Chapter 133: The Battle
With heavy steps, Nemesis approached Jake once more!
"RAAAGH!"
It roared ferociously, raising its right fist to strike!
The punch appeared slow and deliberate, but Jake, having just taken a hit, wouldn't underestimate it. Given his current condition, four or five more punches like that would definitely leave him unable to fight back.
Nemesis's punch was aimed directly at Jake's head!
Jake stepped back with his right leg, simultaneously reaching out with lightning speed to grab the attacking arm. His entire body darted under the limb and twisted forcefully!
He wrenched Nemesis's right fist directly behind its back!
With a sharp crack, the leather restraint on the creature's fist broke apart.
However, that was all the damage he could inflict.
Nemesis was a bio-engineered monster—its muscle tissue had undergone radical mutation, the muscle fibers incredibly dense and tough, firmly protecting the arm structure beneath!
After twisting the arm again with all his strength and finding it useless, Jake suddenly jumped up and slammed both feet into the backs of Nemesis's knees, forcing the creature down!
Using his superior speed, Jake briefly gained the upper hand again.
However, his attacks were proving ineffective against Nemesis. The creature merely braced itself with its left hand on the ground and pushed itself back up!
The now-standing Nemesis swung its fist backward at Jake.
Jake dodged the attack with a quick sidestep, then used his agility to circle behind it again. He struck the inside of its elbow to disrupt the attack, followed by a whip kick that slammed into Nemesis's back!
As a combat bio-weapon, Nemesis possessed excellent battle awareness. The whip kick made it stagger forward two steps, but as soon as it regained its balance, it clenched its left fist and swung backward!
Jake nimbly flipped over to dodge the counterattack.
Against such an overwhelming tank, he could only rely on his speed and agility to survive.
But then Nemesis suddenly accelerated, closing the distance. It swung one massive hand at Jake's face, and as he raised his arms to block, the creature's other fist drove into his abdomen with brutal precision!
The impact sent Jake flying backward, pain exploding through his core.
As Nemesis pressed its second attack, Jake rolled twice across the rooftop to evade.
"That really hurt," he muttered, getting to his feet and checking his side. He knew he was bruised beneath the suit, and when he wiped his mouth, he found blood.
The two combatants faced each other in a tense standoff.
Taking advantage of the brief respite, Jake glanced toward Alice and noticed she was actually gaining the upper hand in her fight, dominating her Nemesis opponent.
Although her strikes didn't seem to seriously hurt the thick-skinned monster, she was clearly doing better than he was.
Were T-virus evolved beings really that much stronger than someone relying on technology?
As expected of a perfect T-virus adapter—a one-in-ten-million compatibility rate.
At that moment, Nemesis raised its fist again, preparing another devastating blow!
"Red Queen, what do the analysis results show?" Jake asked through his earpiece.
"Analysis complete," the AI's voice responded immediately.
"Duck!"
Jake dropped into a crouch without hesitation.
"Based on its current stance, all its weight is concentrated on its right leg. If you attack the right knee joint, you can destabilize it and force it to the ground."
However, Jake didn't have time for detailed instructions. He quickly stepped back twice to avoid the fist that nearly connected with his face.
"Don't explain the analysis—just tell me what to do!"
Although Red Queen's breakdown was logical, in the heat of real combat, he didn't have time to process tactical theory.
Jake was naturally skilled at fighting, but without knowing Nemesis's specific vulnerabilities, he couldn't launch truly effective attacks—and that was his biggest problem.
"Move back four steps!"
Red Queen continued issuing commands. "Now—strike its armpit!"
Its armpit?
Without hesitation, Jake lunged forward to meet the incoming fist, dropping into a crouch as he closed the distance.
Then he sprang upward, landing a precise strike directly under Nemesis's exposed armpit!
"RAAAAGH!" Nemesis howled from the unexpected attack, and Jake could smell its rancid breath.
"Its primary weak points are the eyes and brain—you should concentrate your attacks on those areas," Red Queen's explanation was cut short as Jake was already moving, sidestepping another punch aimed at his head.
As the battle continued, with Red Queen's tactical assistance, Jake found dodging easier and began inflicting more significant damage with each counterattack.
Another solid punch connected with Nemesis's sutured skull.
The impact elicited another agonized scream from the creature.
Jake's position on the rooftop began to shift, and he noticed Alice's battle was also moving—the two fights were converging.
They had to finish this quickly. Dawn was approaching, and when it came, the nuclear missile would be inbound. Once that happened, it would be too late for everyone!
"Alice!" Jake suddenly broke away from his Nemesis and ran toward her position.
Hearing Jake's call, Alice turned and saw him sprinting in her direction. Without hesitation, she ran to meet him!
The distance between them was about thirty feet, but at their enhanced speeds, it vanished in less than a second.
Behind each of them, their respective Nemesis units gave chase, the bio-weapons' faces twisted in mindless aggression.
Both creatures were fast, staying close behind their targets.
Just as Jake and Alice were about to collide head-on, Jake suddenly veered left while Alice launched herself into the air, both feet extended!
She kicked directly at the Nemesis pursuing Jake!
It was a split-second decision between the two enhanced fighters.
One-on-one, neither could win. So they'd fight two-on-two instead.
Time was running out—there was no room for lengthy planning.
As an evolved T-virus host, Alice possessed far greater raw power than Jake's tech-enhanced strength.
Her flying double kick caught the Nemesis following Jake square in the chest, sending the massive creature staggering backward, nearly toppling over. In that moment, Jake lunged forward with all his momentum, becoming the final push needed.
With a heavy thud, the bio-weapon crashed to the rooftop!
Jake immediately dropped his knees onto the fallen Nemesis's chest, drawing both pistols and aiming them at its eyes.
"I'm not entirely sure who you were before—Matt or Kaplan—but congratulations!"
"You're finally free!"
BANG! BANG! BANG!
He pulled the triggers, and the bullets punched through Nemesis's eyes into its brain!
After twitching for two or three seconds, the creature went still.
It was dead.
