Just as I finally finished settling everything in a manner that all involved were satisfied with,
"Hey! Rimuru! RIIMURU! I know you can hear me! Answ-" Veldora sent a Thought Communication my way, in sped-up thought form.
Immediately, I sped up my own thoughts to match, and responded. "What do you need, buddy? I'm in the middle of a Walpurgis, you know."
"You gave me the wrong ending! How am I supposed to find out whether ---- ends up with ---- or ----!? Better question, how did you even MANAGE to give me the wrong manga?! I pulled it right out of your head!"
"Oh, yeah. That last one was a dummy file. I pulled it out of there as a joke." I remembered.
Between the two of us, Risa and I only technically had six skills, but those six skills worked together in a jokishly perfect manner, each providing a very specific function.
My Aether, Lord of Bonds, connected my soul to every single one of my friends' souls, allowing me to parse their skill data at will, theoretically allowing me to replicate each and every skill inside myself as necessary via Isis. It also held portions of Risa's dominion aspect, which meant that I could use Isis and Horus through Aether to tinker with my friends' souls from afar if necessary.
Naturally, there was a Nephthys Pact in place preventing me from doing that to brainwash everyone for no reason.
Risa's Mnemosyne, Lord of Archives, basically compiled all of those skills into an easily accessible format. This held two major advantages: 1, it made it impossible for those skills to be cut off from us for any reason, and 2, it meant that, when I replicated those skills with Isis for use, it was far easier on both my skill, my soul, and my friends' souls, since I didn't have to utilize Aether to its fullest potential for every skill.
Mnemosyne was also made to store soul data, to make the permanent deaths that could've happened during the Farmus attack impossible. Its ability to transpose souls into data was an unexpected side effect, which would probably end up also becoming its main use in the future. Within it, any and all information gathered by anyone even remotely connected to Aether was stored. Most of that was sorted by Isis, then placed behind complex Nephthys Pact Locks that restricted access, like a massive computer with file systems.
Without very specific permissions, not even Risa, Isis, or I could access around 75-80% of Mnemosyne's data, it was just too awesome a power.
That was where Veldora was pulling his manga from. I'd given him permission to access my 'Manga file' in Mnemosyne, but I'd had Isis screw around with it a bit just to mess with him. Without me telling him how to find it, Veldora would likely have to go through every single manga I'd ever looked at in order to find the real ending to his series. The goal had been to hold it over his head, so that I could get him to behave at a later date.
Too bad he'd chosen the wrong manga right off the bat.
As an aside, my Belzebuth, Lord of Gluttony, and Risa's Horus, Lord of Dominion, had their own roles in the Aether Skill System. Basically, Isis used them to process any and all system irregularities, making it impossible for one to somehow utilize Aether's ability to connect as a weakness. This also had the side effect of regulating magicule control for any and all monsters connected to Aether, in cases of potentially fatal emergencies.
In cases of truly extreme emergency, the two skills can even be utilized in tandem by Isis to temporarily channel Veldora's broken 'Set, Lord of Destruction' skill, capable of literally annihilating anything and everything. That was a trump card that I very much hoped that we would never, under any circumstances, have any use for.
"Why would you play such a cruel joke on me, Rimuru! You left me on a cliffhanger!" Veldora complained inside my head.
"Sorry. I didn't know that you were reading that particular manga. Here, I'll have Isis put the ending bac-"
"That's not good enough for me, Rimuru! I'm coming over!" Veldora decided.
I rolled my eyes inwardly. "You can't, remember? I'm not in a battle, so the Pact you're under is gonna stop you, just like it did Risa." I reminded him.
"Hah! I've studied the sacred texts from your world, and I have the answer to that one, Rimuru! There's a clause in here that says that I can teleport in, even if you aren't fighting, so long as I truly believe that you are in danger! And you are! Guy Crimson lives with my sister, making him incredibly dangerous and unpredictable by nature! It's entirely possible that he may simply attempt to kill you out of nowhere! So long as I am not there to prevent it, it is possible for you to die at any moment! Rimuru, I'm coming!" I mentally deadpanned so hard that my brain completely stalled, kicking me out of my Thought Acceleration state just as Veldora teleported into the room beside me.
Apparently, everyone else's brain stalled, too, seeing a True Dragon just appear out of nowhere in human form, because it was a long moment before anyone reacted to the intrusion in any way.
And to make matters worse, Veldora used that long moment to look around the room, before his eyes finally settled on a petite vampire leaning against the wall with an annoyed look in her eye.
"Oh. I recognize you. You're Luminous Valentine, the demon lord whose city I accidentally destroyed! That must be your surrogate, too… Don't recognize him."
Everyone in the room facepalmed simultaneously, as Luminous's Demon Lord's Hakai erupted like a volcano.
