Chapter 112 - How... How could this happen?

There was a dry crack. Deep cracks spread like lightning across the giant's chest. The instant the blow landed, four invisible shadows darted towards the giant. Their task was simple: the moment his heavy chakra armor shattered, they would hold Uchiha Yue's body in a death grip.

However, in the next moment, Nagato's gaze froze, and pure amazement was reflected on her face.

Something was wrong.

He saw how Susanoo's chest, which was supposed to crumble into dust, was only covered with a dense network of cracks, but it did not split.

"No... no, this can't be happening!" flashed through his mind. "Why didn't it shatter?"

After all, this is Shinra Tensei in his ultimate, concentrated form! A power capable of turning an entire hidden village into ruins, all the crushing power of which is gathered at one point! This is an absolute technique that can destroy everything!

He gained this power along with his new body when his Rinnegan moved to a new level. He personally tested it on Gedo Maso, and that blow easily crushed the gigantic statue. A technique that even the Demon of the Heretical Path couldn't resist!

So how did Uchiha Yue manage to survive?

In the face of such a blow, one might say a full-force blow, this giant's chest should have shattered into atoms, exposing the vulnerable body inside. It's impossible that there are only cracks left on it!

And he was right. The heretical Susanoo, although it possessed incredible durability, could not withstand Nagato's attack. She really should have smashed the protection to smithereens.

But it was a pure energy attack.

And since its inception, this energy has been continuously absorbed. At the moment of collision with the giant, a colossal amount of power was simply sucked out, which is why the destructive wave, capable of not only destroying Susanoo, but also tearing apart Yue himself, only left deep scars on his armor. If this attack had occurred during the period when the Sage of the White Snake had just died, it would have achieved its goal. But that time is long gone.

"It doesn't matter!" Nagato decided, putting aside his doubts.

— Limbo: Borderline Hell, go!

The four disembodied shadows are his new strength, his main trump card. No one was able to detect them, and their power in taijutsu was terrifying. He knew that if he had faced their attack without Rinnegan, he would have been beaten to death. He even tried this dojutsu on Uchiha Madara, and the result was obvious: he couldn't detect shadows. It was his guarantee of victory.

Besides, they passed through any matter.

Obeying Nagato's will, the four ghosts silently rushed towards the giant's cracked chest.

The second second has passed since the start of the fight. The light that enveloped Nagato had almost faded away, leaving only a faint, fading flicker.

"Uchiha Yue, die! He gloated in his mind. "What's the use of defending yourself?" Before the power of the Sage's eyes, you can only obediently give your life. These Mangekye Sharingans shouldn't belong to a dog like you. They will be mine!"

A picture of triumph was already unfolding in his imagination. He saw his shadows penetrate inside Susanoo and, before Yue could react, grab him, break his bones, and then crush his skull, ending his life forever. And then he'll take the eyes away.…

— IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!

A chilling scream escaped Nagato's lips. He stared at the scene unfolding in the fading light, and at the same time felt the state of his shadows.

They froze. Like insects trapped in amber, his four indestructible ghosts were trapped. Their bodies half entered Susanoo's armor and froze. Dozens of black chains burst out from inside the giant, which plunged into the shadows and began to drain chakra from them with monstrous greed.

"How... how were they stopped? How were they even discovered?!" Nagato's mind refused to believe. "The lousy Mangekyo Sharingan can't see them! Even Madara couldn't!"

And again, he was right. Uchiha Yue did not see his shadows. After all, it was just a Mangekye.

However, he saw the energy.

Any object consisting of energy and located within his perception was as clear to him as in the palm of his hand. He couldn't discern the true appearance of these four phantoms, but he clearly saw four hostile clusters of power trying to enter his body. That was enough.

The chains of the Evil God.

"Is that what you were hoping for, Nagato?" There was undisguised cold laughter in Yue's chakra—enhanced voice. "All your so—called power… It's pathetic and naive. You're just a clown in an arena that you built for yourself.

Uchiha Yue slowly raised his hand. The Tree Dragon that had been wrapped around his body up to this point was torn apart as easily as if it was made of thin paper.

By this point, four seconds had passed since Nagato's attack began.

The dim light finally went out. The chakra in Nagato's body, spent on the previous attack, was almost running out. But these were not the old crumbs — now his reserves were several times higher than before and consisted of pure senjutsu chakra.

In the darkness and deathly silence that followed, Nagato's heart sank into the abyss of despair. Why? Why didn't anything work? Such a powerful attack, his invisible shadows that even Madara didn't notice…

Suddenly, Uchiha Yue's calm voice sounded in his ear.:

"You've lost."

It's bad!

Alarm bells rang in Nagato's head. He tried to do something, but it was too late.

Light.

Blinding, scorching, like a supernova explosion. A light capable of dispersing and crushing any darkness suddenly flashed in this darkness.

And it was pointed right at him.
