Chapter 55: Gun-Kata
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunshots rang out, and the entire floor instantly erupted in chaos.
In the original movie, John single-handedly overwhelmed all the guards on the floor; now, with the addition of Partridge, who was nearly as formidable as John,
the two moved swiftly through the crowd, their arms swirling around their bodies in all directions, constantly pulling the trigger!
Bang bang bang—!!!
One after another, men in black tactical gear fell to the ground.
Their bullet-dodging skills were even more impressive. A dozen men formed a semi-circle around them, firing indiscriminately, but the two of them danced, leaping, flipping, and spinning, dodging every bullet and even managing to return fire!
By the time the battle on this floor ended, neither of them had been hit by a single stray bullet!
Looking at the corpses in black tactical gear scattered on the ground, Jake realized he hadn't had a chance to fire a single shot!
This didn't mean he hadn't had a chance; on the contrary, the battle had only just begun!
A massive door opened, and even more guards in authoritarian black tactical gear rushed out, their numbers more than four times that of the original movie!
John and Partridge's two-day disappearance must have aroused DuPont's suspicion, prompting him to deploy more guards just in case.
Just as John and Partridge exchanged a glance, preparing for a desperate fight, Jake's voice came from behind, "Get out of the way!"
Instinctively, they rolled to the left and right respectively.
In that instant, a rocket-propelled grenade shot out rapidly, striking the ground beneath the feet of the guards who had just taken their positions!
BOOM—!!
The warhead exploded, the high-explosive round rapidly spewing out intense flames, instantly engulfing the guards; they didn't even have a chance to scream.
About ten seconds later, the flames subsided.
John and Partridge then stood up and looked back, discovering that Jake's black leather suitcase had been opened, and a rocket launcher was slung over his shoulder!
This insane attack clearly came from Jake.
He stood up, casually tossing the rocket launcher from his shoulder to the ground, walked over to the two high-ranking Clerics, and, ignoring their stunned expressions, said, "Let's go!"
He brushed past them, M16 in both hands, and led the way.
John and Partridge were taken aback; they clearly didn't understand Jake's feelings at this moment. The opportunity to show off in front of Christian Bale was a rare one.
Whether it was John Preston, Batman, or even John Connor in Terminator Salvation, Christian Bale's roles weren't ones where you could simply be strong enough to leave him speechless.
He satisfied his vanity a little.
Standing before the massive door, the elegant white door was charred from the flames of the rocket, with yellowed edges. A finger could leave a white mark on the black burn marks.
John and Partridge also came over, and the three stood side by side.
The door slowly opened, revealing eight Clerics in ceremonial robes, each carrying a katana at their waist. These men, while not quite at the level of high-ranking Clerics, were not far off.
These men weren't armed with guns; against someone equally skilled in gun-kata, bullets were less effective than hand-to-hand combat.
The eight men slowly surrounded the three.
At the furthest point from them, one standing and one sitting, were DuPont and the ever-smiling Brandt.
Actually, this movie had many tells. For example, the actor playing DuPont—Jake knew from the first glance that he was definitely the villain.
And that smiling Brandt—didn't you inject yourself with Prozium? How come you're still smiling so broadly? Do you have to show off your gleaming white teeth all the time?
Being surrounded by eight gun-kata masters was probably the most dangerous situation Jake had ever encountered.
In such a confined space, there wasn't even a chance to exit the movie world using his phone!
"How are you feeling, Preston?" DuPont remained seated, seemingly unaffected even by the rocket launcher nearly blasting in; he still looked confident.
John didn't speak, a slight smile playing on his lips—he was responding to DuPont with his smile!
"Get down!" John shouted to Jake.
Jake immediately dropped to the ground, and then, with a whoosh, a head the size of a basketball shot into the air!
John and Partridge grabbed two katanas and began slashing at the surrounding Clerics. Five seconds! Only five seconds!
All eight Clerics were dead!
Their bodies surrounded the three men, lying on the ground in a circular pattern.
Two black-clad Clerics held katanas in one hand, while another, in a suit, held an M16 rifle pointed at DuPont.
Their imposing presence was overwhelming!
"Hey!" Brandt, the smiling man, rested his hand on his katana. "Watch the uniform, Cleric." He grinned, his white teeth gleaming. "I'm going to wear it for a long time."
This man might be stronger than Partridge, even capable of taking on a dozen Clerics single-handedly like John, but clearly, he was no match for John.
In the movie, John sliced off his face in an instant—the difference in skill was obvious.
Just as Brandt, with katanas in both hands, prepared to fight the two high-ranking Clerics…
Crack—!
A hole suddenly appeared between his eyebrows, his hands still gripping the blades, and he collapsed to the ground.
"Not all Clerics can dodge bullets," Jake shrugged, getting up. He was the one who fired the shot, taking advantage of the opponent's attention being solely on John, and it had been very effective.
Now, only DuPont, Jake, John, and Partridge remained.
However, the three dared not relax; this fake Father was a true master of gun-kata!
Ten minutes later, John and Partridge worked together and quickly defeated and killed DuPont.
Then, the three rushed towards the television studio. The only program on television in this world was the brainwashing broadcast conducted by the fake Father that DuPont was portraying.
Jake felt disgusted by this television station, which had completely lost the spirit of free media, and threw two olive-drab grenades into it!
Meanwhile, the underground resistance had transformed into a full-scale uprising, destroying all the Prozium pharmaceutical factories. The number of resistance fighters worldwide was far greater than it appeared.
As expected, the leaderless Tetragrammaton first lost its leader, then several pharmaceutical factories were bombed, plunging it into chaos.
Prozium's supply had to be suspended for a day, and it was on this day that humanity prevailed!
Countless people who had regained their emotions rose up in rebellion, and the Tetragrammaton was utterly powerless against humanity.
Jurgen, the leader of the resistance organization, became the new leader, but it was believed he wouldn't become a tyrant; as seen in the original storyline, he was even willing to use his own life as bait for John's mission.
The next day,
Jake was at John's house, holding his little daughter Lisa and playing affectionately.
"Jake," John and his son walked over, their faces stiff as they looked at Jake and Lisa playing happily on the sofa.
"What, is it time for lunch?" Jake gently rubbed the little girl's cheek, then turned to look at John and his son. They were indeed father and son; even without Prozium suppressing their faces, they were still pretty stoic.
"No!" John took a deep breath, as if suppressing his irritation, then said, "The gun-kata training starts this afternoon."
"Didn't you say we'd wait until the world was completely stabilized?"
"No! It starts this afternoon!" John turned and left; he was utterly fed up with Jake's constant doting on his little daughter.
As a hero who overthrew tyranny, Jake enjoys high privileges in this world. He can learn gun-kata and even request a specially made Cleric's pistol set.
Even taking photos with John and Jurgen is a perk.
In the afternoon,
only Jake and John stood in the huge training hall, both dressed in tight-fitting athletic wear, facing each other.
"Gun-kata, through the analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, allows for the statistical prediction of the geometric distribution of opponents in any firefight," John explained to Jake, standing still. "Gun-kata is a fusion of martial arts and modern firearms technique.
Every varied move maximizes the killing field, delivering fatal strikes and neutralizing the largest number of enemies."
"In defense, it allows for dodging and counter-attacking traditional bullet trajectories. Through the mastery of this technique, your shooting effectiveness will increase by at least 120%, with a 63% increase in lethality. With this skill, you can take on dozens of opponents single-handedly!"
