Chapter 125 - Chapter 125: Re-entering Resident Evil

Chapter 125: Re-entering Resident Evil

"What are you doing?"

Furiosa asked, watching Jake constantly disappearing and reappearing with strange objects in his hands.

"Come and help," Jake said, shoving the small device he was holding into Furiosa's arms before vanishing again.

When he reappeared, he was carrying an even larger one.

"Now that you know about the Red Queen, you should at least meet her properly."

He took out his tools and quickly covered the entire chamber with holographic projection devices he'd acquired from another world.

"Red Queen, come out and try it!"

To Furiosa's astonishment, all the devices suddenly activated, and then beams of light shot out.

The light converged, finally revealing the figure of a young girl about four feet tall in front of Jake and Furiosa.

"Come, let me introduce you properly. This is Furiosa," he said, pointing to Furiosa, who was completely stunned, and then to the holographic image that appeared perfectly real. "This is the Red Queen."

"Hello," the Red Queen tilted her head and greeted her with a blank expression.

"Hello," Furiosa replied mechanically.

Jake knew that it was impossible to suddenly make someone from a post-apocalyptic world accept something like artificial intelligence. The challenge was that this world didn't even have the cultural context for such technology.

As a result, when a non-physical being like the Red Queen appeared, they would only feel shocked, but wouldn't know how to categorize it.

This was a world with extremely limited technological knowledge.

"Furiosa, where are the architectural blueprints I gave you?"

"Wait, I'll go get them," Furiosa finally snapped out of her shock and hurried out.

After a moment, Jake took the blueprints from her and unfolded them page by page, laying them flat on the ground.

"Help me create a 3D model."

"Okay."

The Red Queen scanned them briefly, and in less than two seconds, a massive 3D model appeared before them.

"Zoom in here." He pointed to a section.

The image zoomed in, and they seemed instantly immersed in the design, able to observe it from every angle.

"Where are we in the construction process?" Jake turned to Furiosa, who had finally managed to suppress her shock, and asked.

"If we follow this design," Furiosa stretched out her hand, her finger passing through the holographic projection, grasping only light, "we probably haven't even reached one percent."

"Not even one percent in half a month? If we want to complete construction at this rate, won't it take more than four years!"

Furiosa didn't seem particularly concerned; after all, when Immortal Joe built the Citadel, it had taken him much longer. But for Jake, waiting four years for a base to be completed was less appealing than simply claiming a new one.

"The workers are still insufficient."

Through natural attrition, the weak and elderly workers had been weeded out; only those with strong will and healthy bodies survived.

His initial goal had been achieved.

Thinking of finding labor elsewhere, he knew it was impossible to rely solely on these workers.

"Can you transfer yourself here?" Jake pointed to his suit, which contained a miniature computer system.

"Data transfer? I haven't tried that before."

"You can send a copy of yourself. I'll take you to other worlds later."

"I'll try."

A few seconds later, Jake's suit interface flashed.

He removed his old watch and tossed it aside.

"I optimized the interface," the Red Queen's voice came through the small earpiece in his suit. "Some of the programs were too complex and difficult to use."

"Thanks." He now had a holographic projection device integrated into his wrist.

With a wave of his hand, a tiny Red Queen appeared hovering above his palm.

Exquisitely detailed, with features and limbs, she was like a miniature fairy.

With a flick of his wrist, the holographic projection vanished instantly.

The Resident Evil crisis wasn't resolved; Jake needed to return to that world.

He should go now, because the events of Raccoon City were about to unfold.

His goal this time was straightforward: find Dr. Charles Ashford, creator of the T-virus, and then persuade him to work for him.

Only its inventor could properly develop and control the T-virus, and Jake believed he could offer the perfect incentive.

For example, providing him and his daughter Angela with a perfect sanctuary.

Raccoon City

A sudden biohazard crisis swept through the city.

What was initially reported as attacks by rabid dogs turned out to be a virus far more serious than rabies.

Once bitten and infected, victims would die, then reanimate as walking corpses.

Staggering about, searching for the next unfortunate victim, turning them into one of their own kind.

In just one afternoon, this bustling metropolis collapsed.

There were screams, cries, and wandering, flesh-hungry zombies everywhere.

Night fell.

The stars in the sky were dim, as if even the heavens had averted their gaze from this city.

After a full day of spread, the terror of the undead had become far more devastating than any natural disaster, leaving only chaos in its wake.

The streets and alleys were filled with people scrambling for their lives, wrecked cars, piles of debris, mangled corpses, and shuffling zombies.

The atmosphere of apocalypse weighed heavily on everyone in the city like a massive, suffocating hand. They felt fear, they couldn't breathe, they wanted to escape!

But escaping was never so simple.

Just as those who had rushed to the perimeter checkpoints were preparing to leave, Umbrella Corporation had been waiting there for some time.

To prevent the virus from spreading and to prevent the scandal of the outbreak from going public, they had forcibly confined all the survivors of Raccoon City.

Large crowds of citizens waited at the security gates for inspection; once they passed through those gates, they could escape the nightmare that had consumed their city!

But the security checkpoints were too narrow, and the number of survivors kept growing.

People always believe that salvation is just within reach, unaware that in a biohazard crisis, clustering together makes them most vulnerable to infection!

Then, someone suddenly collapses, vomiting and coughing up blood; they've turned, grabbing the nearest person and biting them.

Before anyone realizes what's happening, several people have been scratched and bitten!

Panic erupts rapidly!

Umbrella Corporation decisively shuts down the security gates; they won't let anyone out.

To contain the biohazard crisis and prevent the scandal from spreading, sacrificing one city's population is acceptable. A corporation like Umbrella has countless ways to easily justify razing it to the ground, possibly even gaining public support in the process.

This is Umbrella Corporation's confidence.

And these ordinary citizens, at this moment, the fear that has been building inside them all day finally explodes!

They curse and angrily demand that Umbrella reopen the only path to survival.

Major Timothy Cain, the Umbrella supervisor in charge of Raccoon City operations, doesn't care about these curses at all, because these people will soon become shambling undead. He's focused on how to perfectly sanitize this problematic city.

Furthermore, the real priority is testing the experimental bio-weapons in the laboratory to determine which one makes the most effective combat asset.
