Chapter 26 - End of the crisis

X felt vibrations on his wrist and saw that his alarm had gone off.

It was midnight...

Phoenix was still lying on the cold floor of the roof. His spiral eyes were fixed on the cloudless sky.

"I lost... I really lost," he repeated with trembling lips.

X watched him quietly, ready to intervene if necessary.

Suddenly, the villain burst out laughing... An indecipherable laugh...

"You're really too strong man! It makes me sick! It's too shameful to lose like that!" he cried, laughing as if he had been told the funniest joke of all time.

His disproportionate reaction made X sigh, staring at the orange-haired young man with an impassive look.

"Come on, say something, man! Are you dumb or what?" growled Phoenix, throwing a small pebble at him.

X readjusted his glasses with another exhausted sigh.

"You're really too loud and annoying as a new character," he said dryly as he walked away from him.

"wait.... What?" asked Phoenix, suddenly straightening up.

"Are you finally talking to me?!" he cried angrily.

He got on his legs and glared at X.

"You may be stronger than me today, but soon I'll surpass you! I no longer want to destroy the earth, bring chaos and incinerate everything, I want to defeat you! You're my rival!" shouted Phoenix, pointing X at him.

"As long as you don't do anything against humanity, I'm fine," he said nonchalantly.

"I'm going to train like crazy and our next clash will decide the fate of humanity!" he cried jubilantly.

"you talk like this Webnovel character, I forgot the name of the novel..."

"Tell me, what's your name?" he asked curiously.

"X" he said with a serene smile.

"X? Like Professor X from the X-men?" he asked confusedly.

"Take it what you want..." he said with a sigh.

Phoenix looked at him with squinted eyes and then decided to change the conversation.

"How did you manage to resist my flames?" he asked with extreme seriousness.

"The Plot Armor" he replied immediately.

"Huh?!? what the fuck is that answer?!" cried Phoenix with sawteeth and flaming fists.

"well, hi and be good" X said calmly, snapping his fingers, teleporting himself into a colorful glitch.

"Hey but wait!" cried Phoenix as he tried to stop him, but X was already gone.

"Why did he leave so quickly?" wondered Phoenix.

.....

X was at home, with his black hair and pajamas.

He turned on the TV, and he put on his favorite talk show which was playing at fifteen minutes past midnight.

"Ahhhh, I was afraid of missing it!" he smiled greatly as he drank his beer.

The announcer cracked a joke and X burst out laughing.

"Always so funny this Chandler!" he smiled.

....

For his part, Phoenix was still on the roof...

"This guy is too weird... But I'm going to beat him! For that, I have to become stronger!" he said to himself with a determined smile.

"I still wonder why he spared me..." he said with his hand on his chin, curious to know.

He was interrupted in his reflections by the squeak of a rat that passed in front of him...

He watched the rodent pass a woman who was there....

A woman?

"Hi, SCP-90008...." said the woman with a serene smile.

Phoenix had her eyes fixed on this woman who appeared out of nowhere, she was wearing a long tight white dress and a little black jacket.

She had long blonde hair with bangs....

But the most breathtaking detail of her physiognomy was her eyes...

This woman's irises were like a starry sky and her pupils were real black holes.

She was staring at him intensely and at that precise moment...

Phoenix felt a real terror....

The rat from earlier was in a corner, its body was lying lifeless on the ground...

"Why are you trembling, Phoenix? I'm not going to hurt you," she said as she approached.

What happened next... No one knew.

.............

A week had passed....

The city of Tokyo was still recovering from what had happened to it...

The locals had celebrated the number 0 like a god, talking over and over about his titanic fight against the Phoenix.

"He rebuilt all of Tokyo in a snap of his fingers and he extinguished the flames of the arsonist with such ease!" smiled a man in the subway.

"He's the strongest hero in our world, this arsonist had no idea who he was dealing with!" another man smiled greatly, miming X's snap with admiration.

"He disappeared again after that! It's frustrating that he appears so rarely!" grumbled a lady next to them, her cheeks flushed.

A few centimeters from them, a black-haired salary man listened to them talk about him.

He simply smiled as he clutched his work bag and left the premises.

As for Phoenix, he had completely disappeared from the radar... The SCP Foundation was looking for him but no trace of him.

It is then naturally thought that X had gotten rid of him with his powers, which the foundation did not really believe...

In any case, the crisis of the infinite flames had ended on a bittersweet note laden with a haunting mystery...

But we'll come back to that part much later in our story...

For more than 10 months, Mirko, Endeavor and many pro heroes were treated for their injuries....

The after-effects were very present, especially for the two members of the top 10...

Toshinori was also treated but the after-effects of this confrontation were irreversible... He was physically diminished but his heroic flame did not diminish, he still wanted to fulfill his role as a symbol of peace, even if his body was destroyed and reduced to a human rag.

This provoked an argument with his sidekick Sir Nighteye...

But you probably know all that...

...................

In musutafu, a little boy with green hair was in a park, frantically writing down in his notebook number 9.

This boy was 9 years old and his name was izuku midoriya....

But he also had an unflattering nickname...

"Deku!" cried a voice full of venom.

The one called deku lowered his head and clutched his notebook.

"What are you wrong? Don't you answer when someone talks to you?" asked the blond boy of the same age as he approached him with his group of friends behind him.

"Hello Kacchan..." deku stammered.

"Hmm, it's better that way. After all, the useless Quirkless must bow down to the future number 1, right?" sneered the one who was called Kacchan, glaring at the green-haired boy.

"Katsuki, look, he's still writing down stuff about heroes!" a boy mocked, pointing to the notebook.

Katsuki bakugo grimaced with rage, causing small explosions in his hands...

"You still want to be a hero, Deku? Show me what your stupid notebooks are going to do to help you when you don't have a quirk." he said wickedly as Deku awkwardly tried to stand up to him. His forest green eyes shone with boundless determination and will.

"Men are not born equal..." These were the thoughts of Izuku Midoriya.

He had been diagnosed with quirkless at the age of 4 and since his dream of being a hero to help people with a smile like All might be trampled on...

What he didn't know was that in a few hours he would have an encounter that would turn his life upside down and make him take a path he didn't expect...

Just know that this midoriya izuku will be very different from the original.

To be continued...
