Chapter 78 - Is this human speech?

Jiraiya, patting his chest, exuded unshakable confidence. Their plan was ridiculously simple: to bring the light of the Will of Fire to Uchiha Yue, awaken the remnants of conscience in him, make him repent — and the problem would be solved by itself.

Their logic, though bizarre, had a foundation. Uchiha Yue's behavior was baffling. If you hate Konoha so much, why are you hesitating? The village is right in front of you — rush in and cut it down to the last inhabitant.

Why stand still?

It was worth thinking about, and this immobility took on a new, hopeful meaning. At first it was just a vague guess, but as time passed, Yue did not move, and the hypothesis grew stronger, turning into an axiom.

It was like falling desperately in love: a glance from a goddess, a couple of careless words — and now the unfortunate man is already replaying the conversation in his head for hours, looking for hidden hints of reciprocity. And the longer the silence lasts, the more irrational the belief grows that his feelings are divided.

That's exactly what Jiraiya and his colleagues reasoned. This was the root of their confidence, born of the great Will of Fire. This was also the reason why Jiraiya was in no hurry to initiate the wise men from Mount Myoboku into his plans, who were determined to destroy Uchiha Yue's cursed eyes.

In the prophecy of the Great Sage Toad, it was said: Uchiha Yue will become a disaster that will wipe out the world of Shinobi. His eyes must be destroyed.

But Konoha couldn't afford it. If they destroyed Yue, the other villages would not applaud the saviors of the world. No, they will cling to the weakened Konoha like vultures, tearing apart her contracts, techniques and genomes.

The only problem was the prophecy. Lying in the hospital bed, Jiraiya was tormented by the thought: what if, having preserved Yue's eyes, they really doom the world to destruction? This question bothered him and Tsunade.

But then they were struck by a brilliant, perverse idea, prompted by the sharp mind of Nara Shikaku. Their plan was feasible.

And Shimura Danzo should be grateful for that.

After all, according to the prophecy, the current threat to the world should not have existed at all. But that old bastard Danzo and the Sarutobi Hiruzen he fooled went against the heavens. They forcibly changed their destiny and gave birth to a monster named Uchiha Yue.

And that meant only one thing: the fates were not so indestructible. Since a nobody like Danzo has managed to defy fate and distort the future, why can't they fix it? Can't they, the legendary Sannyas of Konoha, do it?

Sincerity will melt the ice, and man's will will conquer the heavens! The Great Will of Fire is limitless, its light illuminates Konoha and shines on the entire universe. They will succeed! After all, Uchiha Yue must be bitterly regretting his actions himself. Just think, they destroyed his clan. Just think, they almost killed him himself. Is it possible to blame Mr. Danzo and Mr. Hokage for such trifles?

The true Will of Fire is when, realizing that your clan is no longer needed by the village, you cut it down to the last man, and in front of the one who gave the order, you cringely demonstrate boundless devotion. And even on the verge of death, all your thoughts are only about the great Konoha.

Here it is, the shining and beautiful Will of Fire!

All for the sake of the village! All for the sake of the comrades!

Living under the shadow of the Konoha tree, no one escapes its shackles. No matter how callous a person is, no matter how fierce hatred burns his heart, in the face of true faith, he will put aside anger, choose forgiveness and return to the path of serving the village.

Having grasped, as it seemed to them, the very essence of Uchiha Yue, they faced only one problem.: how to break through the icy sphere that surrounded him? But they had a month, and Jiraiya and Tsunade had no doubt that they would find a solution. After all, there are no impossible tasks for a ninja.

"Well, I'll believe you this time," the Daimyo exhaled wearily, looking at Jiraiya's self—confident face. — But remember, you only have a month! Now tell me, who will become the new Hokage?

He didn't know much about ninja business. Professional issues are a matter for professionals. If Konoha can figure out the problem she caused herself, he will forgive them. Unless it cuts funding. And if he can't… Well, he has already ordered the secret gathering of resources to escape from the Land of Fire with his family and loyal samurai.

If he had known what their "professional" plan really was, he would have had a stroke.

What the hell?! The Will of Fire?! What kind of bullshit is this?! Is this even human speech?!

You destroyed his clan! He almost died at your hands! It's a blood feud, a hatred burned into your very soul, and you're going to quell it with some lousy "Will of Fire"?

And what right do you have to talk about her?

The Uchiha clan, no matter how you look at it, was part of Konoha. Your comrades. Even if one of them was preparing a coup, it was enough to eliminate the conspirators. Why was there a massacre, destroying everyone in a row — women, old people, children, guilty only of having the same last name?

Where is your vaunted defense of your comrades? Where is the commandment that one should not raise a hand against them?

Or are "comrades" just those who are convenient at the moment, and the rest are just expendable on the way to Konoha's greatness?
