nodded.
